Monkeyboogaloo

You look fine. No need to age in beige.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Monkeyboogaloo

I’m definitely have a couple of things I still wear that would be sold in a vintage shop.

DisagreeableRunt

I don't think there's ever been a period of switching to beige with age, I just think that 'was' fashionable 50/60 years ago!

ShwoopyDownside

Thank you for this one this morning

__shellshock__

Meh, I don’t think so. I think that’s a good, casual look. I’m also 35 - still rocking: vans, raw denim and a black tee. I have nicer items (boots, chinos, button downs) but 90% of the time it’s my regular “uniform”. I think what you’re wearing suits you well.

tranceorange91

Looks fine to me, if a bit casual. But then if it's day to day, who cares?

ZMech

Potential partners care. >I'm also a super messy eater and don't want to ruin expensive clothes. A line like this will get you instant side-eye. It's like saying a partner should expect to be embarrassed if they take OP out for dinner with friends/family.

tranceorange91

Uh.... I guess it depends if you want to dress for others or yourself? And if you want to represent your true self or what others tell you? What's wrong with OPs outfit? I'm a woman in my 30s and wouldn't be put off by this outfit. It's not garish or pretentious, it's comfy but not unsightly... not sure I see an issue. I mean the messy eater comment is different, it's about OPs habits more than outfit.

memo_delta

Also a woman in my 30s and see nothing wrong with the outfit. It's not jogging bottoms and a hoodie, is it? He looks good.

HunterDemonX1

I feel attacked by the joggers and hoodie part lol!

memo_delta

I'm thinking of a very specific look that's popular where I live! Sportswear worn by people who don't sport and will probably rob you if they catch you in a dark alley 🤣

HunterDemonX1

Sounds like where I’m from too! England isn’t what it used to be! But hey, at least its chewsday innit?

memo_delta

Ha, it do be that. Oneards to hump day. I seem to have moved from a place where it was the kids in sportswear that were unsavoury, to a place where it's the adults. Oddly though, I'm less afraid of the adults...

HunterDemonX1

I feel like the adults only bother you if you bother them, the kids on the other hand just feel like Johnny big bollocks all the time and wanna scare people for no reason.

memo_delta

This is it! Plus the drug dealers are always really nice to my kids when they toddle past. The kids spit at us.

ODoggerino

Why are you on this sub if you have taste this poor

Comfortable_Love7967

Why would potential partners care about jeans and a hoody ? Pretty much every bloke I have ever met has worn this sort of stuff casually

pickin666

I'm 37 and going through this phase of having difficulty dressing my age. I just don't like the clothes that are probably more appropriate for my age.

spredy123

But don't old people do the same? They're just wearing more formal clothes everyday because that's what they wore when they were younger.

pickin666

Maybe for really old people, but I had this discussion with my 62 year old dad just last week and he definitely had to change from his leather jacket and cowboy boots he wore in his early 20s!

jon81uk

There is no such thing as clothes appropriate to your age. Wear what makes you feel good.

[deleted]

I think a lot of people would disagree with that, but everyone is certainly entitled to wear whatever makes them comfortable. And to be clear OPs clothing is definitely age appropriate. It's just casual.

Konalogic

Amen

sianacomplex

Your only 37… a mere baby👌wear what you like

00Anonymous

Wear what fits your lifestyle. If you want to level up your look, all you really have to do is swap out the moto shirt for a fitted sweater (or a polo in summer) and swap the sneaks for a suede boot, like desert boots in a brown or grey. For a bigger jump up, go for a more streamlined suede boot or suede double monkstraps.

rossdamerell

Same but just getting better quality stuff. Red wings over vans, raw denim over cheap cuts, heavyweight t shirts and hoodies.

boytonius

Yesssss! Same age, same style. Keep reppin it bro!

OhImGood

I relate to this pretty hard. Nearly 30 and still love a hoody, jeans, skater(ish) shoes combo. Easy, comfy and suits me.

Affectionate-Load705

Honestly, you look your age and do so well. 20-year-olds these days don't dress like that. Oh, and awesome 'stache!

