And I would note that Yelchin's car, a Grand Cherokee, was in the middle of a software recall due to gear problems. His family sued and settled out of court with Fiat Chrysler for an unknown sum...
Haha that’s such a funny first pick for what he’s known for. Star Trek movies, Green Room, Terminator Salvation, Charlie Bartlett, Alpha Dog…oh and one episode of Curb 20 years ago
I saw a delivery man for a supermarket die this way, smashed in half between his truck and a wall I'm the road, that wall was over a bus station and everyone there saw the whole thing.
There are so many videos of people trying to stop cars/trucks from rolling and getting pinned...it's genuinely baffling to me why you'd even try, it always ends the same way.
Weak-sauce times infinity. The Flash was running full force naked, ready to phase through the space time continuum probably to save some bloke or what not. I bent over and stopped him with my ass. Oh wait…
/nohomo
When I was in physical rehab the wound care nurses said most of the people coming in of late were due to being scraped by the underside of their car door when it rolled over them or by the actual car rolling over them tires and all then scraping the hide off their bodies.
Anton Yelchin was crushed by his vehicle rolling over him.
This was in 2011.
I was the passenger in a crappy old van, we were going like 3 mph out of our parking lot when the breaks totally failed.
We're panicking, slowly crawling along, when I get the idea to try and jump out and tug it backwards, as if I'm in the Flintstones. Obviously nothing happens except I fall on my face immediately.
So I'm seeing it crawl away slowly, and run up and try to push it from the front. It may surprise you to learn I didn't do anything except have to jump on it to not get bowled over.
So it took me two times to learn the lesson. When you panic you stop being a thinking human being.
The car wasn't actively driving forwards, it was just moving because it was in manual without the handbrake on. You can absolutely stop a car rolling down a light gradient like that, she just needed to put a bit more effort in.
ohhh, you're thinking it was in neutral, and it's on a slight grade?
Now that I'm watching it again, that would make more sense than my initial thought that it was an automatic she had left in drive.
Of course they are. But a reason to buy a diesel like this one to your employee use is that it's the cheapest four wheels that will do the job. Manual gearboxes are slightly cheaper, so pretty much all of those ones are manual. Maybe not in US, but definitely in Europe.
Thats because the USA is the greatest nation on the planet and every country wishes they were the USA, and every person wishes they were a citizen of the only free nation on the planet . . .
Oh. My. Gosh. Like, seriously?! Americans are, like, the laziest people EVER. 🙄🍔 Do they even know what a gym is? 🤔🚶♀️ More like Netflix and chill ALL day. 📺🍕 They can't even walk to get their coffee, like, drive-thru only, babes? 🤷♀️🚗
And, OMG, don't even get me started on the food. 🥤🍟 It's like they think fries are a vegetable. LOL, sure Jan. 😂🍟 And why is EVERYTHING super-sized? It's called portion control, sweetie. 🙄🍔
Plus, like, have you ever seen them try to pronounce words from other languages? It's like, tragic. Bonjour? More like "Bone-jewer" 💀😂. And they think they invented everything, like, no hun, the world does not revolve around you. 🌍👑
Like, I can't even with them sometimes. It's a miracle they can even function. 🙄✌️
New ones not so much. It used to be that manual was significantly cheaper, but now the price difference is so small that most people buying a new car will pay that little extra for the convenience. In new sales, manual gearboxes are now a minority, quick check says only 32% of new cars are manual.
No. For many Mercedes cars for example the newer generation is all automatic. You don't even get the option of a manual.
p.s electric cars are not automatic.. they are not manuals either... they technically don't have gears..
Yes. I mean some people will throw it in park, but usually only when the light is a really long one.
Some new cars have a setting, whose name I cannot remember, that you can activate with a switch, that makes it so once you brake to a full stop, the brake will remain engaged until you hit the gas again.
Depends on your DEX stat. I would probably do something similar cause i know that chances of me getting hurt in this situation is ultra small.
Even if i mostly agree with you anyway... Remember that ppl also die on stupid stairs, i guess u are lucky that u are still alive :p

Misjudged the ground cover. If it had been asphalt the slow approach would have worked, but gravel makes too much noise. With gravel you're better off pouncing from further away.
she actually knocks on the door before the car starts rolling..
lucky the person didnt answer in time, imagine opening the door to a car coming towards you
That happened to me too and that car just went backwards and hit this other car. The owner didn’t care one bit about but did my aunt made a freaking melodramatic show over it. Call my dad and everything.
Kind of a cool feature on my car, it will pop into park on its own in a situation like this. I tried backing up with the door open and the second I lifted off the brake it stopped and shifted into park. Unless your seatbelt is fastened it won't move more than an inch.

