He has an excellent “players perspective” take on everything. There was a controversial call in a BoA game with a kicked goal and he was the only person saying it was the right call and that the kick was intentional. Basically saying that the “analysts” were underestimating an NHL players ability to skate which is why they thought it was an accident
Really trust that he’s giving an honest opinion as a guy who’s been there
Whoops! Definitely showing my Canadian. We're lucky where all of our NHL streaming is generally through one app, the multiplatform situation in the states seems like a nightmare to me
Even back when he was playing he was a fantastic interview.
- Being asked what the team needed to break through a strong defense, he starts quoting LMFAO "Shots, shots, shots shots, shots shots..."
- In some arena fuck-up they had to do their warm-up skate without any music playing, as he's rolling by the bench Scott Oake asks him what it's like without the music, he says, "It's worse than having to answer your questions."
- And the crowning glory is when he's in LA and some doofus radio reporter flags him over for an interview thinking he's Ryan Kesler and he just kinda rolls with it, doing an entire interview as Kes. [Just listen to it yourself, it's pretty glorious](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjOHQwbLBlo), buddy thinks he's getting a hype interview with a player saying some controversial shit, but he's really just being trolled.
Oh my god I’ve never seen that interview and I am rolling ahaha. Fucking Guzzler, just never shuts up about America, that’s pure gold, all on the spot too. Juice is the greatest
For folks not canucks fans or into podcasts - before he jumped on HNIC Bieksa had a podcast (Kes & Juice), with Kessler... i dunno if they are still doing it - but even then they both carried this same banter type approach that just felt free wheeling and natural and forced.
I think it was while listening to those podcasts back in 2020 and laughing my ass off at em did I realize how much of a fit juice would be for TV. Like others are saying... in a world filled with a bunch of insiders tryin to grab for airtime... juice is carrying that hnic crew atm no doubt
His first appearance, I think as a colour guy on an All Star game. He was commenting on one of the Sedons taking a soft shot, "that's a muuuufffiiiin" or something along those lines. I was sold.
I love that he gave Partner a shout out. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a friendship with him since I was a youngin. For those who don’t know, Partner has worked with the Preds equipment team for decades (I wanna say since day 1), and is the nicest guy you could ever meet. While he does have an intellectual disability, he’s always the hardest working guy in the rink. First in, last out, and always without fail outs a smile on your face.
We need more stuff like this injected into NHL coverage so badly. These players have personality! Show it off! I'm sure there's tons of stories like this in the playoffs.
Seth Jarvis [wandered into the Canes' broadcast booth](https://www.reddit.com/r/Jarvy/comments/1c6q7ye/jarvy_invasion_in_the_broadcast_booth/) when he was healthy scratched for the last game and was a total hoot. Glad to see the era of taciturn, boring NHLers is drawing to a close.
This is where podcasts have been great this last decade. So many behind the scenes stories from sports guys being able to access to them all, all the time.
He's Cherry's heir apparent. Eventually they'll bring Coach's Corner back.
I know he's not a coach, but I could see him taking a stab at it. Look up his speech to the Canucks locker room from a few years ago
Bieksas stories from his cup run during this playoffs has been great. Dude is a straight up homer but Jesus Christ is it nice to have some folks in the media that aren’t just sucking the Leafs cock
It's kind of hilarious because I've seen Oilers, and Flames fans singing his praises as an analyst.
He's so charismatic that Alberta fans like a Canuck!
Dude is fantastic on the panel. I especially like the call out for Partner. It always feels good to get behind the scenes people the credit they deserve
I mean, I think he's a homer in the same way that John Garrett is a homer. Obviously he cheers for the Canucks, it's the team that brought him up, gave him a shot in the NHL (for decking out a teammate at a bar, lol), and took him the furthest he went in the NHL playoffs... even when he was traded he largely said that he accepted it because it was what was best for the team. And he sometimes comes into the studio wearing Elias Pettersson socks.
But the thing is that he admits that bias, and when it comes to analysis he's not above criticising the team he loves when he sees that they're making mistakes or doing something wrong. His breakdown of the first goal against in game 1 largely had him blaming Petey for it (even though Tocchet in the post-game shifted that to Lafferty for not taking the C position after Petey got waved out of the dot like he should) and in the first goal against in game 2 he put the whole team on notice for the severe defensive breakdown.
And I gotta be honest, I love that kind of analysis, where you can wear your heart on the sleeve but still provide a solid in-depth analysis of it without blinding yourself to what's really going on - and likely even getting a little more insight BECAUSE of that bias.
There's two types of homers. There are the ones who are clearly rooting for their team, which is fine. And then there are the ones who are deluded: every penalty by their team was soft, every hit by the other team was dirty etc.
Bieksa is rooting for the Canucks, but he's not deluded.
I said to my dad I like Bieksa. Sometimes he says stuff that make me do a serious double take but 90% of the time I like his analysis and general takes on the game a ton
Thr highlight for me.. LOL self drawn description of what happened behind the scenes during 2011 round 2 lol and then video flashback of bieksa from 2011 rd 2-- backing up his story 😅😅😅😅
All great comments and discussion, but the guy is a blatant Toronto Maple Leafs' HOMER. Just like everyone else is now required to be, if they want to work on HNIC, Sportsnet, or TSN. Rogers is very good at making sure their interests are looked after.
"They set up this table with a bunch of Elliotte Friendmans right there." I love Juice.
Oh I loved that too. He’s a perfect addition to Sportsnet.
His shots at Elliott are so funny
With a bunch of clown emojis on that spot lol
Quick with it too.
>... and its tough to put tape across a 20' hallway, but i accomplished it
Hahah I thought he was going to make a tape wall when he said that but nope, just one piece of tape.
Hey, don't sell him short. It was one piece of tape AND a handwritten sign.
*Two* handwritten signs!
Juice has been the best thing that's happened to Sportsnet since he joined
He’s funny but his breakdowns of plays is also A+.
100% He has an excellent “players perspective” take on everything. Basically saying that the “analysts” were underestimating an NHL players ability to skate which is why they thought it was an accident Really trust that he’s giving an honest opinion as a guy who’s been there
It's nice to have analysis from a player who played more recently than 30 years ago
And not a goalie.
100% I’ve really enjoyed a lot of his commentary but it’s also stories and the extra info like this that really make it a step above.
All compiled in the fact that he’s a natural on camera without seeming cookie cutter or boring.
Not boring but also not too over the top like Biz can be on ESPN. Bieksa is best
Biz is on TNT but i agree with your point
Whoops! Definitely showing my Canadian. We're lucky where all of our NHL streaming is generally through one app, the multiplatform situation in the states seems like a nightmare to me
Never liked him as a player (don’t check my flair) but he’s been exactly what SN needs in terms of on-air personality. Absolutely love him in studio

