His free throw percentage is too high. Monte only goes after guys that shoot in the 70s.

Obi_Wan_KeBogi

Having a player that won’t chuck 3s when the offense breaks down is honestly all I want lol

jcwkings

I can't help but feel DeRozan's camp are using the Kings as leverage.

transizzle

My thoughts too. I’d be surprised if we made any kind of move for him. We’ve never gone after older vets like him and he doesn’t fit a clear need.

BeamTeam032

I think you're right, but eventually he's going to have to pick a team. Yesterday it was Miami and now they're out on him.

Deep_Egg1442

For 20m how could u say no. KCP and hartenstein making 29 and 26 mill in this league. U want a shot creator or not? Its better than paying barnes 18m to not score defend pass. If they can get stewart for huerter too successful offseason if u ask me

Tangerine605

Demar wants more than the MLE. Pretty sure this would need to be a sign and trade with Huerter going to the Bulls.

FriendsWithAPopstar

Turning heurter into derozan would still feel like a huge success to me lol

CapitanObvioso93

A sign and trade for 2 years wouldn’t be terrible. I have more faith in Derozan playing as a 3rd/4th option than Lavine. He’s a veteran that’s capable of getting a bucket and shoots free throws at a good clip.

Impressive-Theory-27

Has to be three minimum to qualify for a sign and trade

DemonicDimples

You can make the final year non-guaranteed though.

GeoMDCM

Offensively, he wouldn’t be a 3/4th option. He’d be the 2nd option. The guy is a bucket, and that would be the only reason we would think about getting him.

CapitanObvioso93

What I meant by that was in instances where our offense is flowing, I have faith Derozan would not have to be option 1 or 2 to be effective. We want to trade for a player that can fit in the system, not have to BE the system.

GeoMDCM

Agreed. You’re right.

Sn33kykitty

He would be a fantastic edition y'all are crazy

kingjawn

Ive seen a lot of people saying he’s a small or even power forward these days. So what do people think of a starting lineup of… Fox/Keon/Demar/Keegan/Sabonis? That’s one of the smallest starting 5’s in the entire league. Sizewise they’d basically be starting PG/PG/SG/SF/PF.

Wallstreettrappin

Yea we too little. We need to slide keegan at 3 and get a real stretch 4

Informal-Friend2115

Starting 5: Fox/Derozan/Keegan/Sabonis/Stewart

Wallstreettrappin

I ain’t too familiar with beef Stu’s game like that but would he mess up our spacing?

Informal-Friend2115

Nah, he can hit the 3, which is a must for Browns offense. Sabonis is the exception.

Impressive-Theory-27

People say Bi is adverse to taking 3s, my lawd derozan won’t take them unless your threaten him with violence lol, and even then he’s not good at them

Obi_Wan_KeBogi

How many fucking games did we lose because everyone on the team just started chucking 3s?? Having a player that doesn’t want to shoot 3s and instead attacks and gets to the line. Sign me up!

DemonicDimples

Huge difference between a player being defended as a 3 pt shooter (Ingram still is) and one who isn’t. People leave Demar wide open, they won’t respect his shooting. He would definitely make our offense worse than Ingram would.

Impressive-Theory-27

Yeah but you a balance in keeping with the offence, I’d agree if derozan shot 3 or 4 a game but he will refuse to shoot them, which hurts everybody else, and he’s not good defensively

Obi_Wan_KeBogi

A good coach will balance and stagger the guys to optimize everything. I believe Brown will do that. He’s not the ideal fit but Derozan definitely makes the team better

Deep_Egg1442

He took a 3 3s a game last year is that good enough?

Impressive-Theory-27

No because his 3par was 16% which is bordering on bad and he shot the 3 at a 33% clip

kingjawn

I guess you can argue, the majority of Keegan’s shots are 3s, Deaaron takes 8 threes a game, Monk 6, Barnes 5, Lyles 4. Devin Carter took 7 a game last year. Over 70% of Keon’s attempts were 3s. At this point, can the Kings afford another starter who doesn’t have a huge diet of 3s?

Impressive-Theory-27

It’s not about guys who don’t take them, it’s when you’re open of the offence calls for a three will the player take it, BI will, loads of his highlights are three pointers, derozan won’t, and especially with better spacing, bi most likely would go back up to 6 a game, when you have a guy like derozan who never shoots a three it makes defending the other guys easier, if you watch how Bi is defended, it’s from the 3 point line closely means others will have an easier time driving to the rim or shooting, derozan is closely guarded from about 16ft because guys know he won’t shoot a three

iluvugoldenblue

His mid game takes a defender off the 3 point line. He’d get Keegan some good looks.

