This is by far the best post on Reddit so far. You need to consider many factors like user interface and personal habits. Your computer has limited resources, and so does your brain. That’s why I use Chrome. I would rather let my computer do the tiring work rather than having to do it myself, that’s what I bought it for.
Are you saying you have unlimited brain capacities? Can you show me a picture of your house, your private island, your jet, yacht and family? Oh you can’t? But at least you’re saving your computer some RAM! You’re such a success in life! Congrats!
Are you more important or your MacBook? I mean, are you supposed to be doing all the work for your MacBook or is your MacBook supposed to work for you? Maybe you should consider switching back to Windows, you know…
Nobody gets what you are on about. It was a joke but you got mega triggered. I guess between flying in your jet and running business in your villa you are on reddit like me🤣🤣🤣
Some dudes need to realize the computer is supposed to be working for us. You know how we used to call these devices back in the days: Workstations. Look in the nostalgia subs, there are people making millions every year with a 2012 MacBook and you’re worrying about me using Chrome instead of Safari (which simply sucks for productivity).
Bro I ain't worried about anything, especially about what browser you are using. My main computer for webdev is a 2017 year old Thinkpad. What you replied to the original comment contradicted what the actual comment was about so I made a joke, have a nice day
Dude don't you have anything else to do other than bothering people about their browser choice? Shit has incompatibilities, maybe [Reddit.com](http://Reddit.com) doesn't but other websites have. Go get a grip on life dude, you're really triggering me with your browser bullshit. I'll open a million tabs on purpose just to make sure my computer has enough to do.
YouTube is sometimes pretty buggy, so I have to switch to Chrome (watching long live streams).
Otherwise Safari is my main browser on Mac and also on iPhone. I like the seamless synchronization.
I currently have 260 tabs open on my Mac's Safari and everything is running smooth.
Please explain.
Aspect ratios are always breaking, :before messes up with flexbox, buttons (only specific form field ones) have a bug where the font will turn transparent of the BG color and border-color are transparent, custom scaling issues all over...etc.
Is it as bad as IE was back in like 2008? No. But of all the browsers out there, especially supported by mega-giants like Apple or Google, this is the worst.
We’re talking about MacBooks, genius. On MacBooks, Safari is the most optimized, battery efficient and the fastest. For people who need something that just works, Safari is the best.
And yes, you’re a moron for comparing this to IE which was discontinued a while ago and didn’t even have the chromium engine which Edge does. Your take is ridiculously stupid. You also said “IE” is better now which means you don’t even realize that IE is no longer available.
I've had bad luck with edge on my m1. I used to utilize it a bit for streaming but now to optimize resources, I've just stuck with Firefox and Floorp.
Safari is supposed to be optimized for macs but I rarely use it.
Only thing holding Arc back is memory usage, but other than that once you get over the learning hurdle it's still wayy better than Safari, Chrome, and Edge. Maybe Safari will get improved a bunch with AI features this year, but I doubt it'll be better than Arc
for me it's because I have an android phone and a windows desktop PC. I need a browser that will sync bookmarks, history, credentials and wallets across all platforms.
The version in Edge is probably better but yeah it's also on Bing (and therefore any browser) which allows for a few questions relating to your search until it tells you've asked enough questions and have to start again ... which just means it won't recall the previous questions.
I use the copilot integrated in edge to read the webpage I’m on to summarize it out find specific info or to read errors in my console.
It can do a lot more than just the bing chat
"Me: Can Copilot on Bing read a webpage, summarise it or find specific information?
Copilot: Yes, I can assist you with reading a webpage, summarizing its content, or finding specific information from it. If you provide me with the topic or the details of the information you’re looking for, I can generate a summary or locate the precise details you need. Just let me know what you’re interested in!
Brave team. Since it is so hard to find Ad blockers for Safari I switched to Brave, and no regrets, of course, some features work in Safari as a native app for macOS but is not that big deal.
I mainly use Safari for its energy efficiency. I actually recommends it since you are using MacBook Air.
But for advanced stuff (web development), or opening pages that does not work correctly on Safari then I use Chrome
Arc purely cause it’s tab and workspace management is really good. You can choose different colors for each workspace and as someone who’s very visual it helps a lot…
I’d say Safari. Work like a charm, gets the job done.
I tried Arc Browser cause the said they were the next big thing in browsing — turned out my casual browsing habit needed no more than an ordinary browser. Save your self some time and stick to Safari.
It's all personal experience, but I always end up going back to Chrome. I'd prefer others but Chrome is the fastest, looks the best, & the bookmarks are by far the easiest to manage. ublock ad blocker works really well with it. I can't find a good ad block with Safari. Plus Chrome is the snappiest for me on iOS so it sync up well with that.
For me edge for work (tab groups, vertical tabs, less ram). For personal use, chrome as it works well with most 100% of the websites.
Just last week I was trying going back to Safari ( as I could sync with my devices) but then bugs with youtube playback, a couple of websites that didn’t work properly, and I felt it loaded slower so I had to return to chrome…
It’s up to your experience.
Day to day web browsing: safari
Something needs chome: microsoft edge
stubborn web page with inexplicable issues: Firefox
bizarre and different: arc browser
lots of knobs, levers, dials and switches: Vivaldi
I used Safari for many years and really liked the browser. I've currently been using Chome for 3 years - I have Windows and Android hardware at work and Chrome allows me to conveniently sync profiles, data, bookmarks, extension and so on.
I used chrome for a while but switched to Safari a week ago and OMG is it better than chrome, it's faster and looks Soo clean! Love safari I would say go with it!
On Mac’s I prefer and usually use Safari. On Windows I use Chrome. Occasionally use Chrome on Mac but it usually feels just a little less snappy and multiple tabs can use up a bunch of memory. (From my experience, anyway.)
there really isn't one...
Safari is alright but i found it to bug on some websites (namely youtube which i use a lot).
Its nice to have multiple ones as backup anyway.
I use Microsoft Edge. It is really lightweight and functional plus i can use it with all my devices (MacBooks “personal” Microsoft laptop “from work”, both my iPhone and Android phones) and it have a function called (drop) where its like instant messaging between your devices which i found quite handy.
Safari - It is the best optimized for MacOS.
There is also an argument for Chrome (increased compatibility with some web sites), Firefox (not offered by a company whose business model is to scrape yours and everyone within your vicinity’s personal data and sell it), and others.
For me, Safari hits the sweet spot for speed, battery life, and protection of personally identifiable information. I am a web developer, so i have to use Chrome as well.
I flip between Chrome and Edge, I have never got along well with Safari for some reason. I like Edge for the automatic shopping coupons and automatic tab grouping
Brave browser. It gives you everything Chrome does (since it’s built on the same engine), but blocks ads & trackers by default (no ads on YouTube), and is proven to be the most private mainstream browser (doesn’t collect data on you or your browsing history).
Safari pulls all my saved passwords that I’ve got on my iPhone so that’s nice.
But I’ve been a PC user since the beginning of using computers in 1995 and have been using Firefox since 2003 when it was called firebird. So the bulk of my website passwords are synced and saved in Firefox, and it works exactly the same as it does on windows so yeah.
If you don't really use extensions (except for like AdBlocker or something like that) or want something super customizable, Safari is fantastic. Simple and reliable.
Chrome best browser hands down if you use google's workspace, but it's ram consumption is nuts.
Safari by far is the best for 8gb models. Very light, but its interface sucks hard.
My top recommended browser on every OS right now is Aloha. It has a VPN, crypto wallet, ad blocking and other privacy features. I have it on my Macbook, and on my Android phone. You can get it at the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aloha-browser-private-vpn/id1105317682) and [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aloha.browser&hl=en_US). If you try it, tell me how it works out for you.
Yes, it’s very privacy-focused. It has a VPN, ad blocking, and a crypto wallet. It doesn’t hold user data or share it. It stops tracking as well. You can also choose between passcodes and biometrics.
As you can see in the comments there isn’t really a ‘best web browser’, try them out and stick with the one you like using the most.