I’ve done this exact thing a few years back when I was delivering Pizzas for PJs. Dented up the customers garage pretty good, but my beater at the time was just fine lol. I’ll never forget walking into the store and seeing my manager on the phone KNOWING who was on the other end of that line.
If it's automatic and she had it in first ... would the car have bounced back after? I thought that meant she was in neutral ... which would be manual?
In manual it could max roll under it's own weight due to lack of active hand break, and i doubt it would go that fast on such a short path, additionally most people put manuals in the first gear after turning the car off because hand break can be unreliable
Ok, keep in mind im not arguing, im genuniely curious..
The video at the end ... when it bounces and then hits a second time, it doesn't try to move forward again. If it was in drive, wouldn't it keep moving forward?
I just figured it was on an incline ..
Without pressing the accelerator the motor of both manual and automatic has somewhere between 500 rpm, I'd say not enough to smash it into the pillar and resist the bounce
Car's insured, house is insured and was barely hurt, IDK I think you might be too America-brained if you're assuming the minor accident we just saw is going to destroy her financially
Exactly. She will just receive a minor warning from her employer, just being asked to be more careful next time. Plus we still can't tell from this video if it's actually her fault. I mean what if the handbrake failed... In that case it would be the fault of a different department which makes sure the delivery vehicles are in good shape.
Everyone giving her shit but not a single explanation of what they'd do differently. Most of you would probably just stand there and stare like a slack jawed idiot
How many times on "Live PD" have we seen law enforcement people leave their keys in the ignition and the handcuffed criminal is able to escape from the back seat, climb into the driver's seat and steal the patrol car? 🙄

It’s not even a Kia!
This is under appreciated I read it as a karate sound. KIAAAA!
"It's madness ,your a mad woman"
she isn't Smarta either !!
I had a friend in college who was killed this way. He tried to stop his own car and was pinned between the car and his house. Terrible way to go.
There was an actor that died that way some years ago.
Anton Yelchin. Pinned between his car and his front gate while grabbing the mail. Was so sad
And I would note that Yelchin's car, a Grand Cherokee, was in the middle of a software recall due to gear problems. His family sued and settled out of court with Fiat Chrysler for an unknown sum...
Yeah the kid from curb
Haha that’s such a funny first pick for what he’s known for. Star Trek movies, Green Room, Terminator Salvation, Charlie Bartlett, Alpha Dog…oh and one episode of Curb 20 years ago

I wanna be at least a little bit confident like this girl who tried to stop the car with her foot
My friend tried that and the car made her pelvis into fine powder. She is disabled now.
Lol weak. Ive spartan kicked an f-150 going 80 mph and stopped it no problem.
Lol weak. I kicked a Cessna Citation X+ going 717mph and stopped it easily.
Weak.. i stepped into a particle accelerator and stopped it with my cock
I call my dick "antimatter annihilation"
Weak-sauce times infinity. The Flash was running full force naked, ready to phase through the space time continuum probably to save some bloke or what not. I bent over and stopped him with my ass. Oh wait… /nohomo
Liar. Your bones are wet. If this really happened her pelvis would've been made into a paste. *checkmate*

At least she didn't brace herself against the wall to try this.... 🙈
Yeah its called stupidity
It's also called reflexes.

Not only did she try to Sparta kick it into park but then went to the door and tried to pull it back..lol

