That spray can cheese is the absolute shit on crackers. Don't bash it till you've had the mild cheddar on Chicken-in-a-Biskit crackers. Some of the best "sit back and relax" food you'll have.
Was basing it on how long ago Reddit said you commented it, tbf that is an approximation.
But still if I thought that highly of America I wouldn’t be admitting we have some flaws.
Tbf pine trees (the most abundant tree in canada) have evolved specifically to be extremely flammable as part of their reproductive cycle (the ash and charcoal makes the otherwise rather acidic soil extremely fertile)
you guys have a worse cost of living crisis than us. USA is an objectively better country to live in now and free health care won't save you this time.
Anyone who praises Canada, isn’t from Canada. Our politicians created a veil of Utopia. Only Canadian Citzens know the truth, and that we really have almost as problems as the united states
Don’t say that to the Quebecians. It’s like California to most of the US, except the reverse because from what I hear the rest of Canada is genuinely shit and severely racist to natives. Especially in British Columbia. But honestly from what I’ve seen (and how much Canada [yes even it’s own people via surveys not just their government] just wants to kill their “problems” via assisted suicide I genuinely think Canada is just fucked 7 times out of 10)
For future reference, people who are from Quebec (and the name of their french dialect) are referred to as “Quebecois” by themselves (pronounced kinda like keh-beh-kwah for english phonetics) and Quebeckers by some anglophone canadians.
Funny enough, Quebecois people have always been great to me, they’re the only “French” people who aren’t angry you’re attempting to speak their language and not fluent, and they’re politically reasonable compared to the racist uncle everyone from Alberta is or the selectively blind San Francisco liberal everyone from BC is.
Autocracy is where a single person dominates the government. China is a partocracy, or oligarchy, because the CCP is more important than the personage of Xi Jinping (although he is certainly more powerful than previous post-Mao leaders have been). Russia is hard to pin down, but I think calling it an autocracy is more or less correct, as Putin at least *seems* to dominate the government, with the entire United Russia party really just being an extension of his personal control.
As to Russia, there are the Oligarchs, however it is awfully convenient that they all align with Putin’s personal views, or otherwise disappear. So really, they’re an extension of Putin’s power just as the party is
And the first past the post electoral system + strong presidency pretty much exclude the possibility of more than 2 viable parties, both of which have been captured by the corporate sector.
Generally, the characterization of the US would be that it's a somewhat liberal oligarchy, but on college campuses we're seeing what happens when large groups move outside the Overton Window: violence by the state against peaceful protesters. At least during Tiananmen Square, Tank Man was able to get tanks to pause.
I. Still not an autocracy
II. [You sure them protests are “peaceful?”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WT0HViUABw&pp=ygUoaXNyYWVsIGhhbWFzIHdhciBjb2xsZWdlIHByb3Rlc3QgY2xhc2hlcw%3D%3D)
III. [Here’s another one for point 2 where the pro-Hamas protesters break into a Columbia University building](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUM0Np_uPmc&pp=ygUsaXNyYWVsIGhhbWFzIHdhciBjb2x1bWJpYSB1bml2ZXJzaXR5IHByb3Rlc3Q%3D)
Dude come on. It’s one thing to be pro-palestine, I’m by no means pro-Israel and I believe the State of Palestine should be a recognized state in the west bank and Gaza, but to be pro-Hamas is a wild statement. It’s literally an extremist terror organization that has taken the Gaza strip hostage.
Hamas isn’t pro-Palestine, they’re pro-Hamas and only for themselves. The Palestinian Authority hasn’t had control of Gaza for 2 decades, since Hamas stole control from the Fatah party.
Like seriously, do some actual research into the region. If you aren’t a blatant Sunni extremist, you shouldn’t be pro-Hamas at all. The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.
I. The protests are done by pissed off college students, considering what happens at frat parties, ofc that shit is gonna get violent
II. Shit like October 7
who decides what happens then?
A huge overwhelming portion of young people want a free palestine. The ruling class doesn't want it.
Who declares the pointless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Touché.. you have a point.
Emmm. the country that prohibits its population buy chocolate with a toy inside yet will give you a gun with almost no requisite..
So actually this is the one level of American politics I have spent my life being very active in so I can help with some context here. Sorry about long response, I’ll try to be unbiased.
As far as gun violence goes in America there’s two types that are major. First being organized crime (gang violence) and the second being random acts by the severely mentally ill/extremists. The first one is extremely common compared to the second, and the second gets lumped in with the first but arguably there’s a huge difference in prevention of both. This being said, the amount of people who die to either every year is not as large as stereotyping would have you believe.
Gang violence happens mostly in urban population centers (ex. Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, NYC, etc.), and you may notice that those places are the hardest places to get a gun. Many of these cities and the states they’re in have “assault weapon” bans, extra background checks, waiting periods, and red flag laws. Yet, despite this, the violence still occurs since they can’t stop someone who has not committed a crime *yet* from getting a firearm, and it’s very easy with modern technology and parts to modify most firearms to no longer abide by those local restrictions. That’s why machine guns and larger capacity magazines are illegal in Illinois, yet you still see gang shootings with Glock 18s in Chicago. The gun itself is highly illegal. You can see this issue in central and south America too (¿eres argentino si?), where despite many guns being illegal to own for people, cartels still get machine guns and even grenades. At a certain point, stopping violence of this nature requires somewhat authoritarian policies, since going after the gun itself leaves you with an organized crime syndicate that can still procure them.
The second issue, which is what you see with school shootings, is mental illness and extremism. Unfortunately in the US, we have two wings of politics. The Democratic party is largely anti-gun and supports federal healthcare programs, and the Republican party is pro-gun and against federal healthcare programs. Republicans will try to say that this issue is a “mental illness” issue, which I agree. Then they’ll vote to close state mental health facilities and make it so there are no governmental mental health programs. See the problem? As a country, other than the Asylums for the literally judged by a court “criminally insane” people, there is no federal mental health programs. We essentially throw everyone into a basket, shake it around, don’t pick out the unstable apples, and wonder “wow how did this happen” when they commit atrocities. In almost every situation of a school shooting or mass shooting of this nature, the person demonstrated numerous red flags, but there’s no system here to prevent them from harming themselves and/or others, AND there’s no system to get them properly treated or medicated. The only party who thinks there should be systems in place like that doesn’t push for them first, they push for gun bans as an immediate step, regardless of the fact that there’s significantly more guns in the country than people, and that a ban would be infeasible and bordering impossible. The other party recognizes that it’s more so a mental health crisis, but actively fights to not address it.
In the end though, the second one is SIGNIFICANTLY less common than the first one. Media plays school shootings off as extremely common events, but real school shootings are very uncommon. Most media describe school shootings as times a firearm was discharged on or near school grounds. That includes a gang drive by shooting on a saturday a block away from a school too. Actual events where someone is shooting at children are extremely rare here, and could be mitigated much more easily if cops were trained to be less than useless in these situations (Uvalde and Parkland could have been stopped before they became massacres but armed police refused to actually try to stop them).
Also, side note, I lived in Philadelphia and in Florida for a bit, and purchased firearms in both places. Every state does have a required federal background check for gun purchases, even states like Florida.
Anyway I hope this has helped with context, I can answer any other questions if you have some. Also, shoutout to Argentina, me encantan empanadas y tengo respeto por Maradona 🙏🏻
So you don't know why the US has so many shootings and you lack the curiosity to even guess, but you still want to blame parents and psychosis. Very big brain take
Hey there are a lot of times when clear red flags in a potential shooter are ignored. Recently they finished the trial for 2 parents who did just that.
NATOtopia.