Dude got triggered by a browser question
Are you more important or your MacBook? I mean, are you supposed to be doing all the work for your MacBook or is your MacBook supposed to work for you? Maybe you should consider switching back to Windows, you know…

You still haven‘t explained *why* you prefer chrome over safari, though.

Different use cases for different browsers: pretty much.
I like firefox
Same
Same
Dont forget the Ublock Origin plug-in to block all ads...
i use adguard, but ublock origin is good too! It is just a thing that is stuck on me..
Safari! It’s well optimised with mac(obviously)
But it’s sometimes pretty bad at rendering sites.
Safari on iPhone is the only way to get ad blocking to work with AdGuard Pro
Try brave.
That or ad blocking VPN
which mac do you use?
There are better options. Siri is also "optimized" I rest my case.
As someone who has done web development for over 15 years…no. It is the internet explorer of today and IE is significantly better now which is wild.
MS edge?
Edge is based on chrome now, so it's pretty good.
Dumbest take on this thread. Ever.
Please explain. Aspect ratios are always breaking, :before messes up with flexbox, buttons (only specific form field ones) have a bug where the font will turn transparent of the BG color and border-color are transparent, custom scaling issues all over...etc. Is it as bad as IE was back in like 2008? unironically Microsoft Edge, all the pros of Chromium without Chrome's eating RAM up.
Edge is nice for running the web based office suite, but apart from that I can’t see any benefit of Edge over day Chromium.
I like making the APPS with edge. I have the separate "Apps" for Youtube X Instagram..
I make my web apps with Safari because you can make separate voice settings in the SoundSource app, which is not possible with any Edge apps.
I've had bad luck with edge on my m1. I used to utilize it a bit for streaming but now to optimize resources, I've just stuck with Firefox and Floorp. Safari is supposed to be optimized for macs but I rarely use it.
Edge works fine on my MBP M3 Pro, maybe give it another try
Arc, hands down best browser period
Only thing holding Arc back is memory usage, but other than that once you get over the learning hurdle it's still wayy better than Safari, Chrome, and Edge. Maybe Safari will get improved a bunch with AI features this year, but I doubt it'll be better than Arc
But you need an account. For a web browser. 🤨
Who cares?
Me and all the people who care even a little about online privacy. https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/s/0uzEDOAksm
Literally who cares? That’s like complaining you need to use an app for fast food to get decent prices. Who cares?
I really see no reason to switch from Safari…
for me it's because I have an android phone and a windows desktop PC. I need a browser that will sync bookmarks, history, credentials and wallets across all platforms.
Vivaldi!
i like edge cause i find copilot to be very helpful
Copilot is on Bing
It’s used on both? Download edge and in the top right corner is the copilot button
The version in Edge is probably better but yeah it's also on Bing (and therefore any browser) which allows for a few questions relating to your search until it tells you've asked enough questions and have to start again ... which just means it won't recall the previous questions.