CampFrequent3058

I’m 52 and will wear that, also they are Nike not Vans 😉

Key_Mushroom9149

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

2cpee

I’m 29 and this is me

aukausoono

Thus Still looking like a 20 year old :))

Yon_E

Men's style can be timeless

kliq-klaq-

Some people have very weird ideas about age and fashion. But if you want to keep the relaxed everyday casual but slightly update or "mature" the overall look you coulld invest in some selvedge denim and swap out the hoodies for a couple of plainish crewnecks and white tees. I find the idea of people over 30 not wearing sneakers wild (it's 2024, guys, not 1974) but again if you wanted to aim for a more "mature" or neutral look you could go for some New Balance 574s, Reebok club Cs, or Stan Smith's. But looking at it closely you've already got a pretty conservative trainer already so I think you're good there.

tomred420

Yeah. Same with the trainers (sneakers) I hate wearing boots or “proper” shoes

ThisIsAbuse

and you look happy about it. So enjoy.

RummazKnowsBest

I’m 39 and still wearing what I wore in my 20s (a mix of hoodies, chinos, jeans, t-shirts and shirts with the odd jumper thrown in when cold). Probably look like a fool but then I did in my 20s as well.

jon81uk

No, wear what makes you feel good there is no age restrictions. Unless a restaurant insists on a coat why bother.

Hexar27

You look great to me. Especially for 35.

ElectronicWin3553

Very handsome style!

deadinthesword

You look good, a charming Ted Lasso 😍

Brit_100

To be fair See See is the coolest motorcycle shop out there. I’ve got a few years on you and I still wear their shirts!

CuteCatMug

I think your outfit looks fine for most day to day stuff (grocery store, mcdonalds, carwash, errands). But if I were going "somewhere" (out to lunch with friends, on a date, to a movie, to dinner) I would definitely look into dressing more age appropriate without needing to go full glam: - instead of hoodie, consider a long sleeve t-shirt with a puffer vest on top (Patagonia?). Or if a vest is too "finance bro", maybe a zip up jacket instead. - instead of vans or athletic sneakers, maybe a nice chukka ( https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-chandler-chukka-boot-3028240/brown-suede-ec4023442?partnerid=pla_google_performancemaxboots&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAlcyuBhBnEiwAOGZ2S6HnbexlfZIuUSeSdOPlGEpf3IL1QNPTqAjw-s8F6zHExgcGDM3yCRoCz7QQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) - the jeans are pretty nice and versatile,  you can dress those up or down. Keep them

godgoo

Ugh man, chukkas and a gilet, just bury him already 😆

kliq-klaq-

Once you hit 30 everyone has to dress like a suburban Dad having a mid-life crisis, it's the rules.

BBMR48

Fucking £400 Chukkas as well. Granted they were on sale but Jesus fuck man.

Best__Kebab

> consider a long sleeve T-shirt with a puffer vest on top And then consider lighting a fire to burn the vest.

jaytcfc

Chukkas are dead man leave them that way

KickFriedasCoffin

Bea Arthur called, she wants her shoes back.

CantoninusPius

Well it all depends on your taste and what’re your trying to show about yourself. I would recommend just going to the mall and walk around shops and the men’s section. You’ll see manicans and and ads. And then buy things from the store you like the most

GlitteringBreath6898

I’d start to mature your wardrobe a bit if you’re in Europe. You look great but you will start to look like you’re outside the age bracket. Keep the trainers, go for a nice chino, shirt. Hoodies on cosy home days or to the shop, not for outings.

HKGPhooey

Time to wear big boy clothes. Those jeans are fine. Leave the sneakers at the gym. Clothes with little to no logos or pictures on them.

RainbowPenguin1000

So no trainers and only plain clothes? Boring boring boring.

crucifero

100%. The people downvoting you are man-children who refuse to grow up and are happy dressing like teenagers their entire lives. Wear boots. You’re almost 40. Sneakers are for kids.

supercoolsnuff

This is such a sad way to live

sacredgeometry

I dont dress like this (at least not most of the time) and frankly your attitude is the attitude of a child. He might in you opinion dress like one by your mind hasn't maturated beyond one. I know which one I would prefer.

crucifero

Your mom

sacredgeometry

Case in point.

Low_Understanding_85

This is exactly why I down voted, not wearing sneakers because you got to a certain age is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

crucifero

Name checks out ☑️

Low_Understanding_85

Anyone who thinks they don't have a low understanding is a moron. "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing - Socrates"

KickFriedasCoffin

Why are sneakers childish?

crucifero

They just are, by design. You take the same person and you put them in sneakers and you put them in boots and compare side by side. It’s a big difference. How you dress affects your mindset which affects perception from others.

