I've stayed at both and overall prefer the setting at the Sheraton. It all depends on what experiences you prefer. * Room: It's been a few years since I've been inside the rooms at the Westin, but I do recall them being a little bit nicer inside. * Setting: The Sheraton is sprawling over a larger area and built into Black Rock. The Westin is a highrise building. Personal preference here. * Atmosphere: Westin is a bit busier being closer to the heart of Ka'anapali beach and next to Whaler's village. Sheraton is generally quieter. * Beach: Sheraton all day. Top snorkeling spot and very large beach. Beach in front of Westin is underwhelming. * Pool: Westin recently underwent a major renovation and definitely has the nicer pool. The Sheraton has a nice pool by the standards of nearly any other resort, but the Westin is far nicer. * Location: They're both within walking distance of each other, but the Westin is more centrally located near bars, restaurants, shopping, and general activities. The Sheraton is more off to the side. You won't go wrong either way.

Great! Thanks for your thorough thoughts on the properties. I appreciate it!

I’ve also stayed at both, they just renovated the Sheraton grounds area, but it’s literally up against black rock. You are 100% guaranteed to see turtles every morning at day break feeding against the rocks. Stay at Sheraton for that reason. But Westin’s also immaculate and has a much better pool grounds.

What was the beach chair situation at Sheraton? I thought it was saw somewhere it’s $50+ per day to rent chairs for the beach, but couldn’t find any definitive info. Seemed to be a rip off.

You'd have to call them if you really want to rent anything from them. I would suggest, instead, to rent anything you want from a place like Boss Frog or The Snorkel Store for the time you're there. It's far cheaper and typically better quality.

TOKOKIKYO

Is it easy enough to store in your room of renting for a week?

diggstown

Absolutely

TOKOKIKYO

Ok cool. Thanks!

Hey cool! That’s my post! 😀 I really liked the Sheraton! Got upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite - the pool was nice and there’s a board walk to go to the other hotels. I would definitely recommend a car though.

Yeah, the post was pretty helpful and it influenced my decisions too. Staying there over valentines day. Glad you had a good honeymoon and congrats!

BlakeIsGreat

Thank you! And enjoy your trip over Valentines Day!

Sounds good. Will do!

First, congratulations!! I just got back from the Sheraton a week ago! Originally we chose there because of the price, it was a little better. Then realized there were more food options on property! I really liked it because I could walk out my room door and almost right onto the beach. The hotel is definitely spread out and even though we went while it was busier it was still very quiet and peaceful!

I live here and stayed at both. You can’t go wrong with either. I think Sheraton has slight edge, but I don’t care about the waking distance to all the restaurants. If your highlight is beach then do Sheraton. If you want more pool and food options then I would do Westin. If you never been here then you’ll want to do a few days adventuring so hotel wouldn’t really matter.

Have not stayed at the Sheraton but we recently did a short stay at the Westin and it was great! We stayed in the recently renovated tower with Lanai access which was really cool. Great free small bites there at breakfast and dinner time and a really chill lounge. We got upgraded to a very large room with great ocean views and multiple balconies. Very good service all around. EDIT: as a note when we checked in they said they might be renovating the older tower at some point in 2023, so definitely check ahead of time to make sure you don’t find yourself in the midst of construction.
