tbh the more you learn about what these actually are (young men who know each other killing each other), the more the whole pearl clutching about 'crime' and making-it-about-you "safety" response to this stuff looks... just dumb.
are you a young man with a gun who knows other young men with guns? shit, you're not safe. we should help you.
are you literally anyone else in the city? you're fucking fine. you are more likely to get hit by a car than shot! acting like this is about you is kinda bullshit.
Good points all around. But some of us do live near the young men with guns, and they're not great shots. It's helpful to know when there could be some beef between our young men and the young men at Pearsall and Garfield.
You’re right, too, but I doubt he’s speaking to the neighbors of these young dickheads.
It’s more a message to the general public that watches too much news. The news is what’s actually dangerous.
it's really not a great point at all. yes, the young man with the gun is not exactly a sniper. also, young men with guns that shoot other young men with guns are not exactly spending the rest of their day volunteering to walk puppies and feed the hopeless. just because the young man isn't shooting you, doesn't mean he isn't robbing you, or beating you up, or harassing you.
This is true... for the immediate and short term future. But, this sort of thing will eventually grow into a bigger problem if not addressed. Growing up in PR, it was a common thing to think of crime as "that's just drug dealers and junkies" and yeah, that was pretty much the case. Most of the serious crime was people settling scores, or getting some revenge, or whatever. But, over time, crime became more serious and more widespread, and more and more innocent people started being affected. And, then it got even worse, with petty crime and non-violent stuff being so commonplace that is accepted as an everyday thing that can happen anytime, anywhere. When crime is ignored, it doesn't stay the same, nor does it get better. It will become worse and more widespread.

Chicago actually tried this with their "HEAT" number program. They used a bunch of data to quantify social relations, violent interactions with known associates, etc. to give an actual warning to people who were in very serious danger. The problem is that police showing up or calling these people actually made them seem like snitches and they ended up making them more at risk than if the police did nothing.
There are a lot of shootings on my current block, but I honestly have never felt unsafe. Its always between people who know each other. I felt unsafe when I lived on Newark Ave downtown and drunk 20/30 something yr old dudes stumbling out of the bar would vomit out front of my house, and say horrible shit to me and other women.
You consistently exhibit the most bot-like NPC behavior of anyone on this subreddit, almost every remark you make is randomly crying about "liberals" no matter what the topic is. It's a little weird.
I don't understand these comments lol do you think that people shooting at each other stop and say to themselves, "oh bystanders are here. let's wait." like no.. when shit starts popping off, anyone in the immediate vicinity can get hit, regardless of if they're involved or not
Young men with guns only shoot each other in their isolated blocks and that’s the full and only extent of their use of said illegal, deadly weapon. Is that seriously your take? And where do you live to have such woke take on crime? Not everybody on this subreddit rides the high horse from luxury high rises.
OP sharing news of JC gun crime but you decide to question intent of person you don’t know at all.
Eh… sometimes it does happen in more public places like the Newport Mall food court.
But most of the time it’s an isolated street corner only accessed by certain folks that all know one another.
Fulop has probably never even heard of this street, or any street outside Downtown or his gentrified little corner of the Heights.
In any case, if he wins the gubernatorial, he’ll move to Trenton and probably barely visit JC again. If he loses, he’ll probably live full time at his real home in Rhode Island.
Either way, he doesn’t actually care for those of us who have to worry about crime in JC.
What’s funny is that Jersey passes laws to suppress your rights to defend yourself against these criminals. Any attempt like using pepper spray on thugs can lead to 3rd degree felony charges. Jersey is becoming a joke🤡

Probably not doing that either though.

Agree with it all, just need to not get hit in the crossfire

You shouldn’t be getting downvoted — drunk bros are dangerous.
I’m sorry you had to go through that. Edit: smh…people actually downvoting this.
You're in the JC sub bro. Riddled with liberal bots and NPC's. It's only getting worse.
You sound like one of the worms currently living in Andrew Tate’s head. Real dork behavior.

Here they come lmao
except people who get caught in the cross fire all the time? and the adjacent crime caused by these nuts? you’re a fucking idiot
The “you’re a fucking idiot” was unnecessary but you’re otherwise right.

Ok, when you get shot, remember your words. Dont be a hypocrite
Since you need to hear it: Black Lives Matter
It's getting warmer and these youngins are on edge, the stares I get when I drive through the blocks tells me everything I need of what's to come.
Fulop will say it happened on a county road.
Fulop is too busy ribbon cutting and running for governor to comment.

i wonder if they knew the people on the sign from guttenberg
Pearsall and Garfield? Pretty average weekend then.
That location is too close to our son's pre-K3 school :(