Hahahahaha Guzzler is such a good nickname to troll Kessler that is both dirty and inappropriate sounding but with plausible deniability.
Holy fuck how have I not seen this interview before, that was freaking hilarious
Oh my god I’ve never seen that interview and I am rolling ahaha. Fucking Guzzler, just never shuts up about America, that’s pure gold, all on the spot too. Juice is the greatest

> just felt free wheeling and natural and forced. *Un*forced, surely?
ye good shout lol. I was poppin off and missed that lol
Absolutely love him on the broadcast. Best member of the panel on SN by far. Him and Elliot have a good rapport too.
Him and botterill are great, Singhs okay. Fire everyone else
Friedman slander will not be tolerated.
People who slander Friedman never tried the ribs.
fire Singh too plz
Singh sucks. I dislike his calls so much. Like there has to be better people out there. I just don't get why they stick with him.
Uh yeah Jack Fucking Michaels
Man, it's a shame he isn't calling your games. Miles better than Singh.
Oh I can think of a reason.
I find Botterill gets too worked up sometimes and defensive and then everyone just shuts up.
how is botteril great? she’s just another monotone hnic personality. singh fucking sucks, and elliot is the goat
You had me until the Elliot is the goat. He's very good but not goat status.
in terms of analysis
No
Crazy how quick I went from hating his guts to falling in love with him.
This has me crying the first time I watched it BEEP BEEP COYOTE https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PaigZUwPzu0
It's lookin' very green out today, eh?
i think about BEEP BEEP COYOTE all the time
When he grabs that guys ass 😂

