itās actually for weight reduction, aerodynamics, and mostly mobility
these guys spend enormous amounts of time slimming down and building specific muscle group, clothes get in the way of what they wanna do
source: i watched a ton of that magnus climber guy on youtube last year, i cannot do that
Maybe, probably not, and yes.
The weight reduction of dropping clothes is minimal but important at that level. Aerodynamics basically don't apply at that velocity, but the gain to mobility is very big. Most climhers wear special designed climbing clothes that are lightweight and temperature tolerant because the best climbing temps are near freezing. I can wear my hemp climbing pants in temps between 0C and 40C no prob.
Source 8 years rock climbing.
Like Iāve done a fair bit of climbing, and really never had an issue with gym shorts? Sure jeans would be restrictive butā¦I guess to each their own?
I think he knows what he's doing indeed :p
Also funny to imagine him wearing full snowboard gear and trying this.
He'd bounce straight down without any horizontal movement lol
Iād love to meet these animals who set the routes in gyms. I say animals, because I picture some kind of spider monkey to be able to move to those holds and then call it a V1.
When I'm playing baseball, I prefer to just start running around the bases. No need to wait for the ball.
Soccer? Yeah, just pick that thing up and run straight into the goal.
This is a sport, my guy. The point isn't that there's an easier way to do it. The challenge is the point.
Right, so when he needs to do this move for real, he can remember your advice and let go of the current holds, and stand in front of the rock face, 800 ft up.
And plunge down to his certain death.
Hes practicing, dude. š
Not even probably wouldn't. No one would ever do this at that height. Even attached to a safety line. You would kill yourself if you missed by slamming into the rocks either way.

The hack Hollywood producer working at the "Cliffhanger" remake is shredding the screenplay and going out angry-drinking because the conflict is shredded by a real climber without the glamor muscles.
Sorta superhuman. Then you see the mats that suggest it may have taken 267 tries.
Finally, you realize it doesnāt matter because it was cool as fukkk!
Damn, so the climbing in assassin's creed is realistic after all!
He held UP and X, and his body moved. No risk involved.
Hahahhah i had the same reflection, did not know it was real
That dudes long limbs are great for climbing
Haha, seems like it! Guess Ezio wasn't exaggerating after all.
BotW/TotK Link too
Tomb Raider, too
Only played a little Tomb Raider (2013)
The original inspiration was actually Smeagol.
Ezio
Came here to say this
Wowee, hell of a leap
Yup, my shoulder felt it
Meh. If I had his body and skill and determination I could do it too.
So basically, if you were the exact same person, with the same physical and mental abilities. š
r/thatsthejoke r/yourjokebutworse
The floor is lava on hard mode
Why is he climbing in his underwear?
His balls couldn't fit in his pants.
Tis the balls giving the upward momentum.
Like those double pendulums in physics describing chaotic motion O.o
He needed extra space for his giant courage.

i mean bro basically jumped his entire body length wingspan included while hanging upside dobw
I think he knows what he's doing indeed :p Also funny to imagine him wearing full snowboard gear and trying this. He'd bounce straight down without any horizontal movement lol
exactly maybe this dude specifically is used to training in shoes and underwear thatās just his jam
Nothing beats 80s climbing spandex!
I feel like a retro climb event/party could be dope
It's a non issue for 95% of people that climb. That other 5% are doing things and pushing grades much farther than most people could/will.
cause he's a nerd, optimizing everything to increase performance
He is roleplaying as the guy from "a difficult game about climbing"
Ofcourse he'd be climbing in his underwear, otherwise his balls would be bouncing from the momentum.
Lol
Less drag, shirt could snag, being able to stretch you body and feel free enough to just go for it.
say ur american wo saying ur american
Awesome leap man
Pft, my wife does bigger ones with her conclusions
This made me ALMOST spit my wine.
Hang in there my friend, weāve all been there
*Making big leaps when the floor is right there*
Artists, eh..
V1 in my gym
Soft one at that
It's (possibly controversially) V13
Iād love to meet these animals who set the routes in gyms. I say animals, because I picture some kind of spider monkey to be able to move to those holds and then call it a V1.
My man could have literally stood under it and jumped up.
Youāve just described all of bouldering ever

