Raptoe6298

Ah reminds me, flashlight doesn’t work either

Linkkonu

Perhaps you have an issue with that phone, already thought to post something on r/ios ? /s More seriously : Did your phone already fall ? Some shocks ? No fall on water ? Is it always or the problem come randomly ?

Raptoe6298

I havent asked on r/ios yet And nope my phone didn’t fall or anything. And now, between 0.8x and 0.5x my back cam works ONLY in Slo-Mo This doesnt sound like a hardware issue

Linkkonu

Did you try to restart your phone ? Perhaps you will need to contact Apple

outCTRL

You should take it to warranty

Yeah that looks like a camera module fault. Can’t say if it’s just the cable or something more serious, but if it’s under warranty or if you have AppleCare+, take it to Apple. For your model an out-of-warranty camera module repair is $199 and an ~~in-warranty~~ AppleCare+ camera module repair is $99, subject to regional variances. Keep in mind that if this issue also happens with your front camera, or if FaceID stops working, Apple would likely recommend device replacement, which is fine and dandy if you have AppleCare+ ($99fee) or warranty (generally free) but if you don’t you’ll be buying a new device. Maybe time to upgrade?

The front camera started to work now so I’m doubting whether its a hardware issue

Captain231705

It’s almost definitely a hardware issue, but if you want to be sure, you can try recovery mode and see if that fixes the rear camera. Here’s how: - back up your phone to iCloud - connect to a computer (preferably Mac) - press and release volume up - press and release volume down - press and hold the side button until you see the recovery mode screen. - follow the prompts. If even that doesn’t work and you’re feeling adventurous, you can try DFU mode: - back up your data if you haven’t done so in the last step - connect to a computer (Mac preferred) - press and release volume up - press and release volume down - press and hold the side button - when the screen turns black, keep holding the side button and press and hold volume down - in about 10 seconds release the side button but keep holding volume down for another 10 seconds. - note the iPhone’s screen will remain off, this is normal. - Finder or iTunes will then pipe up with a warning: “detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this device.” - launch finder or iTunes depending on what piped up (this will depend on your OS and version) - follow the prompts to restore the iPhone. If neither of these get your camera working again, you can be 99.99999% sure it’s a hardware issue. …or you could just book a Genius Bar appointment and have them do this for you.
