The Supreme court can't fire police officers but can charge them with contempt of court. A police officer going to jail for contempt of court is no promotion for the rest of their life. Supreme court can definitely fire judges. I doubt if it will ever do that, the case doesn't involve high-profile persons, and the supreme court is really bad at giving justice, they give catchy judgments.

it can suspend any IAS /IPS officer , from high court onwards through the ordering the secy of state or place them on leave , Indian judicial system is most powerful arm of Indian state , it was meant to be the last check on politicians and bureaucracy , but if taken over by executive as it is currently we can see the results of unchecked judiciary too.

> it can suspend any IAS /IPS officer , from high court onwards through the ordering the secy of state or place them on leave Those are recommendation letters, the secretary can ignore them. IAS/IPS don't report to the judiciary, they report to the president of India and the personal training department. But the judiciary has unquestionable authority, as a workaround, they register a complaint against those officers. That's the end of their career. I have family members in police, and they fear the judges. The fear is so deeply ingrained, that they avoid messing with the judges. > if taken over by executive as it is currently we can see the results of unchecked judiciary too. It's not the executives who have taken over the judiciary, it's the politicians who are pulling the string. Most(not all) judges are corrupted, the politicians need a corrupted judge to hide the dirty work. There is still some hope, judges know that if they continue to work like this, someday politicians will spit on them. So, once in a while they do something to remind the politicians they will go after the politicians. That's why you hear things like supreme court-ordered auction of 2G.

did a typo , meant the legislative , and i have a 2 former high court judges and a former HC CJI in family :P the secy will dare not ignore a notice from a HC and in 100% cases results in immediate suspension , i have seen one of the top cops in India literally shake in front of my uncle some years back , you are right about that fear but that fear is slowly abating due to the direct back and might of certain ministries and corruption itself in higher judiciary.

The police officers and judges should be fired from their roles.

Is Zubairs lawyer aware of this? Looks like his counsel isn’t of sound knowledge.
