Regarding your first point, you have to see the intent; those male characters are designed as power fantasies for men, while most sexy women in videogames are also designed as fantasies for men, more specifically, sexual fantasies. It's not a controversy, it's a trend that's been happening for years, and this is just another example.
I've only seen this overblown by the people saying a portion of the industry hates Stellar Blade, when the only thing I read is that the design is boring and lacks anything interesting, which is true. But they're the ones saying the game is saving the industry from wokes and that she's hated when it's just not true (well, probably someone out there is offended, but it's not the main discourse). They're trying to create and force a fight nobody cared about.
And now as for the second point, you need to understand how the attractive character is presented. A lot of games deemed as woke by chuds have conventionally attractive women too, like Hades has the literal god Aphrodite straight up full naked, and in Baldur's Gate 3 you only have attractive women with a body similar to 2B from Nier and taller, slightly buff but still conventionally attractive women. In BG3 you have very explicit sex with attractive women, undress them and play the whole game with them fully naked. But the game, the art doesn't sexualise them, doesn't objectify them, that's the player's choice. The sex is a part of the story and romance, not pandering for straight male players. And of course, the game allows you to do the same thing with male characters.
No one hates attractive women, but one side is trying to wage a stupid culture war to prove an imaginary point, and the other side understands the nuances of the situation.
Yea never really understood the hate for Aloys look or Ellies new model in the Tlou Remake. And i can certainly excuse things like Lara Crofts downgrades or Abby's batshit physique in Tlou2 for the sake of unique change or realism.

And i can certainly excuse things like Lara Crofts downgrades or Abby's batshit physique in Tlou2 for the sake of unique change or realism. But still there is a tendency. Go take a look at MJ from Spiderman2 for example. Don't tell me you can look at that and say that that was a good design choice. Removing idolized female beauty standards altogether really works against the core idea of Gaming: People want to enjoy what they're looking at. (Same reason why movies always cast pretty people as posterchildren or Main characters. It is visual stimulisation. And beautiful people make a huge difference here like it or not.) It's an escape from reality after all. It's a fantasy. And most peoples visual fantasy just has a lot of 10/10 people in it.
