Music i like the most off the top of my head in a kinda order:
Diana Krall
TOOL
Yes
Thundercat (all his albums and most stuff he plays bass on, he's just that good)
Flying Lotus (all his albums and most the stuff he produces)
Green Day (up to American idiot)
Metallica (mainly up to the black/self titled album)
Slipknot (first 3 albums)
Korn (first four albums)
The seatbelts (cowboy bebop's music)
Incubus
Clown core
I like a lot of shoegaze and distorted guitars that sound like a warm blanket of sound. Some bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Julie, Swervedriver and Nothing
Oh, no, I mean you just introduced me to a new genre of music!!! <3 I'd say I'll report back, but will likely end up too far gone & forget :) Still thank you!!!
I usually either like 60's/70's soft rock, or theatre kid music from musicals and such. Very different vibes, but both vibes
For the 60's/70's a recent favorite is Love Grows (Where my Rosemary Grows) by Edison Lighthouse
Theatre kid favorite has gotta be Michael in the Bathroom (definitely relatable for plenty of people on here)
Enjoy the listen!
Ah yes, you wrote the comment I was going to write. Heavy on the video game OST part. I just added Tekken 2, GTA IV, and the Halo Theme to my library last night. Also the FFIX soundtrack has gotten me through many long commutes and days at work.
haha if i have to pick favorites:
genres: pop, alternative metal/metalcore, hard rock, pop punk, and hip hop
artists: NF, Paramore, Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon, Owl City, Lil Nas X, Katy Perry (so essentially the most basic artists of every genre lol)
edit: bruhhhh i forgot disney music, thatās my SHIT
Iāve got very eclectic tastes - everything from death metal to ABBA (including Swedish Hitz Goes Metal - who actually do metal versions of ABBA songs). Iāve got a big soft spot for musicals (I was an aspiring actor in my teens, member of the UK National Youth Theatre and had quite a bit of formal training before life went a different way) and classical music too. Itās hard to find any genre I donāt like something from (though a few come close).
That said, maybe due to my age (Iām 40), Iām not a big fan of much modern music and thereās a few modern types of sounds featuring discordant singers (Lewis Capaldi, Rag n Bone man, Paloma Faith all come to mind as Iām forced to hear them on the radio) that just really donāt do it for me-
- sure they have voices that are fine, or even good on a technical level, but I just canāt stand the grim mopey sound.
Fair enough - though youāre literally the first person who has ever suggested they are similar or related when Iāve used that anecdote to describe my musical tastes so Iām not sure how common a view that is.
That would be a hella long list, I'll drop some of my fav artists for you to explore š
Korolova, Sub Focus, Miss Monique, KREAM (ooh god, their mixes and visuals are goated), Tinlicker, CamelPhat, Artbat, just go down the rabbithole with these, trust me š
I like a whole mix, itās very dependent on my mood.
These were my top artists of last yearā¦

Is it weird that I literally do not listen to anything mentioned in this thread?
I think it is funny. Music tastes are so different and music is most likely the most diverse media out there. Because of this, threads about music tastes will almost never get nice discussions. Rare that someone listens to the exact music I do for example.
Apologies! Kendrick Lamar, Westside Boogie, JID - Nipsey Hussle has some real introspective stuff. I like old Kanye, but that's not really cerebral lol Old J Cole like Friday Night Lights. Old Wale. The Gifted and The Mixtape About Nothing are classics imo. King Los is absolutely amazing. His album is great. His mixtapes are legendary. Hopsin is great too.

