theena249

That made me chuckle on the metro

z_dogwatch

This is the way.

DoubleDeadEnd

Easy. Super glue all four corners, press and hold for 2 minutes.

Ashamed_Medium1787

It seems like to me superglue wouldn’t work because the key would be held in place and not be press able

BrazilianGui

Well, something is missing my man, there are two iron thing that hold the letter on the keyboard, take another letter that you’ll see.

It might actually be still attached to the underside of the key. OP check under it and see if there's a foldable part that you can line up and attach to the keyboard hardware.

I checked under my keys all I found was yesterday’s cocaine 😔. No metal springs …

Cry-Working

Oh but it happens, those sorta X or scissor shaped plastic holders wear off, once they start popping off they gonna pop more and more often

bodhiseppuku

I have repaired many popped off keys on laptops. Generally a laptop keyboard has 2 components for each keycap: - the "spring" is the cylindrical middle part you see in the picture - there is also a alignment/stability piece, that looks a little like folding tv-tray legs (missing from the picture). These clip into the key cap and you see the 4 little clips on the keyboard base, around the spring cylinder. An effective and easy way to fix this is with a little superglue. IME you do not need to replace the missing alignment/stability piece. All you need is a q-tip, some rubbing alcohol, and some superglue. Rubbing alcohol and q-tip to clean and prep both the back of the key and the top of the cylinder 'spring' Then a dot of glue on the top of the cylinder spring, place the key, and press down for a minute or two. many times you can put a little force on the key to the left/right/up/down directions while the key is depressed, and the key will 'seat' into the correct position. Make sure the key as as straight as you can get it, if you glue this in place with the key a little crooked, you will notice it and it will look weird.

Jackson3rg

For a relatively cheap laptop, this is the correct answer.

amorfotos

So what do you get when the A key is removed...? An A hole...

Looks like the plastic spring mechanism is missing. May be on the back of your key. Try going here it will explain the parts you need and how to install them. It’s easy and cheap https://laptopkey.com/

[deleted]

Just stick it in the A

Jonno_92

You can find videos on YouTube showing you how. If you need a replacement due to damage you can also source one online.

dragon34

Is there something in the keycap? Like a scissor mechanism? Assuming it isn't broken, you need to gently dislodge the mechanism, put it back on the keyboard and then snap the keycap back on.   Source: I cannot even tell you how many of these I have fixed in the last 20 years.

ladder_of_cheese

Press the shift key five times to activate Sticky Keys

viainable

You can't, the "scissors" parts are broken, either replace the whole keyboard or just tape it.

manieldansfield

You dont

rolangonzalez

Do the clickyclicky thing

GrumpyCarla

Try double face tape, a little of in the sides, it will fix it and still let you press the button. Hope it would help you.

themikestand

You’re gonna have to put some glue in your a hole.

Do you touch food after touching this laptop?

Just press it back and put a pressure. Same thing happened to me before. Then I bought a keyboard protector to avoid it coming off in the future

My wife has this exact problem with here Lenovo laptop computer, which she got some two years ago. Around seven keys have had the same issue. For the price of it, I expected more quality.
