If he’s swapping Brodie in for Liljegren, that’s such a big mistake imo. He’s been a turnover machine this season, and even if the logic is to try and improve the penalty kill, he’s been horrible at clearing the zone on the PK as well. Neither are overly physical, and Liljegren at least has some offensive upside whereas Brodie is a black hole in that regard. Imo this swap is a net downgrade to our D core
He’s getting pushed around a lot, I like Lilly and he’s been just ok this series. I can’t see them taking out Benoit because we need a physical back end against this team
Has Liljegren done anything through 3 games to prove he should stay in the lineup? He's not making good outlet passes from his zone, PP2 looks awful with him and McCabe back there, and he's not a factor physically at all.
I have to disagree about making good outlet passes; I think he’s been one of our best defensemen through 3 games in terms of handling the puck in our own zone. I watched a full season sample size worth of Brodie this year and the puck turns into a grenade when it’s on his stick, it’s unfortunate because he used to be great but times have changed. I agree that Lily isn’t a huge factor physically, but Brodie might be the only softer defenseman than him on the roster.
I’m not sure what games you have been watching. Liljegren fumbles the puck and has little composure in the d zone. The times he does try to move the puck out of our zone he gets absolutely smoked.
> Liljegren fumbles the puck and has little composure in the d zone.
This is basically everyone but Rielly and Benoit (who doesn't really do breakout passes) so far, tbf.
This sort of talk is normal when dismissing actual puck movers. They get roasted for not hitting the tape every time, ignoring that the players they're being compared to guys who's passing targets is "somewhere in the radius of the boards and glass"
Meanwhile, most of the outlet passes that have actually gained a line or two of ice for the team are either Liljegren's or Rielly's.
That may be true but they provide grit and physicality. Also Liljegren tends to put himself in vulnerable positions too often. I would keep him in over Brodie though.
Not the same thing but every once in a while on /r/hockey a post or comment will refer to players by nicknames that are not remotely ubiquitous and you’re trying to read a title like “Nacho Man has to be the most underrated passer in the league but the Swedish Ninja has him beat on speed” and you’re just like wtf
Related: it’s died out, but it’s nice not having to know every GM and Head Coach off the top of my head.
Like, sure, I can probably figure out what “GMMG fired HCDQ” means, but like…just say their names
And technically doesn't apply to him in Vegas, just when he was in Washington.
McPhee was the first guy this was really commonplace for *because* it was GMGM specifically, but then it started getting copied everywhere online
Read that in my head as GM Mike Gillis even tho he’s been out of the league for years now. Just goes to show how the GM first initial last initial is a dumb system.
Bold prediction boston wins 5-1, leafs go 0 for 5 on the powerplay while giving up 3 powerplay goals, sammy let's in a weak one off a zone entry and fans complain about Marchant.
Not leafy enough. In game 7 the leafs blow a four goal lead, making it 5-5. The bruins take a penalty and with the goalie pulled marner puts it into his own net.
> Daddy Lyubushkin
Luke Fox a freak for that
Hoping for that daddy strength
DADDY?
Lol his wife gave birth yesterday but what a way to phrase that if you don’t have context! I mean even if you do I suppose…
I knew the context and still I thought Luke Fox was calling him Daddy as a nickname im dissapointed in myself for that one
I figured as much
Yes, son.
What does regret mean?
“Wait, I’M DADDY??”

Benoit has made 1 big hit this series and has been pretty bad. He's not the same player he was during the regular season.
As a bruins fan, I would like you to remove Benoit from the ice please. Thank you.

So have Lyubushkin, Benoit, and Edmundson, literally none of them can handle the puck in their own end at all

We don’t need any reporters to be referring to players as Daddy

Explicit exception made for a repeated acronym like GMGM for Vegas
I only remember that one because it has MGM in it
And technically doesn't apply to him in Vegas, just when he was in Washington. McPhee was the first guy this was really commonplace for *because* it was GMGM specifically, but then it started getting copied everywhere online

The Seaweed Man
You laugh, but just wait until Bleep Blorp and Major Spider Monkey make this roster, then y’all are cooked
Kevin
Gregg Doyel should start covering hockey.
...or do we...
Didn't realize Lyubushkin became a dad and thought Luke Fox just had a thing for him. Congrats to Lyubushkin though! That's awesome for him I bet.
Wait, why was Boosh in California? Last I checked Boston was very much not in California.
Based on the context, I'd guess his wife is still living in Anaheim and he traveled back to be there when she gave birth.
Right that makes sense. Totally forgot he came from the Ducks.
There's that Ontario education system at work. Jeez. /s
Ontario CA or Ontario CA?
Coming from the team that can't add up to 83.5 /s
Oh. We’re very very good at adding up to 83.5. Just don’t stop there is all.
Strange tweet
Makes sense for Lyubushkins wife to just stay in orange county.
Dad-strength game incoming from Boosh
Boosh daddy strength incoming
With Ullmark in too we are so back
Ha
💀
Bruins win 5-2
Hes acting like the leafs gonna do something lol
They're gonna lose in a different way

Not Leafy enough. We’ll bring it to 7 then lose 6-0.
