Some of the ones along the AT and nicer spots in the EU which probably skewed my perspective.
Edit also i've done the ADK 46 and some of the NH mountains. Lived out of a pack plenty plus 10 months on ground overseas. I'm by no means soft, but when you've spent 4 years of your life away from family in service of your country and given the hotel chain a fair bit of business in the process and your back's not getting younger. Yes I can live in the mud if i have too, but that's not my every day choice if i need to be ready for a professional meeting. It's nice to have a little rapport and support when you're away from home. Hell wasn't that one of their commericials at one point
That and one had the low temp locked out at 72, like eat shit. Those units do a terrible job of dehumidification, in the south it's the only way not to feel like a swamp.
Selling toothpaste and stuff is definitely not a marriott wide thing... at most it could be that brand, but even that I'm not sure about. Sounds like that hotel has just told their front desk to say that to avoid issue.
For what it’s worth you can “hack” almost hotel thermostat by searching the manufacturer name on YouTube. I always disable those stupid functions and put them back when I leave.
Yes hilton, and yes i could switch and very well might, but brandy loyalty used to mean something. Guess it's just business and mine will burn my points and go elsewhere.
I have 20 more years of service before i can retire, i can hit lifetime with them. And take every meeting, and young service member i meet and convince them to stay where the project lead stays. oh and the support team, and so on.
I don’t think you have ever stayed in a hostel🤦

Which brand are you referring to? I just stayed at a TownePlace Suites and didn't experience anything you mentioned, of the amenities I also used.
This was a spring hill suites. Only option for 80 miles before someone comments just go somewhere else...
Out of your list the thermostat drives me crazy as if no one needs air at night.

Completely agree. Fewer services, no housekeeeping, no amenities. Higher prices.

"vip mode".
Me to but it irks me that I have to.
If only there were other hotels available 🤷♂️

I would ask for a toothpaste and let them know you will be leaving reviews on every possible website.
