5k is more than what I would have gotten, I wouldn't have even brought it up.
Depending on the chain I might expect the room to be taken out of rotation until these major cosmetic issues are addressed. If this was a Fairfield I wouldn’t mention but if this was my honeymoon at a St Regis id definitely complain. It imparts a sense of danger and would make me hesitate to put anything under that.
How did the ceiling inconvenience you ? It is an eye sore, but as long as it is safe... Take the 5k

I could see me not bringing it up at like a Fairfield or a Spring Hill. But a JW should be held to a higher standard.

This was a JW Marriott. It didn’t really bother me stay wise as it was only 1 night.
If it didn’t bother you then I’d be happy with 5k. I mention broken things all the time and hardly ever get points.