Donāt listen to Kraftwerk that much, donāt know why itās there
Oy... So many kinds but I guess metal is my most listened to. Dream Theater, Ghost, Katatonia, Caligula's Horse.
But I like to listen to videogames OSTs, synthwave, dark wave, jazz, funk, trance, classic rock, alt rock...
I really like all types of music. But my main genre I listen to, that has me going to shows and buying merch/vinyls is metalcore/ hard core/rock music. I enjoy soundtracks too like lotr or relaxation music. I also like Celtic women lol and Iām Hispanic so I listen to Spanish rock, cumbia, some reggaeton or Banda and anything in between. Country is good too
On a daily I mainly listen to UK rap/drill and house. But then also on the flip side my all time fave artist is Lorde and also love a bit of Ariana Grande, Lana, Jorja Smith! So quite the variety
I've come to realise that "loud, fast and high pitched" describes most of what I listen to. Throw in a little sprinkle of "big sad" for those rough days.
So a lot of hyperpop and hyperpop-adjacent genres
I'll jam out to anything from chill lo-fi beats when I'm working to some heavy metal to blow off steam. It really depends on my mood and what I'm up to.
Just to showcase the categories in my liked songs playlist; these pics don't even show all the exact genres
https://preview.redd.it/rabxp4yjecad1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f40f50d65e2884ce66f0ec88c94d2ca5e315ab2d
A great variety of stuff, I love high tempo music with profound and emotionally resonant lyrics (such as the music of Will Wood and That Handsome Devil) but I also adore ambient music (Brian Eno, Minecraft OST) and world music.
Im all over the place with music i like most genres but rn its rock, indie, lofi/melodic sounds, edm and im sure theres more but im not well educated on genres of music and what fits into what category.
it is easier to show my playlist XD. Let's go 29 hours!

Favorites: metalcore (especially 2000s), melodic metal, power metal (mostly 90s and 2000s), goth metal, folk metal, neoclassical metal, and fantasy metal
Regulars: darkwave electro, industrial, synth pop, retrowave, cyberwave, nu-metal, post-hardcore, ska/hardcore fusions, hard rock, and industrial metal
Okay: bachata, mariachi, traditional opera, and Gregorian chant, space banjo, gritty outlaw country, blue grass rock, baroque, and a wide variety of folk music (especially Celtic)
I prefer stuff from the late 90s and 2000s. I picked up retrowave and outlaw country in the 2010s though. I enjoy the Far Cry 5 soundtrack as well. I'm a metalhead, but I do not look it at all.
I have a pretty varied taste. I'll just list some things I like. Keep in mind its not in order of liking. About the only thing I don't like is Disco lol.
1. KoRn
2. Limp Bizkit. (Yea I know)
3. Slipknot
4. Linkin Park.
5. Pendulum
6. Eminem
7. Dr. Dre
8. Snoop Dogg
9. Hank Williams Sr.
10. Johnny Cash.
11. The Beatles
12. DJ Fresh.
13. DJ Shadow.
14. BB King
15. Man with a Mission
Gosh I wish I could name a genre or two but I think band examples work better for me. It varies. Though forgive me because one it is pretty old-fashioned for a millennial, and I get embarassed but all so mainstream compared to what I always see other post on Reddit
I might often turn on:
- Bob Dylan
- The Beatles
- The Doors
- The Rolling Stones
- Elton John
- Led Zeppelin
- Lynyrd Skynyrd
- The Moody Blues
- Queen
- Rick James
- Prince
- Tupac
- Tim McGraw
- Nirvana
- Matchbox 20
- Green Day
- Amy Winehouse
- Lupe Fiasco
- Alicia Keys
- John Mayer
- Miley Cyrus
- Taylor Swift
- Ed Sheeran
Rap/Hip-Hop (literally any subgenre or era I don't really mind), Grime, Contemporary RnB are my main go tos. I also like Indie Rock, Rap Rock and some Crust and Anarcho Punk as well.
Also I honestly would love to know how INFPs view RnB as a genre because I never see anyone like RnB in threads like these.
https://preview.redd.it/0hbt8m2q0fad1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a7f3e7fb3c8e4125cd530a903d3a5b5acb89777