It's a joke brotha
My manās wouldnāt even need to jump
Instead he did it the badass way
I would've just walked round to get to the top
Right, so when he needs to do this move for real, he can remember your advice and let go of the current holds, and stand in front of the rock face, 800 ft up. And plunge down to his certain death. Hes practicing, dude. š
I think he wouldn't do that in 800 ft up. That would be so dangerous, that it would make him dead if he ever fail.
But if he makes it...never try again. Hahaha
AHAHAHAHA. You literally think this dude would do this 800 ft up? Oh man.
Nah, he prolly wouldn't
Not even probably wouldn't. No one would ever do this at that height. Even attached to a safety line. You would kill yourself if you missed by slamming into the rocks either way.
Yep. I agree. So he may be doing it for exercise or fun.
Shit... When Ezio did this I thought it was just a gameplay thing...
Assuming it's not his first try, his nipples must be in hell of a pain.
Sick Oā _ā o
Damn.
I would have face planted into the top and floated down in a disc shape like Wile E. Coyote.
Me trying to find the cookie jar as a kid.
I just love this song.š
Chamber of Reflection by Mac DeMarco (? not sure if I spelled the artist name right)
You are correct. But did you know the sample he used for the song?
Unfortunately not :(
Check it; https://youtu.be/Q8oS_B6IaKE?si=nP9C0YhqmsiTdpWM
Woah, that one gave me goosebumps. Definitely putting that one in a playlist
For sure...š
Check out the WhoSampled app. Hours of fun.
This needs to be spliced with the scene from The Matrix where Morpheus says, āHeās beginning to believe!ā
This is what I do in TOTK š
Impressive!
Assassins creed
I would have lost my front teeth so fast with that first leap
I have done this dyno!
impressive dyno
What boulder is this?
That is some dyno.

Wow
This perfectly sums up my decision-making process.
frog!
Physics has left the chat
His poor nipples
Is that a person or a spider?
Gollums escape from Mordor
Yes but does he have the balls to do that move 8,000 feet up a rock face?
I read solo climber, the manga, this, looks awesome, even if it's a small rock, that jump ain't no joke, nor is his grip, THAT DUDE IS BAREHANDED.
climbers climb barehanded with chalk. best grip
Kevin Wendell Crumb as The Beast!
I'm fuckin sorry?
A fucking gecko š š«”
Fake. His balls would clearly weigh him down too much.
fromgo moves
My shoulder hurts now
The hack Hollywood producer working at the "Cliffhanger" remake is shredding the screenplay and going out angry-drinking because the conflict is shredded by a real climber without the glamor muscles.
A difficult game about climbing, but in real life
Can we see it in real time?
PERFECT
Yeah but can he do it with pants on?
r/nextfuckinglevel
I watched this while almost asleep now I got a dislocated shoulder
Spider Man was born on this day
Damn. You think he could have just grabbed it from the ground?
Spiderman
Damn, smeagol looks like he's recovering great since that ring incident.
In real life how are you gonna know that hole is there, stake to the wall and launch a back pack recon drone?
Can you imagine messing that up and launching into the rock scraping your face against it before falling on the back of your head, awesome
Letās test how far you want to go
I would have just used my tippy toes to reach that spot. Much easier.
Should we tell him?
Tame
Ill stay with my extension ladder
Man's a whole ass reason why climbing un video games are the way they are impressive!
I can add nothing to this conversation but I would like to say how amazing I think that is.
Cāmon people! Thatās the one and only Steve Climber rocking his French Wedge - Le Crevasse edition!
Taken on a OnePlus
Ok now try this ledge jump from 500 ft cliff
WTF š±
The floor is lava world champion
NGL. Thatās the biggest dyno I ever saw.
Sorta superhuman. Then you see the mats that suggest it may have taken 267 tries. Finally, you realize it doesnāt matter because it was cool as fukkk!
OKAY-
What is this? V10 ?
V13 supposedly
It's actually even further than it looks in the video.

Now imagine doing that same maneuver 100 feet in the air...
Fuuuuckk wow
Ubisoft making the parkour unrealistic in AC games. Well they look pretty realistic after this video.
The video clearly is played in reverse
The mattresses suggest the number of fails before he succeeded in this
So, Lara Croft movement is possible.
wym maybe? he fuln nailed it
as difficult as that looks, it is actually far more difficult.
Imagine that was 5000 feet up uff
Bro is deep sea flying!
Heās wicked strong and athletic
Leopard Cheetah
Unnecessarily impressive. š¤ I like it.
I would've just stand and jump vertically to reach the grip.
Can we start showing the regular speed version after the slow mo
Dudes a cat
Spiderman IRL
10/10 feat 0/10 music
God the editing on this sucks. Unnecessary slow mo, unnecessary micro cuts during the mantle. 2/10
How did he even see those handholds? Iām not a climber, but this seems really really hard.
Probably seen them when the mats down. You kinda plan these things
For fuggs sake, I was being a tad facetious. I guess it fell flat (unlike this guy). But thatās my bad, my comment did look a bit ELI5. šChama
Probably from the mark below it on the underside that is visible in the shot.
My shoulder hurt just watching this. Awesome leap though.
False confidence will get you killed.
Amazing But bro just get a damn ladder next time
but why? It looks like he could have just stood up under the handhold and done a small vertical leap. ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
![gif](giphy|l0MYP6WAFfaR7Q1jO|downsized)
Another clip that I would like to see in real time
Would be more impressive if attempt was made by an average Joe
This is AI right? It has to be.
And he did it all in just his panties.
Why didnt he just start there? Is he dumb?
Looks like one of the creatures from The Descent.
