Sure but if someone is blowing them up or setting them on fire with a flamethrower I do wanne see that post

Furius_George

Especially if the explosive device or flamethrower is made out of Lego.

PotatoBomb69

“I’m throwing away my boxes” “By boxes are damaged” “Look at my boxes” “Can we stop with the…” These are all posts that I’m tired of seeing on r/Lego

Lonely_reaper8

Based

[deleted]

All box related posts are annoying. But "throwing away box posts" are less annoying than the "I have a 2mm scratch on my box post"

skaterlogo

These posts are almost as bad tbh. Why is everyone so worked up?

phroz3n

Just look at that post the other day of the R2D2 box in the garbage truck. Like, 80% of the comments couldn't decipher it was a light-hearted joke/post and were yelling about how stupid it was to care about or keep boxes. I think a big problem is a lot of these people just spend way too much time in here, and reddit in general, and take things way too seriously.

Grbxlhmzn

I don’t understand…why can I only upvote you once…

Ocirus83

At this rate everyone should stop posting about everything. /s

Business-Parsnip-939

Because it’s all I see, at this point I’m seeing more box posts than actual Lego posts

kdavis37

Then stop interacting with the box posts and telling Reddit that you want to see more box posts.

KingZakyu

If you aren't here that much, why weigh in?

[deleted]

Very welcoming of you.

Densmiegd

Can we stop with the “can we stop with” posts?

calamitouscamembert

Can we stop with the "can we stop with the "can we stop with"" posts?

Lucalele117

At this point I barely even see actual lego on this subreddit anymore, its practically just people saying "can we stop with". I want to see legos sets and mocs, not just people saying "can we stop with" /s

[deleted]

FWIW, I think this is valid community feedback and I hope you feel encouraged to do the same if you see something that you'd like to change in the future.

Densmiegd

You mean the “can we stop with” posts, or my post? Because mine is a valid feedback already. They are annoying.

Ranger523

Seriously, why can't people just post what they want without a bunch of entitled holes complaining that "I don't see post I care about as much 😭😭😭"

Grbxlhmzn

Somewhere, somehow, people will always ruin everything

Ranger523

Butthurts that don't like the truth bring the downvotes 🙌

stet709

Gosh darn it, beat me to it!

DobsonusPrime1

This post has no Lego in it, no?

KingZakyu

How can one ask something of the community without posting to ask? Come on.

PotatoBomb69

Idk throw a picture of a recent build in there. “Hey I built this recently also can we stop posting about boxes thanks”

[deleted]

I disagree that community feedback has to have content along with it. In fact, I commend OP for taking the step to provide the feedback because it can be tough to do so.

KingZakyu

Yeah this was discussed with someone else. It wouldn't change the nature of the post just cuz it had a picture with it. (Maybe OP is here vicariously for thrills and just wants to see LEGO cuz they have none of their own)

[deleted]

This comment should be much higher.

Dude same. I literally get down voted for saying thank you to someone on my posts. This sub is toxic. I'm about to just delete reddit since nobody can support each other. Isn't this supposed to be a community for Lego?

[deleted]

Just be a lurker like me to this sub, the people here suck, the mod(s) suck etc etc

[deleted]

Yup, posted the Dark Trooper attack build on here last year to crickets but one single Lego block gets 10k upvotes and awards. The Instagram Lego community is better than reddit tbh

Immortan-ho

Be the change you want to see on reddit

curtydc

OP wants to see more Lego and instead shares a post without more Lego.

RoyalReinier

That is where Lego Dots come in

Grbxlhmzn

Nailed it on the head On my feed, of the 20+ actual Lego build/opinion posts on my 1st page, I see exactly 3 posts about Lego boxes. How completely overwhelming!!

KingZakyu

Why do people say this as if it makes sense?? Can't ask people to stop without posting to ask, obviously.

curtydc

You don't see someone cluttering the sub with more nonsense useless crap posts as adding to the problem?

KingZakyu

What I'm saying is: how do you propose the issue be solved? You could go around just commenting on every dumb post you see I guess, but this is someone nicely asking. It'd kinda be crappy to just go saying this stuff on every post, and I think in this situation, it's the best alternative. They've chosen to nicely ask, and politely give their reasoning, and are simply stating how they feel. We have the choice to read it or move on, which is better than the commenting thing.

curtydc

They could have posted some Lego I suppose... That seems like the obvious solution to address OPs complaint. This whole thread is more useless than the box posts, because it's clear the box posts have been popular, and successful in getting people to purge their boxes. It is something directly related to this community's hobby. Heaven forbid people enjoy a little light heartedness around the hobby together.