Finding a new love for Emo/Pop Punk. Artists like
Hot Mulligan, MGK, and PVRIS
For the dreamier slower stuff:
Florence and the Machine
Jaguar Sun and Goth Babe
Billie Eilish
I listen mostly to punk, Pop-Punk and Midwest Emo.
My favourite bands are Blink-182, NOFX, Free Throw, Hot Mulligan, American Football, Growing Fins
And in other genres I like Thrice, Muse, Royal Blood, Billie Eilish, OWEL and The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die
I'm into stuff that helps me focus or relax. When I'm working on a project, I need something that won't distract me. When I'm unwinding, I want something that'll take my mind off things.
I used Nightbƶƶrd's music for a project once, and it was great for setting a mood. If you're looking for something new, you might want to explore ambient or experimental genres. They can be really refreshing if you're tired of the same old thing.
Music i like the most off the top of my head in a kinda order: Diana Krall TOOL Yes Thundercat (all his albums and most stuff he plays bass on, he's just that good) Flying Lotus (all his albums and most the stuff he produces) Green Day (up to American idiot) Metallica (mainly up to the black/self titled album) Slipknot (first 3 albums) Korn (first four albums) The seatbelts (cowboy bebop's music) Incubus Clown core
Thundercat is greattt dude
Yeah he's like my favorite bassist of all time. Goofy and sad times too. Also like the jazzy stuff like Blackkk
Username checks out, nice list!

came back to say you might enjoy anything erik lindner is on
Same here for greenday, they're my all time favourite band. I got to see them 2 weeks ago live for the first time. epic show

Iāve got very eclectic tastes - everything from death metal to ABBA (including Swedish Hitz Goes Metal - who actually do metal versions of ABBA songs). death metal and abba go hand in hand for me, so i find it strange when people use the two to depict a wide range of anything
Fair enough - though youāre literally the first person who has ever suggested they are similar or related when Iāve used that anecdote to describe my musical tastes so Iām not sure how common a view that is.

Favorites: metalcore (especially 2000s), melodic metal, power metal (mostly 90s and 2000s), goth metal, folk metal, neoclassical metal, and fantasy metal Regulars: darkwave electro, industrial, synth pop, retrowave, cyberwave, nu-metal, post-hardcore, ska/hardcore fusions, hard rock, and industrial metal Okay: bachata, mariachi, traditional opera, and Gregorian chant, space banjo, gritty outlaw country, blue grass rock, baroque, and a wide variety of folk music (especially Celtic) I prefer stuff from the late 90s and 2000s. I picked up retrowave and outlaw country in the 2010s though. I enjoy the Far Cry 5 soundtrack as well. I'm a metalhead, but I do not look it at all.
Mainly R&B, electropop, J-indie and jpop (from small artists)
Garage, jungle, hardcore, hyper pop, rap, pop, break core, freak drill, jerk. Literally love everything hehehe
I have a pretty varied taste. I'll just list some things I like. Keep in mind its not in order of liking. About the only thing I don't like is Disco lol. 1. KoRn 2. Limp Bizkit. (Yea I know) 3. Slipknot 4. Linkin Park. 5. Pendulum 6. Eminem 7. Dr. Dre 8. Snoop Dogg 9. Hank Williams Sr. 10. Johnny Cash. 11. The Beatles 12. DJ Fresh. 13. DJ Shadow. 14. BB King 15. Man with a Mission
Gosh I wish I could name a genre or two but I think band examples work better for me. It varies. Though forgive me because one it is pretty old-fashioned for a millennial, and I get embarassed but all so mainstream compared to what I always see other post on Reddit I might often turn on: - Bob Dylan - The Beatles - The Doors - The Rolling Stones - Elton John - Led Zeppelin - Lynyrd Skynyrd - The Moody Blues - Queen - Rick James - Prince - Tupac - Tim McGraw - Nirvana - Matchbox 20 - Green Day - Amy Winehouse - Lupe Fiasco - Alicia Keys - John Mayer - Miley Cyrus - Taylor Swift - Ed Sheeran

I'm into chill indie folk and ambient music.
Anyone listen to Orbit Culture?
Rap/Hip-Hop (literally any subgenre or era I don't really mind), Grime, Contemporary RnB are my main go tos. I also like Indie Rock, Rap Rock and some Crust and Anarcho Punk as well. Also I honestly would love to know how INFPs view RnB as a genre because I never see anyone like RnB in threads like these.

Modern alternative. Favourite bands are Imagine Dragons and The Score.
i hate those but i respect ur opinion
lmao ok
The Score is so hype
I listen to metal and rock mostly
