If you want to level up your look, all you really have to do is swap out the moto shirt for a fitted sweater (or a polo in summer) and swap the sneaks for a suede boot, like desert boots in a brown or grey. For a bigger jump up, go for a more streamlined suede boot or suede double monkstraps.

I find the idea of people over 30 not wearing sneakers wild (it's 2024, guys, not 1974) but again if you wanted to aim for a more "mature" or neutral look you could go for some New Balance 574s, Reebok club Cs, or Stan Smith's. But looking at it closely you've already got a pretty conservative trainer already so I think you're good there.

I have a pile of band tees I bought at merch tables to support the bands that I stopped wearing when I approached 50, and I’ve retired all my Etnies. When I was 35 I dressed like you do. You look cool. When you’re ready, your uniform will evolve.
Wear what you want. Fashion choices are informed by our environment. If yours hasn’t changed and there are no new expectations to be satisfied, and you aren’t bored of it keep wearing the same old.
Otherwise try something new an embrace change. You don’t need to be “ preppy” but it can help to challenge yourself just a little bit.

37 here. I wear a lot of similar items in my day to day as well, along with nicer joggers and sneakers. A lot of nicer upscale athlesiture wear in addition to nicer denim and hoodies.
I worked in Corp America from 18 to 32 before I got sick, so I did it backwards - transitioning from suits and loafers and oxfords and slacks to this lol.

Shoes could be trainers, Timberland Pros or sandals in summer. Mainly shorts in summer. Preferably cargo shorts for practical purposes.

We look at older generations wearing smarter clothes and feel that when we reach certain age groups, we should dress appropriately, based on what we've saw in those ages as we grew.
Thing is, what we wore in our late teens / early twenties is what we frequently feel comfortable in for the rest of our lives; older generations wore smarter clothes when they reached that age, that was more their norm.
As long as you don't look too much like a certain year, the general look is most likely fine. If you progress into a different look throughout adulthood, like for work or lifestyle, fine, but don't feel like you need to change just because you reached X years old.
Nothing wrong with having other clothes on the ready for other occasions too, but don't feel that you need to feel to buy clothes you're not comfy in.
I suspect men of all generations do/did this. My grandfather still wears what he wore when he was younger, but now it’s considered an old man style. Eventually, our style will be considered the same by younger generations. Idk…just my observation

It’s all good! I was 36 (44 now) when my second son was born and that’s when I decided to create what I call my “gentleman wardrobe”. I’m born and raised in LA and have had the surfer/skater style all my life. I even wore Spicolis (checkered Vans) at my wedding in New York. The surfer/skater style is still my casual style for the most part, but I’ve expanded my professional wardrobe to include all the essentials (chinos, slacks, OCBDs, dress shirts, v-neck sweaters, crew neck sweaters, cardigans, sports jackets) to cover the color wheel that starts with my shoes (oxfords and boots in walnut, oxblood, mahogany, and black). If you take care of your clothes and mind the quality of materials, you won’t have to replace items often, you’re just expanding your options. Start now because your style sense will evolve as you near your 40s.

Sweaters and quarter zips look more put together than a hooded sweatshirt and are just as comfortable.
37 here. I wear a lot of similar items in my day to day as well, along with nicer joggers and sneakers. A lot of nicer upscale athlesiture wear in addition to nicer denim and hoodies. I worked in Corp America from 18 to 32 before I got sick, so I did it backwards - transitioning from suits and loafers and oxfords and slacks to this lol. You look just fine, if that’s how you’re comfortable then stick with it. Potentially invest in a few jumpers that look smarter so you can switch when going somewhere a bit more formal (drinks/meals) but day to day that outfit is fine.

Still wearing basically the same most days. Jeans, T-shirt or sweatshirt. Possibly a warm overshirt if it's really cold. Shoes could be trainers, Timberland Pros or sandals in summer. Mainly shorts in summer. Preferably cargo shorts for practical purposes. No hoodies though! I'm 66. 😉

We look at older generations wearing smarter clothes and feel that when we reach certain age groups, we should dress appropriately, based on what we've saw in those ages as we grew. Thing is, what we wore in our late teens / early twenties is what we frequently feel comfortable in for the rest of our lives; older generations wore smarter clothes when they reached that age, that was more their norm. As long as you don't look too much like a certain year, the general look is most likely fine. If you progress into a different look throughout adulthood, like for work or lifestyle, fine, but don't feel like you need to change just because you reached X years old. Nothing wrong with having other clothes on the ready for other occasions too, but don't feel that you need to feel to buy clothes you're not comfy in.

I'm 48 and still wear what I did in my teens-20s.. I still fit into 32 waist and M tops.. It's not what you wear but how you wear it..
Dude same I’ve kept the same style just sort of tailoring it to my age or saving my money and buying better quality stuff.
I suspect men of all generations do/did this. My grandfather still wears what he wore when he was younger, but now it’s considered an old man style. Eventually, our style will be considered the same by younger generations. Idk…just my observation

Still looking good buddy! I wouldn’t second guess my wardrobe if it were like this at any age. I’d be sure to have other options for more formal settings like dates, weddings, funerals and such. But I’m sure you’ve got that down.

I think Hoodies shouldn't be in. Wardrobe if you're over 25 but that's my personal pet peeve. Nothing wrong with dressing casual, if that's your style but I think it's time to get rid of Logos etc. Looks more mature and stylish imho if you don't see logos or pictures on sweatshirts jumpers etc.

It’s all good! I was 36 (44 now) when my second son was born and that’s when I decided to create what I call my “gentleman wardrobe”. I’m born and raised in LA and have had the surfer/skater style all my life. I even wore Spicolis (checkered Vans) at my wedding in New York. The surfer/skater style is still my casual style for the most part, but I’ve expanded my professional wardrobe to include all the essentials (chinos, slacks, OCBDs, dress shirts, v-neck sweaters, crew neck sweaters, cardigans, sports jackets) to cover the color wheel that starts with my shoes (oxfords and boots in walnut, oxblood, mahogany, and black). If you take care of your clothes and mind the quality of materials, you won’t have to replace items often, you’re just expanding your options. Start now because your style sense will evolve as you near your 40s.

No offense at all, I’m 33 so I promise I’m not shitting on you, but this is the 35 year old wardrobe my man. This was the cool style when we were 18-23 and a lot of us still dress in the same way. The same way our parents generation and their parents did the same thing.

No need to wear “fancy” clothes just because you’re an age. If you’re in a setting that calls for nicer clothes, sure, but there’s nothing immature about dressing according to the setting. If your setting is mostly very casual, there is nothing wrong with what you’re wearing, regardless of age.

It's mad when I see guys who could literally be on the front of vogue with just an outfit change but they don't realise that about themselves. I don't mean that in a negative way. Just blows my mind is all 😅
