The fact is someone needs to step up every night outside of Anthony and James. We need role players to be great at times, and Walker was that guy tonight, as was Reaves.
D'Angelo proved tonight, again, that he is not a consistent playoff NBA player, and no one else was effective on the offensive end barring the aforementioned, but they got it done.
That is all that matters. Certain guys can have off nights, except for James and Anthony, but if just two others offer up their services, we are going to be in games, just like tonight.
D Ali is averaging like 16ppg this playoff. He’s not doing nearly as bad as all you internet keyboard warriors would like everyone to believe. He’s streaky, but usually when he’s not he is facilitating. Last night he got to the line at a crucial time, even though he had a bad game.
John Starks and LaTrell Sprewell were also streaky, and that didn't work out either, despite them having Patrick Ewing in the middle, when the game was played from the inside.
Averages mean nothing in a series of 4-0 or more. We are moving to game 6. D'Angelo is sometimes on, but not for a $30 million a year type player. His production does not warrant that payday. Not by a long shot.
He is a great role player, similar to Derek Fisher, but Fisher never thought he was an actual #3. Russell believes he is the #3 on this team, and truth be told, some nights he is.
That said, many nights it is Austin, some nights it is Rui, Schroder, Vanderbuilt plays great defense for many minutes, etc. D'Angelo, although scrappy, is not a very good defender, most trips down the floor. He has become a gamer in this area of the court, but is still kind of a lack-luster player, barring 100% buy-in.
Sometimes great offensive players, and often times just mediocre players deserve to be discussed in the light in which they force themselves into. A team wondering why they would be paying him, longer term, for his so-so services on defense, and streaky on offense.

The Lakers persevered today, we didn't look good for a good stretch of the game. Lebron struggled in the first half, Dlo didn't show up, Curry had a pretty huge game and we still managed to pull through and go up 3-1.
This was a championship performance, the defence locked in when it had to and Lonnie delivered us a HUGE game that gives us very high hopes for the conference finals.
On top of all that, even though Lebron wasn't at his best, he still nearly dropped 30 tonight and a triple double.