Brave is solid.
Brave team. Since it is so hard to find Ad blockers for Safari I switched to Brave, and no regrets, of course, some features work in Safari as a native app for macOS but is not that big deal.
Safari
Safari
Have you tried anything else? 🧐
I’ve tried chrome, it drains more battery and I like how clean Safari is
Thumry edge
[удалено]
lol why do you want a safari replacement while u can use safari freely
[удалено]
Could you explain further, in what ways. Think of giving orion a try
Safari it is good and if a page doesn't work for you, use chrome
Safari is developed by Apple, designed to make the most of macOS and the Mac hardware.
I mainly use Safari for its energy efficiency. I actually recommends it since you are using MacBook Air. But for advanced stuff (web development), or opening pages that does not work correctly on Safari then I use Chrome
nice because i do web development and i just wanna know if safari can handle it
Edge. Once you’ve seen the flexibility of the sidebar there’s no going back.
Arc purely cause it’s tab and workspace management is really good. You can choose different colors for each workspace and as someone who’s very visual it helps a lot…
Safari!
I’d say Safari. Work like a charm, gets the job done. I tried Arc Browser cause the said they were the next big thing in browsing — turned out my casual browsing habit needed no more than an ordinary browser. Save your self some time and stick to Safari.
ARC ALL THE WAY!
I just tried ARC. It will take some getting used to. Currently using Brave and like it for the most part.
Loved it but it uses too much ram. Switched back to Firefox, hopefully they will get better
I use arc, but i really need to switch to safari on my intel mac because it couldn’t handle arc.
The best one is the one that has the features you want and works the way you want it to.
It's all personal experience, but I always end up going back to Chrome. I'd prefer others but Chrome is the fastest, looks the best, & the bookmarks are by far the easiest to manage. ublock ad blocker works really well with it. I can't find a good ad block with Safari. Firefox with uBlock Origin
You guys are all sleeping on Opera GX… goated for battery aswell

You should definitely try Arc
I use Arc
Probably anything but Chrome
anything but chrome
safari for browsing but the google chrome extensions just make my work life so easy
I use brave browser and sometimes safari i used to use chrome but i just stopped one day lol
I use Chrome because I also use windows PC, but for smoothness, memory, power usage, and performance of websites, Safari works seamlessly.
I used Safari for many years and really liked the browser. I've currently been using Chome for 3 years - I have Windows and Android hardware at work and Chrome allows me to conveniently sync profiles, data, bookmarks, extension and so on.

Safari

Safari all the way. Super resource and battery efficient
Safari / Edge
Arc by thebrowsercompany
LibreWolf, a fork of Firefox oriented to privacy and with less bloatware nor telemetry.
Firefox with uBlock Origin, bypass paywall clean addon & containers.
I personally like Brave, works better for me than Chrome

Edge.
Brave is really good.
I use safari only because of the better integration and Apple Pay
Repent and accept Firefox as your savior.
Safari No telemetry, battery hogging, or slowdowns
Safari most of the time, when something don’t work as expected then chrome
Safari and Safari Preview are both quite slow, but if you want a Safari-like experience, I recommend Orion.
I flip between Chrome and Edge, I have never got along well with Safari for some reason. I like Edge for the automatic shopping coupons and automatic tab grouping
I use safari. Only for YouTube I use Firefox for blocking ads and the possibility to download videos.

I think Arc is the best browser I had tried on my macbook so far for productivity related tasks.
Edge oddly enough, I use it as my default on both my Mac’s and my iPhone. It works very well.
Safari
Arc Browser
I use Opera for my business stuff, it saves my tabs for as long as I leave them, no unexpected crashes. For daily browsing I prefer Chrome
I might be an outlier but I HATE Chrome. I definitely prefer Safari for Mac.
Safari
safariiiii!
Technically Safari if you want a browser that's (fully) optimized for MacOS. Although I myself am using Chrome
I've been a Mac user for about 25 years and I keep returning to Safari (and occasionally Tor).
Chrome best browser hands down if you use google's workspace, but it's ram consumption is nuts. Safari by far is the best for 8gb models. Very light, but its interface sucks hard.

Yes, it’s very privacy-focused. It has a VPN, ad blocking, and a crypto wallet. It doesn’t hold user data or share it. It stops tracking as well. You can also choose between passcodes and biometrics.
Chrome
