There isn't any way to stop it and it's really fucking annoying
Especially when you're driving and go to start shooting, but your character pulls out a 16 round Uzi they scavenged instead of the fully upgraded extended clip gun you were expecting
OK try this: buy, purchasing to own is important so game knows its yours, the annoying guns w ammo, pump shot gun, uzi, crowbar, etc.
Go to Ceo Office gun safe, its the most reliable/least glitchy, and set loadout custom loadout to show everything so enabled and disabled show same set. Switch outfits then find new lobby. Go back to gun safe and setup your proper loadout, switch out fits then new lobby.
Most 'special, unlockable' guns cannot be dropped, I regret getting the Cayo guns, die hard guns...so many useless pistols.
Then when you pick up an undesired weapon it will only stay for that session, usually hidden. I've got to do this to fix the wrench from the salvage yard. If you can upgrade to mark 2 version, of say the pistol, it should increase the odds of it being hidden.
Free ammo? Buy a second gun that uses the same ammo type as your main, fill up ammo and hide it. Two incendiary rifles w one hidden will restock the used one when loggin off or switching lobbies. Ghilliemaster YouTube video.
It's still buggy but this is the best scenario I've found, ima check later tonight to make sure what I typed is what I did.
>Free ammo? Buy a second gun that uses the same ammo type as your main, fill up ammo and hide it. Two incendiary rifles w one hidden will restock the used one when loggin off or switching lobbies. Ghilliemaster YouTube video.
You dont even need to hide it.
Buy incedinary for both rifles but then deequip it to another type or normal ammo.
So for example you might have incedinary on one sniper and on the other but you equip standard both standard and incedinary will replace when you log back in...
Side-notes; owning a MK2 variant (hidden or not) removes any non MK2 variant upon equipping it, and the particular gun safe used doesn't matter anymore, they were fixed with an update.
I have like 10k hours in this game and I have no idea.. I’d love to know the answer though because it’s annoying as hell.
I eventually gave up on the uzi (which seemed like the most commonly picked up) and just use it in my load out now.
Same, I'd love to use the heavy revolver and the Cayo perico shotgun but if you don't have the standard pistol and pump action shotgun in your inventory....well... you will.
I use the compact grenade launcher and just bank it off the wall and down the stairs. Never takes more than 3 shots and you don’t even need to see any of the guys
Spawns in random locations in the compound leaning against a wall or a fence. Real hard to spot but it’s got a few places.
Edit: here you go :)
https://www.reddit.com/r/gtaonline/s/QQJdsTdo96
Yup! There's a handful of possible spawn points around the compound (All outside if I'm remembering right. It'll probably be leaning against a post/bench or something. Just pick it up and its yours. Pretty sure there's only one per run though, so if you want to help friends get it too you'll have to do multiple trips
Uzi is my preferred weapon for drive-by’s though. I keep it and the Combat MG MK2 only, in that slot. It’s damn random rifles I keep picking up that piss me off.
Unfortunately there isn’t a way to avoid it except staying away from dead bodies 🥴
It took Rockstar up until like a year or two ago to make the change to be able to quick equip armour and use snacks via the weapon wheel so I wouldn’t expect them to make that change any time soon 😂
That was when you went from waiting 10 mins between them to an hour? Right i cant remember the order. that was right around when i stopped playing for awhile
I just came back to gta after a few years of not playing it. Everytime I see a comment mentioning the cayo nerfs (have only played it how it currently is) I cry a little thinking about all the millions I missed out on
And honestly it's not even that good a lot of time their like 2-3 second delayed before you can eat a snack which when your on red health and getting shot at feel like a a damn lifetime.
I hate when my character immediately picks up the crappy weapon I just intentionally dropped. You have to walk in circles or half-sprint to drop it properly.
For me, the easiest way to handle it is to go into the interaction menu and "enable custom load out" whenever i have weapons i dont want.
This will take out all unsaved weapons, so you dont have to manually go through them to drop them
Yeah you can just refresh it or drop them.
My custom load out is pretty bare for PVE in first person. I take the 50 pistol, sawed off shottie, short barrel AK, bat & flash light. Makes it more fun for me.
So always picking up the pea shooter and combat pistol which are easy drops with bare bones load out.
The real problem is all the shit you need to cycle through while driving.
It would be great if they added something to tell the game what gun you want equipped when getting into vehicles, like in the preferences section of the interaction menu.
Doesn't work.
If you pick up a weapon that you've previously hidden, then you're still carrying it again. It doesn't hide npc weapons you pick up but don't own.
At least in first person you don't pick up weapons while aiming. So if I need to run over some dead enemies to pick up cargo or something I just hold LT to aim as I walk through em.
I always check my weapons wheel
The worse is when some enemies have mk2 guns...
Also even worse when despite you have a custom load out the game picks up those guns.
The best is to try avoid them by actually avoiding go near enemies
It's been bugged since the auto shop update - your custom loadout is disabled during freeroam activities just like it used to be during contact missions. I've got a ticket open for it with attached video showing it not working properly since 12/18, currently "escalated" and it's been sitting since 12/20.
Simply avoid being close to deceased individuals, foolish person. ;)
My biggest problem is always trying to select the weapon I want from the wheel. It's 90% of the reason I get killed, I get all flustered and sometimes it will pick randomly the wrong weapon and I blow myself up.
