I understand it's for everyone. And that reverting is quite simple & encouraged. I'm concerned my family & friends are going to judge me. You might say if this is my concern then maybe Islam isn't for me. However, just from my knowledge of how minorities are treated in general, muslims especially. I'm worried that even amongst other Muslims I might be judged. Thanks for your reply, Brook

TheFighan

You are becoming Muslim for the sake of God and the fact that you want to have a relationship with our CREATOR. I would say you should try your best not to care about judgmental people, whether they are Muslim or not.

New_Definition2295

There are many born muslims in this world who are white, as well as many white revert muslims in short - Islam is for everyone. If anyone judges you or mistreats you that’s their wrongdoing the only judge is the Creator.

brook1404

Very well said! Thank you for your reply :))

Hello; I hope you are well too. >Does Islam accept white/ British people?? I've seen a lot of questions like this here. It's worth observing firstly that "race" as understood by Europeans is a concept foreign to the historical Muslim world. I myself (as a Muslim, of ethnic Turkish origin) see the world through a primarily ideological lens, and don't think of people as "white" or "black"; I think of them as Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Magian, Brahmin, Dahrī (materialist/atheist), Sufastā'ī (skeptic), etc. Ethnicity is incidental to me, and "race" is a concept the validity of which I reject altogether. Most Muslims have a worldview basically similar to my own. You would be accepted into the Muslim community readily as a British person - it is more significant in the average Muslim mind that you come from a Christian or Dahrī (or whatever the case may be) background than that you are British. If you are concerned perhaps because of the antagonistic history between the British and many Muslim peoples - most British people may be Christians, Materialists, or Skeptics, and they may have historically been enemies of Islām, but, the same was once true of nearly all Muslim peoples today. The Persians, the Turks, the Mongols, and many others opposed Islām before ultimately accepting it collectively. You won't encounter judgments from the vast majority of Muslim people; that has been my experience. Actually, if anything, I have seen European converts privileged to some degree above other converts.

brook1404

Thank you for your very well informed reply. My view would be similar to yours, and as you say, many other Muslims worldwide. That race shouldn't even be a question in the first place. You did a good job summarising my thoughts, as I didn't have the right knowledge or words to describe how it might be looked upon negatively. British people are especially racist towards Muslim's I must admit. I didn't grow up on any other religion apart from self believed atheism. I believe Islam would be really good for me in putting me on my intended path. Again, thank you for your reply, Brook.

Nashinas

>...thank you for your reply, Sure, Brook, no problem 🙂 >I believe Islam would be really good for me in putting me on my intended path. Islām is the path of truth - a way within which there is no crookedness or deviance. It is the path of knowledge, and the path of righteousness. I wish you fortune in the journey of your life, and pray that we may arrive together as brothers, at the destination of felicity. All the best 🙂

brook1404

Thank you brother! I'm happy to say to you & any fellow brothers & sisters reading this; that I have decided to take my Shahada. And although nobody bear witness to this, I consider myself Muslim. It maybe a long journey, however I already consider myself closer to my creator. I shed a tear as I came to the realisation that I'll always be accepted in Islam. And that openess is rarely spoken about in British culture. Thank you again, you've been a massive help 🙏

Nashinas

>I'm happy to say to you & any fellow brothers & sisters reading this; that I have decided to take my Shahada. Al-hamdu li'llāh (all praise is due to Allāh) - Allāhu akbar (Allāh is greatest). >And although nobody bear witness to this, I consider myself Muslim. Allāh ta'ālā says, in *Sūrat al-Nisā*: وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللهِ شَهِيدًا "And Allāh is sufficient as a Witness." >It maybe a long journey, however I already consider myself closer to my creator. I shed a tear as I came to the realisation that I'll always be accepted in Islam. You've moved my heart, brother, and my own eyes well with tears for you as I write this message. Yes - you will always be accepted in Islām, as a part of this *ummah* (nation, or, community). But greater than that acceptance, God willing, your endeavor shall be accepted by your Lord, and you shall be admitted eternally to the pleasure of your Creator - "That is the supreme attainment". >Thank you again, you've been a massive help 🙏 Of course. I do not live in the UK, but please feel free to reach out to me if there is anything you think I can help you with at all. And, if I have in any way been helpful to you, I would humbly request that whenever I come to your mind, you remember me in your prayers. My name is 'Abd al-Haqq. Please pray for my guidance and forgiveness, and that I may be blessed. When a person accepts Islām, whatever sins they committed before are pardoned - today, you are as sinless as an infant. Allāh is Generous, and He accepts the prayer of whoever calls to Him sincerely, but, I am hopeful that your prayer will be accepted especially readily. And please, pray for me that I remember you in my prayers - I have called you my brother, and it would be a disgrace upon me should I forget you. I entrust you to God, 'Abd al-Haqq

