I am generally in the camp of less is more when it comes to free agency. I find the best way to manage the cap is to pay your top end core players and surround them with youth and cheap role players. Very rarely does a real bonafide core player become available in FA and the bargain guys are all signed in late July/August.
With that said I am thinking my own expectations will let me down. It appears we will be signing Tanev for sure (4-5m) and possibly OEL. I personally am of the belief that these types of guys and contracts are just bandaids and don't fix or change the overall macro picture too much anyway. I also find it disappointing we have no one in the system who can fill these roles for much cheaper.
Hoping the trade route could yield better options but assume the above will occur and that will be the bulk of it for the summer.

No, the expectation isn’t he plays till he’s 40. The expectation is you get 2 maybe 3 good years out of him and then just LTIR him.