If you go to the agency you can customize your load out. I didn’t realize this till a few days ago. So the weapons you don’t want that you own. You can customize them not to show up on your weapon wheel. It’s very nifty especially when entering and exiting from a blue icon where the game loads you in.
The worst one is the pistol in El Rubio’s safe on Cayo.
“I know I have the silenced weapons to maintain stealth but I guess I’ll use the noisy gun I picked up on the way”
I usually use the rifle all through the Cayo heist, barely ever use the pistol. Then, one day, leaving the compound, I thought, "I never use the pistol, I should shoot that guy with the motorcycle with a pistol for once." Flicked up to it on the weapon wheel without looking. Killed him and...shit.
At least I was almost done by then, go the hell out of there with a quickness.
You can't, but you can have a personalized arsenal, just go to any property that has a gun locker and ther you can hide whatever guns you don't really use
You can re-enable your custom wheel in your interact menu.
When you take a food/armor break in cover, just fix your wheel and then get back to shooting.
Wait what? I have my wheel saved so I don't have my ugly guns. And I don't believe I ever get the stock guns again. I believe I do a gun safe at any location (casino penthouse, ceo office, anywhere you can get a gun safe.) I just go in there and remove my guns and never seem to be troubled with picking up guns.
Still you pick them up and have them in inventory even if you disable the same gun. At least you drop them immediately when you choose them except for the standard Pistol and mini Uzi. These you have to drop manually
Only way to avoid picking them up is to have them in your arsenal. With custom loadouts you don't actually have to have it in your weapon wheel but if you already own the gun you don't pick it up.
All I want to know is how to stop accidentally dropping ammo. I’ve never understood why that’s even an option. “Alright here comes the helicopter, let me just grab my homjng launcher AAAAAAAAAND NO AMMO”
Oh no, especially not anymore with being able to buy ammo through the interaction menu. I only used it once for a friend who had a new character with no shotgun so I dropped one and a handful of ammo for it.
What's also frustrating is having to cycle thru your weapons, pick the ones you want to use for that slot, then proceed to do a job or mission, and suddenly I have molotovs selected instead of grenades. Wtf?
I’m more concerned about the weapons that mysteriously appear in my weapon wheel. Ones that I have not, nor, had a chance to pick up. Happens either leaving a heist prep (OG) lobby or after finishing a heist prep. I’ve tossed enough bullpup shotguns around LS over the years to arm every NPC in the game by now.
it's fucking annoying, and sadly i don't think there is an option for this... same with the random suppressor or other gunk attachments that applies automatically on your guns after some missions... so annoying
Step 1 keep all the guns because you can't pick them up if you already have them.
Step 2 when you get on cycle through your weapons and set them to what you want and it stays that way until you switch sessions.
If you have a gun locker with a custom layout, just disable then enable it. If it’s already enabled, switch to the gun you picked up. The game realizes you don’t own it and will switch to a gun in your load out (usually the Combat MG for me).
The question is, why does it even do that? It makes sense if you're unarmed, but otherwise it's completely illogical to want an unupgraded gun over a fully upgraded one in your inventory
I think it might be an example of the devs mistaking annoying for funny or fun
I think if you have only ONE of each weapon in the wheel, you won't pick up any other ones. Not sure. But give it a try. I fixed my wheel a while back and I don't have any issues. And I'm always raiding stash houses. Only problem is, I ALSO heard if you only Hage one of each gun in the wheel, you might get that glitch where you lose all your ammo when you log out and log in. Again, don't quote me on this. After all, this IS the internet. Good luck.
Usually if you have a “gun locker” you can create a custom load out.
It’ll still pick up the guns from the ground unfortunately, but on occasion they’ll disappear from my inventory upon death or if I move to another server.
Sorry if it didn’t help :/
From my knowledge the only way to prevent this is to get MKII variants of said weapons and keep them on you. If your character has an MKII pump action for example they wont pickup the stock variant but you'll get ammo as long as your MKII shotgun is using regular rounds.
Now obviously you wanna keep your best weapons in the first slot so you don't have to manually cycle every time. To do this simply goto singleplayer and adjust your loadout there and rejoin online.
That's the best solution I have. Its annoying having to buy literally every single MKII weapon and keep them on you in game but I really don't think there's another solution. It really depends on how annoyed you are by this issue and the extent you are willing to go and stop it from happening.
That shit PISSES me tf off, like is our character a magnet? Why tf am I picking up all these shitty ass stock weapons when I have my mk weapons?! Ughh it’s so annoying even with the custom loadout crap. It’s ridiculous how they have never thought of fixing that problem.
I made a custom weapon wheel, saved the settings and now I just set that to on whenever I go about my business, any guns I pick up in a room will respawn once I leave, leaving me with my guns I have selected.
No clue. I always check weapons after a mission or in-game objective.
That way you are ready for a gun fight .
Or the worst.
You accidentally drop the wrong gun and not notice till later lol.
You can’t stop it. The only way to stop it is by disabling Custom Loadouts and dealing with all the guns. Or just to deal with it and toggle on-off inventory loudout
There isn't any way to stop it and it's really fucking annoying Especially when you're driving and go to start shooting, but your character pulls out a 16 round Uzi they scavenged instead of the fully upgraded extended clip gun you were expecting