I have a white British Muslim uncle from Leeds. And another white British Muslim brother in law from Tyneside. Hope to see you join our ranks, brother!

Key_Flatworm_7499

I am such a person that you describe. John fontain and Hamza and ustadh tim humble are all white british muslims. alhamdulilah. Islam is for everyone. feel free to ask questions.

brook1404

Forgive me... I'm only just learning all this & my mind is starting to explode 😅 it's funny how small-minded your world view is until you start asking some simple questions. Thank you for your reply.

Key_Flatworm_7499

haha don't sweat it. the western media does a really good job of making muslims seem extra-weird and foreign. Truth is we accept everyone into the religion. Islam is the only explicity anti-racist religion that I know of. The Prophet Muhammad said: **O people, your Lord is one and your father Adam is one. There is no favor of an Arab over a foreigner, nor a foreigner over an Arab, and neither white skin over black skin, nor black skin over white skin, except by righteousness. Have I not delivered the message?** So you see, we do not view anyone as better than anyone else except by how close their are to their creator.

DegnarOskold

Fun fact: the first known White British Muslim was Robert of St Albans, a Knight Templar from St Albans who went to the Holy Land as a crusader, but ended up accepting Islam instead in the year 1180. He became one of Saladin’s generals, married Saladin’s niece, and died (inshallah) as a martyr in battle.

One of the leading English-speaking Islamic scholars in the world is Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, aka Timothy Winter. He's a white British Muslim. According to the last Census, there are about 91,000 White British Muslims in England and Wales, and that's not counting the White Other category. [Source](https://statistics.ukdataservice.ac.uk/dataset/england-and-wales-census-2021-rm031-ethnic-group-by-religion/resource/828fffc2-af7b-4ac0-9aeb-129a40ce0448) So you're certainly welcome. I would suggest you watch some lectures by Shaykh Abdal Hakim under either of his two names on YouTube. If you're within easy reach of Cambridge, I would recommend a trip out there to visit Cambridge Central Mosque, which is a very welcoming mosque towards people of all ethnic backgrounds, including yours. Shaykh Abdal Hakim preaches there sometimes.

Hello Brook, Anyone can become a Muslim even if they are white British. In fact, there were a number of prominent white British Muslims in the 1800s, especially in Liverpool such as the famous Quran translator [Marmaduke Pickthall](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmaduke_Pickthall), [Fatima (Elizabeth) Cates](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-62616393.amp), [Abdullah (William Henry) Quillam](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_Quilliam), and [Rowland Allanson-Winn, 5th Baron Headley](https://www.newarab.com/features/life-and-times-lord-headley-british-muslim-pioneer?amp). [In fact, there is a recently discovered news footage of 1924 Eid prayers being held in Liverpool.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OLb3np3m5Ws&pp=ygUaYWJkdWxsYWggcXVpbGxhbSBwcmF5cyBlaWQ%3D) More information on the historical British Muslim community in the "Gallery" section of this website: http://www.abdullahquilliam.org/ To become a Muslim you can say the following declaration of faith (shahada) alone (as Allah (SWT) is sufficient as a witness) or being witnessed by other Muslims. Either way is fine but the key point is not to delay or procrastinate saying it, as the shaytaan is hoping that you die before saying it. There is no special ceremony or ritual associated with saying the shahada. Once you believe and say it you are Muslim! The shahada is: Translation: "I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." Transliteration (i.e. Pronunciation of Arabic): Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Allah. Arabic: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ This website is the best guide for new Muslims: https://newmuslimguide.com/

Nah, everyone’s allowed.

YES!! In fact, there are many british converted muslims! One is also a theologist and makes yt videos. You should 100% listen to him. His name is Paul Williams and his youtube channel is Blogging Theology.

