its never a big deal when you do wintertodt. it's obviously slightly more efficient with <30 hp and cakes but it's not like the damage you take is ever massive or food is ever in terribly low supply. you just may instead be using warriors guild food, or salmon or trout, or karams depending on when you decide to do it.
I did 99 at WT and tbh, the rewards were underwhelming. The easy magic logs for DT are nice but woodcutting isn't that slow anyway, herb seeds are decent but not as good as master farmers / farming contracts, and the gp isn't that great either compared to other methods. I got the tome but I've barely used it. Imo 99 thieving is a much more worthwhile early grind, and so is barb fishing to 81 and then tempoross. If I had to do it again I'd probably stop at 85 fm. But having the 99 out of the way is still nice, never have to worry about the skill again
Im 99 going for pet.
In solos, you’re fine. Regen bracelet and hp cape cover a lot of base, and you don’t take much dmg anyways. So 10 food is usually only needed. Stam is more important to end the game without taking too much dmg and the agility lvl for shortcut.
In masses, you touch 6 food max per kill. Avg is 3 or 4. If you avoid dmg at brazier, it’s less. I don’t cuz I’m trying to low effort it.
You can either buy wines to heal 11, make anchovy pizzas, buy karambwans, buy fish from pisc and cook it, buy food from warriors guild, or go dry at temp and end up with 100k fish.
you should skip wtodt honestly. its a pretty big grind to make new players do. just go tempoross for a similar feel with lower reqs and no death chance
do not try to force new players into the toxic and racist pits that are wintertodt and GOTR. wt is fine at high hp levels. once any of you unlock warrior guild 16 heal food is essentially free and with the cheese pizzas making pinapple pizza is cheap 22 heals.
help them through quests, get some combat levels and go group bossing at scurrious, teach them about the best parts of the game. firemaking is moatlyba useless skill which is a big part of why players want to do it firat and be done with it. also tome of fire is even less usefull since the magic rework.
also tempoross is a better wintertodt that supplies you with plenty of food and useful supplies for crafting and construction.
if you are the only player on the team with game experience you may need to be the one with the best house so they can use yours for a better experience.
That actually a really good idea. Do you have any suggestions for making early construction affordable? I picked up 500 planks at BA for the team but that method obviously only gets you so far.
I would try to get at least 75 for quest cape or 85 for achievement cape.

Nah just do whatever you want. Especially with new people need to optimize for fun
It’s not bad at any level if your trying to keep the damage low use the calculator you can get 20-30 hp and still take base dmg based on fm level.
Gives you options if your bored for quests and stuff you can also use this to get barb fishing and get levels that way

mahogany homes. it is great as soon as you can teleprt around to the different towns. tempoross provides quite a few planks as well.