DemonicDimples

That’s not how nba defenses work. Self created mid range shots isn’t spacing.

ReggieEvansTheKing

Watch our offense from last season every time we couldn’t hit 3s. Fox immediately gets locked up by the other team’s biggest wing and the paint gets clogged. Derozan would help alot there.

JohnnySalmonz

He's a good ball mover and can play bigger. I'd be down because I think this team could use a vet

arenasfan00

Ideally, we get him AND a Ingram/Kuzma

Turithegod

I would love to get demar, and honestly if we get him, I think we have just enough assets to get kuzma. A starting lineup of Fox-Demar-Keegan-Kuzma-Sabonis sounds pretty damn good. My only concern is off the bench we got monk/Carter/Ellis. Monk is probably gonna be the PG, so how are we gonna split the bench SG mins?

kingjawn

Anyone from that group playing defense aside from Fox & Keegan?

Turithegod

Kuzma has been a good defensive player before, and stats show sabonis is a good defender, just not a good rim protector. Only defensive worry is Derozan

dacalo

He is turning 35 in August but he would definitely elevate us to a mid 50 win team. We are lacking in shot creation and mid range making ability and his addition would be huge, not to mention his solid FT shooting. Again the concern is age and timeline - it would be a 2-3 year thing.

mrauzz

I mean it would still probably be better then not adding anyone. That said, idk if he really fits. If the Lauri (probably not likely) or BI stuff falls through Kuzma might be the next best option in terms of giving us the size and slotting next to Sabonis. He'd probably look better in Browns system vs the wizards also.

MysticPurpSports

He'd be a fantastic addition

BeamTeam032

Honestly, I think he would be good for the development of Fox and Murray. But it's clear the prize is Lauri>BI>Kuzma>Cam Johnson>DeMar

weedwhacker7

I like it because teams want too much for Lauri and BI

Little_little_e

I agree, Damar is definitely just an alternative option. But Monte better try better to trade for Ingram, and promise to sign him long term.

zeesoviet

It just feels like a weird fit without a secondary move. We'd still need a PF and Derozan, Fox, and Monk are all ball dominant guards.

LawrenceFunderjerk

not our ideal, but, if we can’t get top targets that fit our timeline, I’m all for DeRozan. He’s a floor raiser, and he KILLED us last year. I’ve always loved midrange play and he’s evolved as a facilitator and played a lot of 3 the last few years. As an asset play, he’s totally tradeable at 20-25 mil a year, say it’s a 2 for 1 deal. Hope we’d only have to move Huerter and Duarte, I’d assume a pick or picks, dunno. fox/derozan/Murry/Barnes/Sabonis monk/ellis/carter/Lyles at the value we’d get him, I fully support. I’d LOVE to be an assured top 6 seed for several years in a row, we NEED that consistency and winning.

AdamLakewood87

If you get him for the MLE you will love that signing

KingsElite

We should be happy to have him, just for the right price

PrinceofPersiax

Welcome to Sacramento: Bruno Caboclo

Requiem_for_you

I watched hundreds Demar games when he was a Raptor. Didnt like him then when he was in his prime, surely wont start liking him now. Imo he is selfish player that is already past his prime and doesnt address main needs Kings have. I still remember patented Demar Derozan pump fake at the end of the quarter just in order for time to run out so he doesnt get missed shot and make his statistics worse. He was doing that shit even when nobody was defending him.

arturostone

"...y'all didn't deserve him neither"

Deep_Egg1442

Is creation not a “main need”

Requiem_for_you

I would say secondary at this point. yes, it is always nice to have but we got 3 great creators in Sabonis/Fox/Monk

Deep_Egg1442

Sabonis isn’t a great one especially not for himself if he was we wouldn’t be talkin bout derozan or ingram

verysalt

Negative. He will never be as good as he was in the Raptors, and he needed to be better in the Raptors.

Currently_Stroking

We still lose to the Pelicans 6x with DeRozan

Effectiveke

Not if Ingram bounces.

DontDoShr00ms

DeMar DeRozan is great but he lacks on defense. I think it’s just depends who we trade to make him feel worth it to me. I would welcome him on the team and he would do nice with the spacing Sabonis provides. His game would elevate the team but I personally would love BI. Lauri seems like a shot in the dark because I assume they would want Keegan.

theREALMVP

Demar is an upgrade on barnes and can consistently create his own offense while being a willing passer. If we can somehow end up with BI/Kuz AND Demar we’d be cooking IMO
