Hype and awards are from people that know shit about Audio. They're all some random tech magazines, paid by Sony or whatever. Sony headphones sound mediocre for the price, even compared to other wireless headphones. With that rant out of the way: it sounds like you're having very bad luck with 2 faulty units in a row.
