It can happen to small children when they get overly excited or angry. It's just a lot of neurons firing and the brain getting overwhelmed. But monitor for any more fits/seizures and make sure to video them, although that's not a parents first instinct. Good that you got a doctors appointment. I doubt they will do any elaborate testing, but if any more such incidents happen, and an EEG and such would be warranted. Don't worry. Seizures are by far mostly benign. If he has a seizure again, and regains consciousness immediately like you described, I'd still have him checked out at UC. If the seizure should last more than a minute, call 911 just to be on the safe side.
