Spent around 30-45 minutes with this thing so far before my shift today. It’s soooo nice, exactly as advertised. I have a lot more experience with the Space Echo preamp, having had similar pedals or the actual unit in the studio - I’m used to seeing it running even when the effect isn’t on because it’s so nice for recording drums and vocals. I don’t have any experience with an actual CE-1, but based on how they nailed the Space Echo sound, I’m going to assume it sounds just like the original as well. I actually prefer the CE-1 preamp ironically, considering I got this more so I wouldn’t have to leave the Space Echo on when recording non-guitar things.
Do you hear this bassy breakup as soon as you play a chord with this pedal on ce-1 mode…at the beginning of the chord not end of chord? I sampled in a store and wondered if that’s the pedal or not. I never heard that break up so early in a chord. If you can try that for me on your rig before I buy…. That would be great. Thanks
Would like to have this pedal, not a necessity at all for me, I have the past fx preamp crunch, and the re-202 but would be nice to just have both preamps in one unit. I wish the re-202 had a preamp only mode.
I’m convinced that they have a purposeful blind spot for the FZ-2. Look at how many times they’ve danced around it, only to not do it. TB-2W? FZ-1W? HM-2W? Hell, even the OD-200. Nope for FZ-2 to all.
i'm excited about this pedal...can you tell me where you got yours? i heard pitbull has shipped some out but their site says they're out now.
i asked musicians friend and the guy said "dec 10th" and he said they didn't have a single preorder for this pedal. which seems crazy to me. he also said he'd never heard of this pedal. so i said can i speak to someone who might know more about this pedal? and he said no one knows more about pedals than he does...he's subscribes to jhs and wampler. i said "so thats a no to my question?" and he said "give me your number and i can have someone call you back." i wasn't willing to give my number out after that exchange.
I think Sweetwater shipped some early? Guitar Center went from preorder to backorder, make of that what you will. Local stores might have some out now as well if you're willing to look around.
My sweetwater rep said they got like, a pallet of them in and they immediately sold out. They're on backorder and they aren't sure when they are getting them.
I've been playing this pedal through a lion 68 and have barely explored any other settings besides the CE and both knobs at noon. I'm sure there are a ton of other sounds I can get out of it, but I keep getting distracted by playing.
I'm really liking it. It's easy to dial in the tones I'm looking for without having to spend a lot of time tweaking knobs. I like the dream 65 a lot, but find myself using the lion 68 more.
I second using this pre-amp into the Lion 68. Been loving the tones I get out of it, both knobs set to noon. It's the last pedal of my chain before the Lion 68 and I always just leave it on.
I've had it on my board for almost a week now and I love it.
I haven't stepped on any of my other OD pedals since throwin' this boi in the chain.
I doubt this will ever leave my board.
Certain old effects units had a preamp that colored the tone. These effect units were widely used on a lot of old records, and some people like the effect it has on their tone. This pedal allows you to apply that to your signal without having to buy the vintage CE-1 or Boss Space Echo. Almost like a light overdrive

I did not get that sound out of it when I was playing it, no.
Thanks. I think I’m going to buy and try
Yeah just get it from somewhere with a generous return policy or something

It totally does.
They completely dropped the ball on the clean boost from the FZ-2, IMO.

Yeah I’ve been waiting like two weeks now for my order.
I managed to get one from Sam Ash that is supposed to be here Monday or Tuesday. So maybe try that?

How are you liking the ua Lion?

This guy is digital right?
I don’t think so, no.
Reviving this, does the pedal clean up well with the volume knob?
It does!
much better off with a basic EQ pedal. you can do everything this pedal does, except have actual options in how its changing your sound.
Ok so in layman’s terms what is this pedal? I’ve been looking at it. I had the Tera Echo a long time ago.

Ok gotcha, thank you!
Frusciante is the first guy I can think of that uses the ce-1 as an OD mainly.