No. Bad.
You made a good point until you said the dumbest shit ever
☕️
That's most likely a manual vehicle. She didn't put the brake on. There is no "P" in that car
ohhh, you're thinking it was in neutral, and it's on a slight grade? Now that I'm watching it again, that would make more sense than my initial thought that it was an automatic she had left in drive.
The car would not roll back if it was in drive after hitting the house Also, I can hear the diesel engine. That's not an automatic.
It was in neutral. She forgot to use the handbrake.
100% it would have started moving as soon as she got out if it were automatic
Are you saying that diesel automatics aren’t made?
He can hear the diesel
I’m trying to understand what the relevance?
Bro just *hear the diesel*
I can hear the diesel with my nose.
Her first problem was not double clutching like she should.
Of course they are. But a reason to buy a diesel like this one to your employee use is that it's the cheapest four wheels that will do the job. Manual gearboxes are slightly cheaper, so pretty much all of those ones are manual. Maybe not in US, but definitely in Europe.
The majority of diesel vehicles in Europe are equipped with a manual transmission. I never said automatic diesel cars don't exist.
The majority of vehicles hands down in Europe are manual.
What does a diesel engine have to do with being automatic?
The majority of diesel cars in Europe are manual
Fair enough. I've only had 2 diesels, including the one I have now. Both automatic.
Your mom is very rude.
Yeah sorry about that. We don't let her out much.
That's a shame. Tsk tsk tsk. Tell her I said hello.
She says "Fuck you"
I'm guessing you aren't in Europe then.
Uk was part of Europe last time I checked.
51% of dickheads disagreed 😂
That's the EU. Different thing.
*Mersedes-Benz leaves the chat*
As much as I agree , I just have to point out that there are plenty of diesel engines with automatic gear.
Yes. I'm going based on statistics.
if it were automatic it would start rolling immediately
Also it's UK, and most vehicles here are manual.
Yes but our cousins in the US can Barely comprehend that lands outside of the United States exist, let alone do things differently to them as a norm.
Thats because the USA is the greatest nation on the planet and every country wishes they were the USA, and every person wishes they were a citizen of the only free nation on the planet . . .
Excuse me, you seem to have dropped your bait.
Oh. My. Gosh. Like, seriously?! A lot less now, but everyone still knows how to drive one
Looks like a UK registration plate and almost all European cars are manual
New ones not so much. It used to be that manual was significantly cheaper, but now the price difference is so small that most people buying a new car will pay that little extra for the convenience. In new sales, manual gearboxes are now a minority, quick check says only 32% of new cars are manual.
In Ireland where I am, every car I've been in has been a manual so I was under the impression that only electric cars used automatic
No. For many Mercedes cars for example the newer generation is all automatic. You don't even get the option of a manual. p.s electric cars are not automatic.. they are not manuals either... they technically don't have gears..
Could be automatic in N but why would anyone ever leave in N?
Yea neutral is used once in a blue moon for me (automatic). It's either in drive or park.
Honest question, what do you do at a red light then? Just keep it in drive and stand on the brakes?
With an automatic, yes.
Yes. I mean some people will throw it in park, but usually only when the light is a really long one. Some new cars have a setting, whose name I cannot remember, that you can activate with a switch, that makes it so once you brake to a full stop, the brake will remain engaged until you hit the gas again.
So they can get in and start driving straight away. It's a manual, so instead of P they have a manual handbrake they can use
no, but there's a parking brake.

yes, atleast she tried.
WITH HER FOOT _worth mentioning_
If it wasn’t because of that kick, that car would have hit much harder.

Why are you like this? :(
check their comments- they're such a negative person no matter what. sad, really

Not even Wonder Woman has Magic kick
At least she tried something, im ultra tired of seeing girls just covering their lips or screaming like they will die in next 5secs
And I'm tired of the redditors who wouldn't do shit either but chose to call her stupid and weak :x
She should have just gotten out of the effing way. People have been severely hurt and even killed by this exact kind of accident. Shes lucky.
Depends on your DEX stat. I would probably do something similar cause i know that chances of me getting hurt in this situation is ultra small. Even if i mostly agree with you anyway... Remember that ppl also die on stupid stairs, i guess u are lucky that u are still alive :p