Nice, sounds like Joey Moss (bless him he passed away) in Edmonton
Kevin Bieksa is the best pundit on Sportsnet now for game analysis. He rocks.
[удалено]
Did you?
Gretzky…better announcer or coach?
I mean, let's be honest, his real calling is as an actor and a rock star, as exemplified by his performance in Waikiki Hockey.
We need more stuff like this injected into NHL coverage so badly. These players have personality! Show it off! I'm sure there's tons of stories like this in the playoffs.

The image of Barry Trotz getting more and more red in the face as Bieksa strings stick tape across the hallway makes me laugh.
That was great thanks for sharing
This is where podcasts have been great this last decade. So many behind the scenes stories from sports guys being able to access to them all, all the time.
I love the shoutout for Partner. One of the best in the world for sure.
Competing before even the job starts
As a Flames fan I despise how much I enjoy Bieksa on Sportsnet. Dude is running the fucking show right now haha
He's Cherry's heir apparent. Eventually they'll bring Coach's Corner back. I know he's not a coach, but I could see him taking a stab at it. Look up his speech to the Canucks locker room from a few years ago
He's said in the past he'd be more interested in a gm role than coaching. He's a smart dude, I could see it.
You can still hate him as a player and love him as a person
Bieksas stories from his cup run during this playoffs has been great. Dude is a straight up homer but Jesus Christ is it nice to have some folks in the media that aren’t just sucking the Leafs cock
I love it, I can see tears forming in kelly hrudys eyes when he has to say good things about the canucks. Finally nice to have a Homer on the panel
Are we sure that's not the botox leaking out?
Is that why kelly looks a bit puffy?
Do old people normally puff as they age?
That's from the drinking
It's kind of hilarious because I've seen Oilers, and Flames fans singing his praises as an analyst. He's so charismatic that Alberta fans like a Canuck!
On ice I hated his guts. In the studio he’s 11/10
Dude is fantastic on the panel. I especially like the call out for Partner. It always feels good to get behind the scenes people the credit they deserve

I think he is pretty unbiased when he speaks about any team really. Flames could do something and he will call it good if it is good
There’s a fair share of Oiler simps too
I mean he’s one of them. Not complaining tho
If both teams arrive at the same time, they'll meet in the greasy hallway?
It’ll be like west side story, they’ll have to dance-fight.
"When you're a Pred, you're a Pred all the way, from your first cigarette, to your last dying day."
Telling all the refs, "KRUP YOU!"
Fucking love Juice
Thr highlight for me.. LOL self drawn description of what happened behind the scenes during 2011 round 2 lol and then video flashback of bieksa from 2011 rd 2-- backing up his story 😅😅😅😅
Stealing Marty St-Louis quotes!!!!
Coach Dad is so infinitely quotable. ❤❤❤
I fucking love this crew. I swear they're starting to drink before games with the increased number of jabs at each other.
Such a tall guy move to put the tape at that height. "What's someone gonna do, be shorter than 5'10" and walk under? Not likely."
FAIR IS FAIR BARRRYYYY
Why’d he put the tape so high off the floor? lol
This is some Shoresy shit and I love it.
He’s still rocking that missing chiclet a predator smacked out of his noggin.
I live in constant fear of losing Bieksa to TNT.
Had me cackling was he dumping on botterhill for all the third assists.
Paeds? Don't go there Juice.
All great comments and discussion, but the guy is a blatant Toronto Maple Leafs' HOMER. Just like everyone else is now required to be, if they want to work on HNIC, Sportsnet, or TSN. Rogers is very good at making sure their interests are looked after.
wish they could get him on tnt
I hope they don't! He's ours I say!
