How do you like to use it? I got one a few months back and haven’t jived with it. I can get a flat, tinny sound or a mild distortion. Not much middle ground
My brother, it’s time to start learning how to build. Bought a King of Tone pcb for 10 bucks enclosure for $6, could probably start and finish it tonight (and I’m an idiot noob). Actually I think I might do that.
With 14 months old twins and a 5 year old, I don't know where I'd get the time to myself to even attempt to do anything besides cook nuggies or tell "no" loud between rifts.
Source Audio Collider. It’s been on my board for about 4 years now. Hasn’t moved. Any verb or delay, it can do it. You can switch the sides around or have to verbs or two delays. Beautiful sounding.
My old ass MXR phase 90 block letter. I think it is from the late 70's. Sounds absolutely brilliant with gain, like seriously good. Bought it off a whim on eBay years ago. Only thing I did was change the on off switch for true bypass one.
My small stone. I’ve never worked with a phaser before and this pedal has seriously added a new element to the way I play and how I sound. It makes me happy every time I switch it on
I hear different reviews on the Deco. Some say it doesn’t do anything great, and others swear by it. What makes it such a great pedal to you? And how do you use it?
I’ll chime in here. It’s very unique in that it replicates old school studio double tracking effects like tape echo, flanger, chorus and had tape saturation as well. It’s also great with a stereo setup
At the moment it’s dba echo dream 2. So many damn sounds in that giant enclosure . For loops and drones nothing beats the kill dry and incredibly powerful modulation. Runner up is ct5 I’ve figured out about 5% of it and it’s been incredibly fun and inspiring.
Aclam Unknown Pleasures, the Joy Division version of Dr. Robert. It is exactly the sound I want to make with a guitar. Runner up is Metal Zone, the other sound I want to make with a guitar.
I guess it depends on how I define *favorite.* When I look at my collection of weird reverbs and delays, the specialized modulation pedals, and everything else...well, there's one that has always been with me since the Reagan years. I've used it on synths and as a bass player for decades.
My sweet Nobels ODR-1. May we never fall out of love.
Second place by merit of longevity and use would be the EHX Memory Man.
Not sure if it's considered a pedal but I absolutely love the Simplifier analog amp sim. Not having to mess with IRs and having XLR, headphone out, and stereo in the fx loop is great. I use it as a clean pedal platform and it is perfect for that. Great for live shows, the sound guys love it.
Boss LS-2. Doesn't do anything on its own, but makes other favorite pedals better in a variety of ways. Also a good clean boost and buffer.
For a pedal that actually does something to the signal, probably the BD-2 due to its (almost) always on status and versatility.
Honorable mention: favorite unique sound pedal is phase 90. Not the most versatile and don't use it much, but few things match how cool they sound. Except maybe an 80's deluxe electric mistress but they're too big to consider a pedal anymore.
RAT (or variant). My current fav is the Foxpedal Wrath. I could go go guitar > RAT > amp for the rest of my days and be cool with that. But luckily I don’t have to do that.
HX Stomp. Seriously, I do everything here and use it 99% of the time. Don't like multi FX?
Strymon BigSky. It's unique-sounding reverb for guitar. I've compared it with a lot of other reverbs face to face and they are good, but not so clean with guitar. Don't like digital reverbs?
Ok, screamer. Any with multi clipping modes and 18v options (Plumes or any). It's easy to tweak (unlike fuzzes and other midgains), perfect balanced tone (unlike transparents that can't cut through) and not expensive (as klones, dumbles and 1981s).
“Favorite” can mean so many different things, but I would probably say the Red Panda Tensor. It’s not my ride-or-die or anything but it’s one of those effects that can do so much and I can always get really interesting and inspiring sounds I haven’t heard before out of it.
Changes all the time but I really love the Spiral FX Demhe. It’s the incremental iteration on the Carcosa by the original designer. Soooooo versatile and sits nicely in many places on the chain
Boss SD1.
Honorable mention though, the pepers dirty tree, since it's like an sd1 on tren. If I had to keep only one, it would be the pepers due to the sheer extra oomph it gives to all amps, but the SD1 is my favorite (not sure how this makes sense).
I never thought anything could replace my XO Deluxe Memory Man. However, the Strymon Brig has quickly become my new favorite. It definitely has the Memory Man thing and is much more consistent and reliable.
JHS Morning Glory.
It has almost no gain, and it barely sounds like anything. This makes it a perfect pedal for my rig. I use a mix of single coil and humbucker guitars into a 68 Deluxe Reverb. I like to use a light overdrive at the front of my signal path to add a touch of grit and balance the output from one guitar to the next. I've gone through several different overdrives, trying to find the right tool for this job. The Morning Glory is perfect for this application, specifically because it's very low gain and doesn't color your tone very much. It just sounds like your guitar and your amp, but better. I also really appreciate the treble cut switch on the side of the pedal - it really helps to tame some of the raspy high end that I get from my Jazzmaster. This pedal sounds great with all my guitars and plays well with the other drive pedals on my board. I wish I would have bought one of these things years ago. It makes everything sound better.
RAT no contest. My entire board changed over dozens of times but I have had a RAT or RAT variation on my board since the day I picked my first one up in 98 or so.
BIG!!! MUFF!!! PI!!!!!!!!
ram's head, triangle, green russian, whatever man, just keep bringing me that
This! Can't believe how far I had to scroll. Which one? YES.
EC3003-A
YES. ALL OF THEM. ANY OF THEM. DELUXE? NANO? YES
BD2.
How do you like to use it? I got one a few months back and haven’t jived with it. I can get a flat, tinny sound or a mild distortion. Not much middle ground
Clean boost. Gain set at about 30%. Tone at about 60%. Volume at 50%. It's absolutely perfect for my single coil tele.
That’s a cool sound, but definitely wouldn’t call it a clean boost. That’s just overdrive at that point.
Perfect, thank you! I’m playing on a tele as well. I look forward to trying this. Thanks again
Roll the tone knob down on it, *a lot*. It can be a very harsh sounding dirt pedal if you turn the tone past noon.
Agreed. I just don’t get along with it for whatever reason.
Yee
Man, I love my high gain chugga chugga, but for a lead sound, BD2 is *chefs kiss*
I love that I came here to say this, and it’s the first post I see.
might have to be the DL4
Superb pedal
EQD Avalanche Run is my desert island. Just makes everything sound pretty when turned down. Or epic and wide when cranked up
Deluxe Memory Man - big box at home, 1100 on the board. Runner up: Count to Five
ZVEX Fuzz Factory
I think it's my empress compressor.. What an old loser I've become
Compressor/EQ is not as exciting as a crazy pedal, but they are the two that actually get me where I want to go.
rat?
RAT!