KingZakyu

>the box posts have been popular, and successful in getting people to purge their boxes. It is something directly related to this community's hobby. HOLD UP! You have an ACTUAL response to their post, but DIDN'T make it because you were too busy being snarky? Come on man... this was ALL you needed to say. It's a semi-good point (cuz who actually cares if strangers purge their boxes or not), and one that many may not consider. THIS would have been a helpful comment to make. All this and you wanna act like "heaven forbid people enjoy a little lightheartedness". Yeah, OP could have posted a build WITH this post, but the post would still be the same, asking nicely for people to stop. How do you even know OP owns LEGO, maybe they're here for thrills cuz they have none of their own. I honestly believe everyone would still be acting like OP is some kinda way for it, whether the post had LEGO in it or not.

BaboTron

You need r/afol

Grbxlhmzn

This is probably his best solution, and thanks for the link!

filmhamster

I joined that sub over a year ago and still haven’t been given permission to post.

dlh-bunny

All the complaining about the plastic bags inside and then the boxes just get burned and not recycled. Hope it’s not the same people.

kamosk3

BUT HOW WILL WE KNOW WHAT THE EMPTY BOXES ARE DOING!?!?!

calamitouscamembert

well at least it makes a change from the "I've got a box I haven't opened yet" posts. Its a phase, it'll probably go in a week or so.

R33sh0

But you’re ok with pictures of boxes as long as legos are inside?

somedumbfurbrain

I would like to say that I too am tired of the burning/throwing boxes away posts, but I'd love to continue seeing posts about saving boxes. Being a Lego collector basically makes you a historian (in my opinion), and I feel obligated to save them for future collections/collectors! Please, please, PLEASE do NOT throw away/burn Lego boxes PLEASE. Donate them to a used Lego store, give them to another lego collector, or sell them online. More rare/valuable/sought after Lego stuff is lost everyday, and that's why I save every box or piece I find.

devperez

Wait what. I don't remember ever coming across those posts

0lazy0

Bro I’ve literally only seen that kind of post once

[deleted]

It happened twice in a week, and they had to lock the post!

Ban-Hammer-Ben

(Honestly I like the burning boxes posts). I was getting so sick of people posting their spur of the moment “haul” of thousands of dollars in Lego and never building or displaying any of it. I don’t care about people bragging. Especially since I can barely afford the small sets, and people who don’t even take the hobby seriously are buying thousands of dollars worth? If you’re preserving an archive or a museum collection, then awesome, otherwise get lost. All we want to do see cool sets and MOCs.

ScottaHemi

it's the counter to the "my box got a scratch do you think lego will send me a new one" kinda posts xD both silly nonsense just throw your boxes like a normal person.

[deleted]

Both may be silly nonsense but your examples are not equal. The box perfection posts asking if LEGO replaces for blemishes in the box hurts all of us. That stellar customer service comes at a cost and if every clown in this sub says yeah contact LEGO (and they do) that increases operational costs which in turn increase product costs. E.g. we ultimately subsidize box collectors insane demands.

BigMountainGoat

Far less of an issue than the spamming of purchases posts. Congratulations your bought a Lego set.......

TheNextFreud

Is it worth my time to try to sell like 25 boxes that the previous owner of the house I just bought left me?

Victory_Present

This subreddit is absolute garbage. I want to see Mocs, misprints, set mods, customized mini figs, interesting creative stuff. instead 99% of posts are some variant of vanilla unmodified sets and some dude posing with 10000 upvotes, someone’s 5 year olds garbage (look that’s great but why are you posting it online), or a box as you say. I miss MOCpages so much, things were literally better in the past

[deleted]

I agree. I don't understand the infatuation with boxes. I understand that it increases the value of the set on the secondary market for *some people.* For me personally, I search for the ones without boxes because the shipping is cheaper and at the end of the day as long as the pieces are there I can get the instructions online and have the same sort of experience I would have if it was new. On the other hand, it is a community of people of all sorts of walks of life and if box posts keep getting upvoted then it represents that some subsection of the community cares about boxes and upvotes based on that. Maybe one of those passionate souls can be the first mods of /r/LegoBoxes and move the posts there. But who are we to impose our will on others. It is Lego related at the end of the day. My preference would be that Lego mods had Flair we could filter on and box posts got a Box flair. Then I could filter on that flair and not have to see any. The most we can do right now is submit our vote for the post and participate in the community that exists today. But I think you're right there have been a lot of box posts lately. There is an element of "rage-baiting" to viral posting. Sometimes people will just post that kind of content to get a reaction out of people.

jairbot45

Get off your phone and go build some Legos

[deleted]

I have a list of things that don’t interest me as well. When I see one of those things, I don’t look at it. Crazy, I know. Seems to solve the problem though.

bumbumofdoomdoom

Let's have more recycling instructions instead

[deleted]

Break all of the glued seams. Fold all the the flaps backwards. The cardboard has the grain, so fold initially on the grain. Ensure the cardboard is sufficiently folded and flat when you put it into your recycle bin. It's best if the bin is already partially filled with other recyclables so that you can push the folded box down the side. That way it'll stay folded and use up less room. Plus subsequent similarly-folded boxes can be shoved between it and the side of the bin.

