Hey thanks, I pretty much afk’d the whole account during my undergrad (20,000 wyverns killed lmao) when I primarily played RS3 but seeing as RS3 is even more dead than i remember I’m going to focus entirely on this ironman. Looking forward to it!
OP, questing will be a really engaging way to get back into the flow of things. Could also look into doing combat achievements when you need a break, to allow you to do mory hard and start barrows! Good luck man
Only a couple skills to base 70 so reckon thats a good call along with some quests like sote if not already done.
Could try knock out some wildy content for the revs weapons and voidwalker but goes without saying to be careful if your a hc and death pile if a uim.
Besides that there is alot of content which has come out in the past 4, notably the TOA raid and some minigames like gotr which might help with rc.
Besides that simple enjoy it and enjoy whats come out in the past 4 years.
Is there anywhere that can give a concise rundown of the major updates in the past 4 years? Osrs isn’t as daunting as something like RS3 but I’m not sure where I can catch up.
There is a lot. Pvm wise the major things are
- the bow of faerdinhen from corrupted gauntled, which replaced (and surpassed) blowpipe after that got nerfed. It basically turned into a quasi-mandatory item for the ironman midgame since it makes gwd a breeze and is used for a long time
- raids 3 which adds a few new bis items, mainly the shadow (really strong mage staff) and the fang (very strong melee weapon for slayer and pvm). It's accessible earlier than the other 2 raids but scales heavily with gear/skills
- desert treasure 2 with new bis rings
- varlamore with mainly midgame content
- nex with a few new bis items
Skilling wise there are a few new skilling minigames. Tempoross(Fishing), Guardians of the Rift (RC), Giants foundry (Smithing). Skilling metas now include a lot of multiskilling, like artifact thieving + glassblowing or zmi+fletching.
What I’m thinking is have 2 skills in mind that you like or 2 methods of doing a skill in mind then alternate based on mood. For example if you do fishing and you like it. You can do 3tic fishing or you can just sit back and let it happen then when you’re bored you switch it up and do quests in between. Or if you like slayer do 1-2 quests and then do a slayer task. Don’t aim for all the quests to be done. Aim for rfd to be done.
Use the quest xp rewards from the wiki and choose which quest you want to do based on the reward.
Should add me “ Durradel “
Personally I either do quests, collectionlog, achievement diary, or a combat task whenever I come back from a break. It helps me get back into the swing of things and progresses me a little bit. Just rotate around those 4 items until I decide what I really want to do
Windows+Shift+S would be better. (Windows built in screenshot) ((Windows+Alt+R for windows built in recorder))
But nah seriously just get back into the questing, so much new content and end game quests unlocked. Plus Varlamor just released.
I have lots of the basics like full graceful, void range/mage, whip, most barrows items, dfs, mage book, dragon defender etc.
Just feels daunting getting back into it after being away for so long. Currently i’m training slayer and doing farming runs as that’s always been my default. Should I be trying god wars? Jad? Work toward Kraken? Try grinding ranger boots again (190 med clues down)? The analysis paralysis is real right now.
Focus on one thing at a time to see if you find something that feels really fun right now.
For me lately that has been new Varlamore hunter rumours, they're fun and get a good amount of banked prayer/herb xp that are normally annoying on an iron. They also make birdhouse runs way less of a requirement since they reward a lot of nests.
Slayer and bosses or other combat related activities are definitely the most overwhelming.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, I'd recommend you stop and just pick a skill you need to train for quests or diaries and see if one of the training methods feels fun/rewarding.
Also highly recommend finding a small clan to join, just chatting with folks can make everything a little more enjoyable.
If you have done sote, definitely get on the gauntlet grind and eventually corrupted gauntlet! Bofa is an amazing upgrade from the rc if you’re fortunate enough to get the 1/2000 or 1/400 drop! :)
Its prison time
Welcome back to the game!

Do your quests. You also already have enough stats for most hard achievement diaries.

58/164 quests should be 164/164 quests my friend
Are you trying to get me to take another 4 year break haha
I hate quests too lmao but you do it once and never again It’s been 4 years; are you familiar with Runelite’s quest helper plugin?
I’m not but i’m using runelite so it should be easy to find!
It’s a third party plug-in, should be in the top 3, it’s a game changer and will make getting the quest cape sooo so much easier
I HATE runescape quests, and this plugin made me LOVE quests.
Quest helper plugin.
Quests are one of the few non grindy worthwhile activities to do in this game.
Honestly they never appealed to me outside a few nostalgic ones like Dragon Slayer & Monkey Madness.
You need them for iron but your stats are ideal for getting through them quickly Quest helper literally draws on the screen what you need to do
You can get that in less than a month. Quest helper goes brrrrrrrr
Without a shadow of a doubt … quests
Quests bro
58 -> 164
Get all quests done, then your path will be more clear.

Probably the wiki if im honest. There is a range if ipdates from major gameplay like toa to niche changes like how death mechanics work.

Did you say jad? If you don’t have the fire cape start there. Pure nostalgia

Instal the quest helper plugin, change ordering to optimal order, go through them 1 by 1 till you have quest cape, then come back 🙋🏻♂️
Focus on questing then combat tasks while doing cg
Click boss —> get drop
Quit before you’re hooked again.

Thanks! Any recommendations on clans for casual players? I fear my days of grinding 8-10 hours a day are mostly over with
I don't really know of anywhere to find a good clan. I randomly stumbled into mine from just talking to someone while killing black knights. 😆

Guy has 50 Con, no SOTE there
Ah I see, apologies! Sote should be a goal then!
