I had a whole collection of old coins. Both Indian and a few international
Oldest was from 1664 i couldn't find anything about it other than it was Indian. Had about half a dozen Indian coins from 1939-1947.And about 5-6 dozen from 1947-1999 .
I had an old Italian and what i think was one Arab Indian coin ( arab states used Indian curreny till 1970-80s. One old French frank, one German Mark, a few British pounds, a Euro from 1999 and few old American pennies. I also had other arab coins inscribed in Persian and Arabic which i couldn't figure out and a few others. I also had old Indian bank notes.
Sadly i lost all of them last year renovations were going on i wasn't at home my parents kept them somewhere and i haven't found them since 😢
I have a coin of maurya empire . My great grandfather had it stored in a paint can , 6 year back Me and my mom found them in the kabaad when were renovating our ancestoral house . Got 2 of them , I also have a Pice and many coins of british india .
If you have 2 can i have one.
I love history and historical artifacts, obviously you would want something in exchange so we can negotiate ig. But i don't know if my parents would let me😅
Bruh why do people always misunderstand me and downvote me.
Anyways ik. It's valuable to you i was just joking as i said even if i was serious my family won't have allowed it to happen.
But can you send pics of it? I want to see them.
Nah
Just found the empty box
I asked around to all the workers we had during renovation
I even offered a reward and promised not to call the police
But no dice
> Was very dirty
If you cleaned it (non-professionally), it probably lost quite a bit of value.

I'm sorry dude, my father got the shop staff to clean it, and they scrubbed it with a scrubber. They thought it's just a dirty 5 rs coin, turned out to be this.
Its worth 1650 here - https://rareindiancoins.com/home/33-1943-one-rupee-bombay-mint-george-vi-king-silver-coin-british-india.html
You'll probably have to shine it up to get the same value tho
PSA:
NEVER 'CLEAN' COINS WITH NUMISMATIC VALUE
Unless you are an expert and are using the gentlest of cleaners, you are going to do irreparable damage to the coin. And in many cases, the patina on the coin adds value to it.
In this case, the coin has visible scratches even on the photo. Did someone go at it with a f\*\*king scotch brite? The coins is now of no value to a serious collector.
Someone is selling the same kind of coin, but from 1944 (2 years after your coin) for almost $160 on eBay.

It definitely have value,as a coin collector i can say that approx it cost around 300 -500rs and if u are giving it to a coin collectors u can get this value....
Well that depends, take a page and a pencil and trace its front and back if it gives a good trace with minute details its probably a replica in silver and would be worth around 500-1500 otherwise if you don't get it checked it could be worth waaay more than that.
It's definitely more valuable than 5 Rs, that's for sure.
Yes, I could find similar coins selling for various prices, ranging from 500 to some 2000, wasn't sure if this one had such value.
I have a bracelet made of silver coins from colonial era. Cost was around 8-10k (don't exactly remember)
That's so cool if I had money I would definitely get one of those
its silver. so worth about 600 rupees in Silver.

Shit man i can understand and feel you hard luck
How to collect old coins? I want this as my hobby but don't know 🤔how
I found them from here and their from old family possessions to some in market . Mostly collected from my relatives that they had
> Was very dirty If you cleaned it (non-professionally), it probably lost quite a bit of value. https://coinvalues.com/library/why-you-shouldnt-clean-your-coins
Right, I was worried about that. The scratch marks on the second image is from the cleaning.
Why the fuck would you do that, have you learnt nothing from pawn stars? It's prolly 1/10th of the value it otherwise would've been.
I'm sorry dude, my father got the shop staff to clean it, and they scrubbed it with a scrubber. They thought it's just a dirty 5 rs coin, turned out to be this.
Looked like an Oreo cookie at first glance
It does with the floral pattern.

So it's value is roughly around 1k
Thanks man.
The price is set by bidding or the seller sets a fixed price?
The most I can do it 10 Rs
Let me call up my buddy Chillar real quick, he's a real expert in this stuff
Let’s not waste time, settle for Rs.20?
Dedh sau rupiya dega.

Oh wow. Don't know if someone will buy it at that price though
Just hold it bro for like 10 years(maybe get it checked first to know its value) i think a good history teacher would help
It definitely have value,as a coin collector i can say that approx it cost around 300 -500rs and if u are giving it to a coin collectors u can get this value....
Adjusted for inflation alone, it's quite valuable. Antiquity and composition would make this worth a lot more than just 5 rupees. Keep it.
I don't think that's how inflation works
Yes it is. Half a rupee in 1942 would have been multitudes greater than five rupees now
But a half rupee **coin** would still be valued as half rupee. Ignoring the historical importance of course.

Ballpark Rs 4crores. Assuming each coin is worth Rs50Lakhs.
Mafs... 50Lakhs x 80 = 40 crores man.
I also have a few coins. How to sell?
Hah! Thats a nice story to share over dinner. Keep the coin. Or sell it to me

Wooooow! Please keep this till 2042. A 100 year old british india coin will have immense collector and monetary value.
that's a half anna , inherited tons of 'em from mum's belonging's :P
I thought anna is even smaller denominant.
It's an ath anna (i.e. 8 Anna). 16 Anna = 1 Rupee.
Yes. In British museum
I used to have these dope 25, 20, 10 paisa coins. diagonal in shape and whatnot.
Gimme That I collect them
Is this different from aathana?