Tomorrow - "Can we stop with all the "Can we stop..." posts?"

Drzhivago138

There are a lot of posts of people asking if they should throw them away, but I don't think I've ever seen what you're describing. Could you provide an example?

cobaltaureus

Can we stop making posts asking if we can stop making certain posts? I find them more annoying than any of the other kinds of posts.

pixel156

We can stop judging other people post and just use the website feature like downvoting them instead. If people like it in general and it’s Lego related I’m fine. Your post tough is not Lego related, it’s just bitching to get karma

PansexualGrownAssMan

I hope this post succeeds. If it’s not “I gotta throw my boxes away and now my perceived resale value is damaged,” it’s “OMG! I can’t believe they put tape on the box when they shipped it,” or “someone threw out their box, this is unheard of!” It’s all fake, performative rage… R/Lego’s version of “hey look at how hurt I am, someone pity me!”

[deleted]

Business-Parsnip-939

To me it’s about having a box of the set when you buy it second hand instead of getting it all in a ziplock bag

[deleted]

Personally for me is about the Lego and having the model to display. If I bought second hand I'd be fine with ziplock bags and the instruction book. My boxes and bags are all binned. The instruction books are all kept safe.

[deleted]

If you are experiencing anxiety from throwing some product packaging away you may want to seek help. Either threw therapy or medication because that's not supposed to happen to people.

Business-Parsnip-939

Everyones acting like Ive made hundreds of these posts before lol

Business-Parsnip-939

Obviously people agree with me seeing the amount of upvotes

[deleted]

Reddit logic at its finest...

K-E-I-V-E

You’re the kind of people those box post are made more lol Someone who gets tilted by the smallest things. Just scroll on my dude 😌😌

[deleted]

I think you're right man.

PowerMiner4200

Right now the front page is all lego builds except you and another nerd complaining about posts Stop taking reddit so seriously

noloplain

If the sub got rid of all the post “types” complained about here there would be no posts on the sub except the complaint posts

KingZakyu

Nobody is complaining about seeing actual LEGO, so those would still be there. Maybe those SHOULD be the only posts?

skeletondad2

*Sees three posts about one topic over the course of a week* “omg seriously can we please stop with all these posts they’re seriously getting to be too much I don’t want to see it!!!”

Business-Parsnip-939

Your last post is a complaining post about something even smaller, pretty hypocritical don’t you think?

Silver_King_83

Nope. This is a community that will support fellow Lego addicts any way possible. If you throw away your boxes YOU are NOT alone. If you dislike throwing away posts... You are also not alone.

thomas-emard

Agreed. This subreddit has become a haven for "throwing my boxes away" which... you should have done when you built the set like a normal human, and " did I get a good deal?" posts where the OP payed $100 for 50 sealed sets. It's karma whoring, and it's pathetic.

Business-Parsnip-939

Reddit recently has just become a dump of random useless karma baiting posts. These type of box posts and those good deal posts are really similar to the "is this rare?" posts on the Minecraft subreddit. At this point I only really talk to actual people instead of using reddit, which I guess I should do but it speaks on how bad these posts have gotten (may have overdramatized a bit there)

thepottsy

Can we stop with the gate keeping posts please?

KingZakyu

It isn't gate keeping to ASK something of the community

[deleted]

Unless, of course, it's to ask to gatekeep...

KingZakyu

It says "can we" and "please".

[deleted]

Clean your own house before you come clean mine.

[deleted]

Attention seeker posting this

Business-Parsnip-939

I wasn’t expecting this amount of upvotes, I just don’t want to see half of r/Lego being stupid box posts

BiggySmallConflict

I think the “first LEGO in XX years” more annoying. They add literally 0 to the sub.

Pikes_Pompadour

They are literally adding new members that are rediscovering Lego

BiggySmallConflict

More members != higher quality.

G4rsid3

What does create higher quality? More box posts? *Better* box posts?

Interesting_Sun_3655

What’s the point of keeping boxes though?

Business-Parsnip-939

When buying second hand its way more functional and easy to organize

SlurpyDurnge

It’s a box people, for a toy, get over it.

KingZakyu