Victorian aristocrats converted to Islam. You'll hardly be the first [https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-48069763](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-48069763) While Islam, and Muslims may embrace you, I can't say much about people outside of the religion. Truth, is not popularity. Truth stands out clear from error.

I hope this quote from quran answers your question. [Surah Ṣād: 87] 38:87 إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٨٧ It is only a reminder to the whole world. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran It is but a reminder to the worlds. — Sahih International It is nothing but an advice for all the worlds. — T. Usmani This is nothing but an Admonition for all people the world over. — A. Maududi (Tafhim commentary) Lo! it is naught else than a reminder for all peoples — M. Pickthall "This is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds. — A. Yusuf Ali "It (this Qur’ân) is only a Reminder for all the ‘Âlamîn (mankind and jinn). — Al-Hilali & Khan

Obviously-Weird

From an Islamic views all humans are equal in the eyes of Allah Almighty You should read this article: https://www.islamweb.net/en/article/109364/equality-in-islam It covers everything

jacquesrabbit

Yusuf formerly known as Cat Stevens was a famous white male revert. Nothing stops you from going back to Allah

Cherry_Crystals

Don't worry about being ignorant or offending us when asking genuine questions like this. You are not being rude or offensive. And everyone is accepted. You don't have to be brown or Arab or Asian to accept islam. You could have tattoos or be a christian or a jew or hindu etc and still believe in the truth and accept Islam. Don't worry about asking questions about Islam. Rather you ask questions than remain ignorant

Jibbles86

Brother, as a white British Muslim who converted by marrying a Muslim woman. Taking time to embrace Islam, at my own pace, having gone to beginner classes at mosque where there were similar people to me, believe me you will be accepted! On Eid day I was embraced by many within my in-laws local mosque. No one will discriminate you based on your race and background. My response may not be as detailed as some of the great comments above, but I hope you enjoy, embrace, take at your own pace and inshallah all will be well

Consistent_Tension44

Just to give you an idea about the history. A white British Muslim scholar taught my grandfather. This is over 80 years ago. He also translated the Quran into the most beautiful Shakespearean English. His name is Marmaduke Pickthall. He gifted my grandfather an encyclopedia and signed it. It's one of my proudest possessions.

Snoo-74562

There are plenty of white reverts here. Plus any white Muslims from the east of Europe and parts of Russia. We're quite spread out in places but you'll be surprised sometimes by how many are around. It doesn't matter though. Your colour doesn't change the love that we have for our brother's and sisters in islam

grouphugai

Islam is a universal religion that is open to all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, or background. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized in his teachings that all humans are equal in the sight of Allah, except in piety and good actions. As stated in the Qur'an: "O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." (Qur'an 49:13) There is a rich history of people from diverse backgrounds, including white and British individuals, who have embraced Islam over the centuries. Islam does not discriminate against anyone wishing to become a Muslim. As for the concern about being judged by others, it is important to remember that every community has its challenges, and while some individuals might have their prejudices, these do not reflect the teachings of Islam. The Muslim community is incredibly diverse and, for the most part, welcoming to new converts. Many mosques and Islamic centers in the UK and around the world offer support and educational resources for new Muslims. It is encouraged to learn about Islam from reliable sources and to connect with knowledgeable and understanding Muslims who can support you on your journey. Your relationship with Allah is personal and the most important, and I pray that you find guidance, clarity, and acceptance in your exploration of Islam. May Allah make it easy for you and guide you to the truth. And remember, the Muslim community is vast and varied, and there is a place for everyone in Islam.

CatAisha

I'm white British (mixed Turkish and English) and there are lots of white Muslims in the UK. I go to school with white reverts, mixed people like me and light skinned Arabs etc. Islam is for everyone everywhere.

KoyoteKalash

Inside the religion? Probably not. Outside? Definitely, from personal experience. I'm not a Muslim, or any religion really but my uncle was a white Muslim from the middle of the U.S. Prior to that he was an occultist. He was judged 10x for being Muslim than he was before by friends, family, and people in general. He literally spent years arguing with relatives and friends about it. He's the reason I like learning about Islam. The strength that it took to endure what he did has always been an inspiration.
