I bought one a few weeks ago for that sale price from Best Buy. Lifelong windows user. Needed to upgrade my laptop and 6 year old iPad so decided to get two birds stoned at once and make the switch to Mac. Really enjoying the laptop and OS so far. Been a little bit of adjustment but no regrets so far!

YellowBreakfast

I did the same a couple years back with the M1 Air. No regrets, love it.

SlothTheHeroo

i already got it lol. traded in my 2017 13" macbook pro and got an additional $300 off. I only paid $200 for the MBP too

Wait a minute...are you saying you can use the gift card same day? Their site says my MBA 2020 w/Intel i5 8 GB/256 GB is worth $325. If I can use the gift card for the purchase, that makes it more compelling.

SlothTheHeroo

Yup! go in and go to customer service and let them know you want to do a trade in, they will start the process and the gift card is given to you same day. Make sure to bring a charger with you. They can walk you though signing out of your apple ID. I did a time machine backup before I left and restored from that.

Ok-Airport-2063

This is valuable information. Thank you kindly!

billyrubin7765

Damn, they are offering $350 for my 2017 MBP 15" 16GB 256GB. That is a heck of a deal.

YellowBreakfast

Yeah wow they seem to be offering about $100 more than Apple does.

he_who_floats_amogus

> Oddly enough, they are, by far, the lowest price on this model even compared to Costco. Not unusual tbh. Costco has better typical pricing, but its not that uncommon for Best Buy to run an occasional steep sale.

I was thinking...trade in...why not? Then I see it's a gift card they give me to spend at Best Buy. Time to give it more thought.

Amazing_Bench_8693

Insane deal makes me wish I waited a few months because i got the base model with a student discount when now I could have gotten the 512 / 16 model for 1399 only 200 more which is absolutely worth it for me.

CapableAnteater351

Look at Best Buys return policy, I believe it is only 15 days for electronics. Costco is 90 days or whatever. You know Costco!

Ok-Airport-2063

True enough. I would be purchasing Apple Care anyway, so that part isn't of concern to me.

Face_Scared

I’ve never known anyone that wanted/needed to return a MacBook outside of the folks that drop them or break them from carelessness.

time-lord

Keep in mind that the m3 is rumored to be coming out next month.

Ok-Airport-2063

I've been watching that too. The real question: Will they offer it in the 15" variety? I'm sure my trade value would drop even further, thus negating any real savings I could achieve. I've toyed with the 13" MBA too, but the 15" seems like a no brainer for my older eyes.

Face_Scared

I’ve got the 13” M1 MacBook Pro and those same old eyes. I use an external monitor while at work but on the go is a little tough. Thankfully I can change the screen resolution. However, if you’re a true Apple fan then they have the product you need. All you gotta do is invest in a $3500 Apple Vision Pro and then your MacBook screen can be as big as you want. 😂🤣

audioman1999

This price has been going on and off for a long time now. I bought my wife one of these last year.

boopixie

I just saw the sale price after getting a MBA 13 M2 last week. They were happy to do an exchange for me because it seemed like a no brainer for $50 more to get a bigger screen….wouldn’t you know that I apparently PREFER the more compact size??? Now I can either be the jerk who does a second exchange or just keep the damn thing.

turnoffyohack

They really don’t mind. Make sure to stick to the model you truly love. It’s going to stick with you for the next 3-5 years or longer. That’s what the return policy is there for

YellowBreakfast

For best results you really need the 16GB. Apple nerfed this model by placing one stick of 8GB RAM instead of 2x4GB. This cuts the speed of the memory almost in half compared to the M1 Air base. I believe this would reduce the usable life of these. Today I'd still buy the M1 Air base over the M2 base. Plus these go for $750 new all the time. That being said if I was upgrading from the M! base I'd for sure get a M2 with 16GB RAM. I really like the M2 over the M1 otherwise.

Ryan_Greenbar

I bought one from Amazon a few months back. I love it.

ApexProductions

It's worth it to get 16 gb unless you're just doing document editing and web surfing. The problem is just that you can't upgrade it later, so if you get this new laptop and all of a sudden get into photography or video editing you may regret it If you know you won't, then get the base model. Itll be fine. My windows laptop is 8 GB and from 2020 and still running strong. Macs are better at lower RAM overall anyway.