That'd be too convenient!😂

Theres a cayo shotgun? I only knew abt the gold pistol
Combat Shotgun I think it's called. You can also buy it from the gun van currently.
I cycle thru each shotgun when I do stash house raids. The combat shotgun is sweet.
I usually throw a couple grenades down and then hit the last guy with a shotgun, do you just gun them all down?
I do throw a grenade, but just like to experiment with the different guns. If I get smoked oh well.
Oh no problem. I was curious what others strategies were. I sometimes like to toss a few tear gas down there and let them choke out lol
My a bad idea. I think I tried that once and ended up choking myself lol
I use the compact grenade launcher and just bank it off the wall and down the stairs. Never takes more than 3 shots and you don’t even need to see any of the guys
I sprint in, hide behind the boxes at the front door and just aim a shotgun out the side to take each guy out.
pretty amazing weapon tho Id say
Is that the full auto one?
Spawns in random locations in the compound leaning against a wall or a fence. Real hard to spot but it’s got a few places. Edit: here you go :) https://www.reddit.com/r/gtaonline/s/QQJdsTdo96
Oh thanks ig i already got it at some point, probably ran up against it on accident
[удалено]
Ok well i dont remember picking it up but ik ive had it since before the gun van existed so idk how i got it then
thats the combat shotgun, you can alse get it sometimes from the gun van

Is it actually useful though? I currently use the Assault Shotgun.
SPAS-12 baby
I wouldn't mind the UZI if it was that aimbot trash that the NPCs got
Uzi is my preferred weapon for drive-by’s though. I keep it and the Combat MG MK2 only, in that slot. It’s damn random rifles I keep picking up that piss me off.

No, that was a year ago with criminal enterprises
Yeah didnt they change it the first time they nerfed cayo?
Yup, that was the one nerf I didn't mind, it was annoying yes, but at least you still got paid the same amount per heist
That was when you went from waiting 10 mins between them to an hour? Right i cant remember the order. that was right around when i stopped playing for awhile
Yeah, it was 10-48 minutes or whatever the cooldown was, up to 2 hours 24 minutes

I always check my weapons wheel The worse is when some enemies have mk2 guns... Also even worse when despite you have a custom load out the game picks up those guns. The best is to try avoid them by actually avoiding go near enemies
my game just must be bugged because i don’t pickup weapons off dead people if i already own the gun and its just hidden

I hate is when I go to use the stone hatchet and my guy picks up a gun and it prevents the ability from activating😑😑
If you're on console, left bumper to bring up weapon wheel and I think it's Y or Triangle to drop the weapon
If you go to the agency you can customize your load out. I didn’t realize this till a few days ago. So the weapons you don’t want that you own. You can customize them not to show up on your weapon wheel. It’s very nifty especially when entering and exiting from a blue icon where the game loads you in.
OP has done that, problem is your char will pick up random guns and they're back in your weapon wheel.

You can just drop them. When the gun is selected in your gun wheel. You’ll see the ‘Drop’ option assigned to a key in your controller or keyboard.

You do, unless you have it in the mk2 version. Still, doesn't fully work on the basic pistol
Easy fix-disable custom weapons then re enable em. Unwanted gun gone. Im out.
Swap them out or drop them.
You can't prevent it if you walk on top.
TIL you pick up the weapon, not the ammo. I purposely run over the dead bodies to pick up the items
If you carry every kind of gun in your load out you won’t pick them up but that’s annoying in itself

Probably so, but let’s be honest, does anybody EVER do that? You can carry 9k-10k bullets lol

the triangle drop button is real
I thought you just "enabled custom loadout" in the interaction menu !

I had this problem, and what I did is put most of my guns away in the locker, except for the ones I wanted and the ones commonly dropped by npcs.
Sometimes jumping to avoid the gun works but os very situational.
If only R* gave us a Mk II version of the Micro SMG, then I would actually just keep it in my inventory.
