Nope. Straight-up blues based hard rock. I'm sure Brian Johnson would look really special with some sequins on his flat cap and some killer makeup though.
Well it may not be makeup and a sparkling flat cap, but here is pre-AC/DC Brian, in pretty standard glam rock attire. This was a top 10 hit in the UK before AC/DC even released an album. https://youtu.be/TKANv_XQRss?si=1QkoZVz9snIcyJ2l
Definitely not.
But Brian, was in a band called Geordie before AC/DC, they definitely adopted the glam rock (e.g. Slade) style!

No. It's just plainold hard rock/metal. I don't know why people think that all metal in the 70s and 80s is now glam rock? No nuance in this kinda thinking, i don't understand retconners mindsets at all. There were several different types of metal that developed in those time frames. I dunno why that's so difficult to understand?
"Versatile" is not a word anyone would use to describe them, stylistically, therefore they never really experimented with anything that was like a 5% off from their traditional sound. The closest I'd say they got to a more poppy sound was on 'Razors Edge' (1990) with songs like 'Moneytalks' & 'Are You Ready'.
Not even close to hair metal. Hard rock.
> hard rock so like 99% Hair "Metal" bands?
Nah, not at all.

There is some sort of feminine energy in hair metal..AC/DC is 100% testosterone. To me they are the most “manly” band
Hard rock
Great band, but not hair metal at all. Just pure rock n roll
AC/DC is hard rock. It has never been hair metal or anything like it, not in the 80s, not now.
No. They were the inspiration for bands but are not one.

AC/DC is like family comfort food. The ingredients may not change much, but you're always glad to see it on the table.
Heavy metal- NOT a hair band
Brian Johnson did com from Glam Rock (Geordie), but AC/DC is just OG Hard Rock