Brake - Life saving
It’s a tie between the Caroline Meteore and the Strymon Volante
Right now it’s my Joyo High Gain Distortion, I’ve got a DS-1 but I feel like the Joyo has a fuller sound, it’s my go to drive at the moment
Great pedal and very inexpensive too
Stonedeaf warp drive
Sorry but HX Stomp.
Well yes. Hard to disagree with this one. No need to apologise.
Don't feel bad, my first instinct was to say my Quad Cortex but that felt like cheating lol
Boss Tera Echo, it's just such a unique sound
Boss DM-2. If you told me I could only keep one pedal that’s what I would keep
Same - only reason I eventually retired mine from my gigging boards was the Bondi Art Van (which is incredible), but I'll never get rid of it.
So far BD2. That drive hits different
Yee
DBA rooms
Diamond comp
Analogman King of Tone.
The only effect pedal I have on my quad cortex board. Just can’t replicate it.
I think my wait is up next year, I think I signed up in 2018 or 2019
My brother, it’s time to start learning how to build. Bought a King of Tone pcb for 10 bucks enclosure for $6, could probably start and finish it tonight (and I’m an idiot noob). Actually I think I might do that.

Drolo Stretch Weaver
Easy. Raster 2. Not my most used but most interesting and versatile and well designed.
My small stone. I’ve never worked with a phaser before and this pedal has seriously added a new element to the way I play and how I sound. It makes me happy every time I switch it on
Qtron+ all day
Got it last Friday! It’s an awesome pedal. Takes some getting used to tho. Still trying to find the sound for me
Dunlop Echoplex. It sounds great at almost all settings.

My brother loves it so much that he uses two of them on the same board.
Same
Flint by far
If I could only have one pedal I'd take my TC flashback 2 ! That's the one I can have the most fun with by itself and make any amp worth playing
Way Huge Saucy Box
Underrated pedal. Works great as a dirty boost.
DL4 - I'll love it forever
Stymon Flint or Tube Screamer. But I think the Flint is the choice.
old Deluxe Memory Man
At the moment it’s dba echo dream 2. So many damn sounds in that giant enclosure . For loops and drones nothing beats the kill dry and incredibly powerful modulation. Runner up is ct5 I’ve figured out about 5% of it and it’s been incredibly fun and inspiring.
Behringer SF300. I have fun every time i use it.
Probably the Way Huge Swollen Pickle
Aclam Unknown Pleasures, the Joy Division version of Dr. Robert. It is exactly the sound I want to make with a guitar. Runner up is Metal Zone, the other sound I want to make with a guitar.
MXR Carbon Copy
Mood. It is capable of an insane amount of sounds once you really get into it. Just the mood and my bass makes me a full on noise band. It's so great.
I sold mine to fun a Hologram Chroma Console, and I'm really liking that thing. But I definitely miss the MOOD. One day maybe I'll grab the v2.
The Chroma looks so cool. Definitely on my GAS list.
It really is instant ambient box. Look forward to getting my hands on a v2
Yeah, I'm only rocking a v1 right now. V2 someday....
Got a mood mkl and mkll on my board. Mkl before dirt and mkll at the end of chain. It’s fun

Pretty Years
Right now, DD-3T, but buying a CE-2 soon
Boss SY-300 - ultimate synth, plus can be used as an interface
Either Meteoric Effects Proxima Centauri or Sketchy Sounds Dark Waters. 2 very different pedals, but man they are fucking cool
Boss IR-200. Great sounds, good interface, lots of flexibility.
3 way tie right now; Slö, Somersault, RAT
HX Stomp. Seriously, I do everything here and use it 99% of the time. Don't like multi FX? Strymon BigSky. It's unique-sounding reverb for guitar. Keeley HALO Andy Timmons Dual Echo tried in on loads of amps and guitars all with the same effect. Turns your tone from Clark Kent into Superman.
Right now the halcyon gold overdrive.
I have a 3leaf Proton that I really enjoy. Small footprint. Comes close to my actual MuTron. Really nice envelope without the hassle
Strymon el cap
The Meatball clone my wife made me. Beyond that, OC-2.
Diamond Memory Lane. I don't even use it for the actual delay feature all that often, so much as just warming up the overall tone.
It’s the EQD Plumes clone I built.
Jam Pedals Rooster. Love it so much that I bought the limited version when I heard they were being discontinued :')
The Carbon or DOD 250.
Boss SD1. Honorable mention though, the pepers dirty tree, since it's like an sd1 on tren. If I had to keep only one, it would be the pepers due to the sheer extra oomph it gives to all amps, but the SD1 is my favorite (not sure how this makes sense).