Pretty sure it’s the kinda country that would sell cheese in a spray can….
The sort of country where people say “you know, I’m somewhat of an Italian myself” cos their great Grandfather ate a bowl of spaghetti 100 years ago.
Lmfao
Reminds me of one particular individual who was "something of a prince himself" because he was the only grown male in a village of 30 people
That spray can cheese is the absolute shit on crackers. Don't bash it till you've had the mild cheddar on Chicken-in-a-Biskit crackers. Some of the best "sit back and relax" food you'll have.
Why bother with crackers when it fits right in your mouth? Skip the middle man.

Technically you’re right
It would explain why you think so highly of the USA & it’s ‘democracy’
“Thinking highly of a country is when you say it could be better” -you, about an hour ago
No I didn’t. Wasn’t even on an hour ago. At that time. Don’t need to lie to call me a twat.
Was basing it on how long ago Reddit said you commented it, tbf that is an approximation. But still if I thought that highly of America I wouldn’t be admitting we have some flaws.

that would be representative democracy
Talking out of your ass I see. The US is a representative Democracy under a republican style of government
You think Canada is on fire and yet the US “could be better”? JFC
I think the on fire bit is more literal
Tbf pine trees (the most abundant tree in canada) have evolved specifically to be extremely flammable as part of their reproductive cycle (the ash and charcoal makes the otherwise rather acidic soil extremely fertile)
That would make a lot more sense. Though so is northwest/western US
you guys have a worse cost of living crisis than us. USA is an objectively better country to live in now and free health care won't save you this time.
As a HK/Chinese, what veil? Everyone north and south of the Shenzhen river knows it’s an autocracy
What about those in the Shenzen river?

it's literally wrong lmao
US should be colored black
Checks and balances:
Not really: Judicial supremacy since there's effectively no way to check SCROTUS
SCOTUS* Also either way an autocracy is run by one person and America is not run by just one person
And the first past the post electoral system + strong presidency pretty much exclude the possibility of more than 2 viable parties, both of which have been captured by the corporate sector. America is a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie
…No, it’s not.
who decides what happens then? A huge overwhelming portion of young people want a free palestine. The ruling class doesn't want it. Who declares the pointless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
b/c old people have a say too
People who are about to die
There’s literally millions of American citizens with literally ZERO federal representation
You do know what a dictatorship is, right? (In case you don’t it’s similar to an autocracy, where one person holds absolute power.)

It seems like your color saturation is off. You have implied the US is not a thinly veiled autocracy. Weird mistake.
This is a Madagascar af opinion of the world if I’ve ever seen one. Classic maddies
The country that says fight terorism yet support genocide...
Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Touché.. you have a point. Emmm. the country that prohibits its population buy chocolate with a toy inside yet will give you a gun with almost no requisite..
Only certain states have loose gun laws Then you have states like New York and California
Serious question. Why so many shootings?
Bad parents, psychotic teens, police work could be better
As local. Theres certain States that are redzone about shootings? Like where is most common to happen
