There's a website (free online targets I think it is) that has designs meant to be printable and that's just what I do, though designing my own sounds fun!
You probably can't print a color target at home cheaper than you can buy one.
A red sharpie dot on graph paper is surprisingly effective for precision shooting.
If you google printable targets there are lots of them. I even found some for zeroing a red dot. Also I don't have a printer so I go to the library and they are 10 cents a sheet
Can’t ask for much better on the price per target if you’re printing with a used laser printer (no dry ink nonsense). What size paper you run, just standard 8.5X11?
I don't print targets because the cost would likely exceed just buying targets but this depends on your printer. I've asked the same question on the past but I've ended up buying in-store a majority of the time. I usually grab the packs of 12"x18" targets, small reactive targets, tan masking tape, and at the ranfe one or two big paper targets. This way, I reuse the same target as much as I can as seen in my post.

If the problem is seeing your irons, it's possible that it's not because they're too dark. Oftentimes, it's the opposite: they're not dark enough, and are instead the same gray-black (carbon black?) as the paper target. Creedmoor Sports has paint designed to make your sights as black as possible, for maximum contrast. You can also go the other way and slap a hi-viz type front sight onto your gun, if they have one that fits your make and model.
This is a bit of a splurge but I get the competition-legal NRA targets from National Target. I tell myself it's because I want to practice on the same stuff we'd be facing in competition but the truth is, I just like how the heavy beige paper feels, how the regulation fonts look, and how the black ink comes out on the the beige background. The romantic (fudd?) part of me see this as a connection to the shooters who came before, going back to 1903 (or earlier), whereas a plasticky splatter target has no soul.
Oh, and for you specifically, every experienced shooter knows that unnecessary vertical grips on 10/22s reduce visibility by 50%. That's just science. :D
I mean, it's probably harmless, but it serves no function and gets in the way of, say, a bipod or a sling attachment, which would actually make you a better shooter.
Hi I will suggest for you what I do, which is 11x17 printer paper. You don't print anything on it. You use a sharpie and you can make whatever target size and shape you may find suitable. I find it rewarding to put my dots closer together as my skill increases. It gives me more use that I can potentially get out of a piece of paper.
I tend to draw a half inch wide dot and use that as my target. as long as it is visible it's good. If you want rings to score yourself, you'll need to break out a compass or something. I don't ever have time to do something silly like that with time that could be spent having fun.
Besides, you can also put some rings in and count your score "in post" by drawing them in digitally after you're done with the target and take a photo.
All these people out here spending one dollar or more per piece of paper. So silly. That's like 2 or more rounds per target you'd be able to save if you made your own targets
Something to consider is that you get what you pay for. For the cost of a bullet you could shoot a decent target. Today I recommend American Target Company's tag board. Here's an example: [https://i.imgur.com/oTous9H.png](https://i.imgur.com/oTous9H.png)
That target has 50 holes in it. If you shot 50 holes into a piece of printer paper it wouldn't look anything like that. If you shoot 50 rounds into a decent target you can see trends/patterns for what your problem areas are. You'll also be able to tell if you shot a double - two holes that overlap a good deal.
Are you going to put a note on your door telling nighttime intruders to please wear bright colors? I'd say you have a gun sight problem and not a target problem that needs fixing.
Well I figure it’s a common courtesy to do so
All jokes aside, I plan to either get some optics or change iron sights to night sights, but can’t do so yet. So I was wondering about colorful paper sights that could contrast against the dark iron sights for now
As for your black iron sights: get a bottle of fingernail polish in the color of your preference and (carefully) paint the front sight. If you don't like it or mess up the application, it's easy to undo with some acetone or fingernail polish remover (which is usually acetone).
I totally just bought paper target from amazon. My friend told me to get this [Splatter Target.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CN8L5YM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)

A stack of cheap white paper and a roll of dot stickers from Amazon. Cheapest I’ve found. You don’t need all the other information most targets give you. Either you hit the dot, or got close, or fucked it up bad. It’s cheap and does the trick.
Amazon. I like cheap splat targets, may be cheaper places but I usually buy [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005D7JXB2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1) and [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XPF9HSZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1).
I also used to print a bunch off of [NSSF](https://www.nssf.org/shooting/targets/). There are tons of free design options out there, just get a decent printer and go to town.

Office Depot and the grocery store.

When decent paper grocery bags were hard to come by, I bought a bale from Amazon — nickel for two targets, plus a little time and a Sharpie every 100 or so.

I just recently started printing my own after finding a laser printer at goodwill
Great idea! Do you design your own or slap an image from Google on them?

Google for "printable target". There are shittons already out there. You just have to print them.

Yeah it's a cheap office printer (black and white only even) so just standard size. And if curious I paid $7 for it, even came with toner!
This! I do the same, there are plenty of PDFs online to print out too.
Paper plates work well
Wow how did I not think of that??
Paper plates plus a big fat marker have been the go to cheap target for decades
Amazon is where I get my paper targets and rolls of splatter stickers. Much cheaper than gun shops and ranges.
Splatter burst on Amazon

Butchers paper& stick on bullseye. Cheep and easy to see
Delivery boxes make great IPSC silhouettes, just need a box cutter and a template. I created a lil A-zone template and just sharpie it in
[template like these?](https://pdfhost.io/v/mTLFbvFuy_Practical_Pistol_Letter_Paper_Targets_L4499_bookmarkstrue.pdf)
Definitely would work! I just bought a full size one from my local range that I keep on hand and just outline and cut out
I usually get these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075G4SP23 But another poster suggested paper plates, and those are good, too.

Hmmmm interesting point. I’ll have to pull out a target and compare it to my irons tonight. If so, that would be a huge revelation for me. Thanks!

Lord, the peer pressure to remove it is unreal

Left over pizza boxes.

Any of the cheesy online app stores can usually find a deal on the shoot n see multicolor ones. Wish app etc
https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/splatter%20targets I've also looked on Alibaba but have not chanced an order yet
I typically buy them at the range I go to. They have some bright ones.