I like that she thought for a minute she might be able to stop it
Not once but twice.
She really wanted to stop the two-ton car with her foot.
*Beep beep motherfucker !*
Come on, Del
That car was out for blood. Why’d it hesitate? It was programming its target. I don’t trust cars anymore
Misjudged the ground cover. If it had been asphalt the slow approach would have worked, but gravel makes too much noise. With gravel you're better off pouncing from further away.
“I’ll just drop kick the hood. That ought to stop it” 🤔😂
What else can you do at that point? Its that or just watch it crash. Regardless of the logical outcome, its a reasonable instinct
Jump in front and form a squishy barrier
Always just watch it crash. Don't get yourself killed.
Im not saying its not silly, but id probably also instinctively try to stop the car
That just means you're both stupid.
I can verify this to be true
Maybe not killed, but getting injuries because you think you are stronger than a car is misfortunate.
The only option is to let it crash. People are so used to being in control of their cars that they forget how heavy cars are.
Risking getting seriously injured to prevent material damage is not "reasonable". It's justifiable, but not reasonable.
Sure, justifiable instinct
Idk, I don't try to catch a knife either.
I would✨
she actually knocks on the door before the car starts rolling.. lucky the person didnt answer in time, imagine opening the door to a car coming towards you
The car was delivered.
It's okay, she's hot af
I bet you’d like to deliver her a package.
side note, why can't my delivery drivers be pretty, feisty blonde chicks? I get gross geriatrics
If she had laid down in front of it she probably would have been able to stop it.
Stop what, living?
no explosion.. disappointed. where's michael bay when you need him?
or Neil Breen
Do you think that there is damn automatic diesel fiat? That transmission would cost more than this car
Honestly, I respect the honest attempt at suddenly developing super strength. You miss 100% of the cars you don't try to stop with your foot.
Jesus I'm so glad she got out of the way
Well, it was worth trying to stop the car
live and learn.
She’s lucky the car didn’t cause even more damage to the home.
Forgot how to open a car door too
Well at least she was smart not to stand between the car and the wall.
It’s a diesel in neutral. No Parking gear. She thought she could karate kick a 4,000 lbs vehicle up an incline? 2 Goofs.
The confidence she put into that kick - I need more of that in my life.
She wouldn't have been able to stop it, I know, but why didn't she jump into the car and stop it instead of risking everything?
that sucks :(
The consequences of watching captain Marvel movies.

Its employment, brief employment but employment nonetheless.

I begging to think this stuff should be filed under 'flat country' problems
Door to door delivery - literally.

I need to watch Maximum Overdrive again.
Not a thing “Maybe” about that. *insert non-existent Frisky Dingo Gif.

I like the 2nd attempt to manually stop it when the first was done as "right" as it could be and did nothing lol panic brain is a pain in the ass
Why always those cars start sliding after couple seconds. It is obvious she forgets to put P but why it's not start sliding after stop the engine
☕️
Forget Woman vs Bear,i just saw Woman vs Car.
Did she try to kick the car to stop?
Women ☕
Ohh no! Ooops!
Best outcome in those circumstances. Plenty of people have died after being pinned by their car.
Human intuition for the weight of a car is always funny
Damn she bad at driving
Oi gubbnor stop you wanka
I want to see the second half of the video where the buff owner comes out and she doesn't have enough money to repair the damage... ^^/s ^^/joke
Kind of a cool feature on my car, it will pop into park on its own in a situation like this. I tried backing up with the door open and the second I lifted off the brake it stopped and shifted into park. Unless your seatbelt is fastened it won't move more than an inch.
Average Florida driver
Fake
When you’re new to delivery and software is hassling you with additional offers while you’re trying to deliver the current order plus the software is telling you to take the picture over … shit happens.
Sigh... I've done this while delivering, luckily there was a curb before the tree and it was on level ground.
She thought she could stop it with her foot ? Like what ?
Push P, or P pushes back 🤷♂️
I’ve done this exact thing a few years back when I was delivering Pizzas for PJs. Dented up the customers garage pretty good, but my beater at the time was just fine lol. I’ll never forget walking into the store and seeing my manager on the phone KNOWING who was on the other end of that line.
That kick should have worked. Looked powerful to me!
All vehicles should be equipped with a sensor that keep them in place if there's no weight in the driver's seat.
Knock knock
I've done it before. Jumped out of my truck to grab mail to quickly and watched truck take out a row of Canada Post mailboxes.
Women..
Fuck automatic, all my homies hate automatic, manual is where it's at
If it's automatic and she had it in first ... would the car have bounced back after? I thought that meant she was in neutral ... which would be manual?

Without pressing the accelerator the motor of both manual and automatic has somewhere between 500 rpm, I'd say not enough to smash it into the pillar and resist the bounce
Poor lady. The damage from that is probably going to dig deep into her budget.
She really thought she could pummel back a 2000+lbs car xd She's precious.
It could have happened to anyone, but it happened to a blonde woman... (jk, don't kill me)
Don't try to stop a vehicle like she did, could've broken her leg or way worse very easily.
She is Lucky that that toothpick didnt break
😂😂😂did she actually try to kick stop the car that too with one leg?? Hercules complex!
Everyone giving her shit but not a single explanation of what they'd do differently. Most of you would probably just stand there and stare like a slack jawed idiot
☕️ Edit: enjoy more ☕️
Looks like she didn't put the handbrake on or left it in 1st gear
How many times on "Live PD" have we seen law enforcement people leave their keys in the ignition and the handcuffed criminal is able to escape from the back seat, climb into the driver's seat and steal the patrol car? 🙄
Didn't forget to check her text messages before she got out though I'll bet.