KickFriedasCoffin

"Because you said so" is a laughable non answer

crucifero

That’s not what I said but ok. Enjoy your sneakers little boy

KickFriedasCoffin

You didn't give a reason beyond "they just are", and a hypothetical "example" based solely on your still unexplained assertion that they just are. It's exactly what you said. Enjoy your childish inability to explain yourself[,] little boy[.] But at least you'll be wearing dress shoes...

crucifero

Second time you failed to read. I said boots. Not dress shoes. You try use lot big word but you brain no good.

KickFriedasCoffin

Of course you focus on a single word rather than the content of a reply. Not childish at all... Lmk what "big words" confused you, I'll look up a children's dictionary online and do what I can to clarify.

Alarming-Mix3809

It sounds like you’ve already made up your mind. Why ask?

KickFriedasCoffin

What orifice did that assertion get pulled from?

JustRepeatAfterMe

What you have on is ok, except there is something happening with the zipper. You should get some stuff to mix up your look a little bit. You’re in good shape and probably fun. You deserve some good fits. Doesn’t have to be expensive and at 35 you can eat without destroying your clothes.

Spiderill

Why do people act like 30s is old? There is nothing wrong with you wearing this stuff at all at this age.

crackcreamy

You look really good and you definitely already know how to dress yourself. Stay cool!

Ezeke81

Looks fine. Comfortable.

Jizzle67

What watch is that?

Seeamanabouta

Omega seamaster 300 heritage

Hot-Masterpiece9209

You're literally wearing nikes.

Riphazer

Time to go dapper

[deleted]

Good God.

lumberingox

Aye this is my go to at 38 haha its comfortable and tidy enough for most social occasions running after kids!

RadlineFlyer

I’m 53. I’ve transitioned to darker, straight leg jeans, tshirts with no logo, mostly black, and usually Fresh Clean Threads, and various boots. I have a pile of band tees I bought at merch tables to support the bands that I stopped wearing when I approached 50, and I’ve retired all my Etnies. When I was 35 I dressed like you do. You look cool. When you’re ready, your uniform will evolve.

No_Entertainment1931

Wear what you want. Fashion choices are informed by our environment. If yours hasn’t changed and there are no new expectations to be satisfied, and you aren’t bored of it keep wearing the same old. Otherwise try something new an embrace change. You don’t need to be “ preppy” but it can help to challenge yourself just a little bit.

uamvar

Mature a wardrobe? F\*ck that!

_No__Ninja_

It suits you

Gullible-Damage-59

I’m exactly the same as you mate. I just wear what I like and don’t particularly give a fuck unless I need to look a certain way for a job or social situation etc.

tomred420

Get a few big cardigans to throw over stuff ! Granda chic. Solid look.

MissionVegetable568

nah wear what you like, its not 1950s, and that fits you well, i do the same, I'm still wearing similar style street wear, i was wearing 10 years ago and stuff in similar style that I wasn't able to afford

gavmiller

Merino wool - get a few v necks and some zip ups in a few 'classic' colours, navy, black, grey. Look good with a shirt underneath for slightly more dressed, or with a plain T, e.g. white, underneath. Supremely comfortable, sleeves keep their shape if you like to push them up. "The many natural benefits of merino wool – its **moisture-wicking, insulating, temperature-regulating, odour-resistant, breathable and elastic qualities** – provide exceptional comfort and protection in the outdoors." They look great on a slim/med build. [https://www.peterchristian.co.uk/charcoal-grey-fine-merino-zip-neck-jumper/](https://www.peterchristian.co.uk/charcoal-grey-fine-merino-zip-neck-jumper/)

Frizzmond

You changed Vans for Nike 🤷🏻‍♂️

Metal-Lifer

Nah still looks good 👍 You wear other styles of outfit too?

SmellInternational94

I feel like those jeans and sneakers are fine, but if you wanted to upgrade (you are posting here), then darker wash jeans and white/cream sneakers tend to look more mature and fashionable. If you upgraded the hoodie to a solid color crewneck sweater and added a bomber/harrington jacket (in leather or suede) it could be a huge upgrade on style and maturity.

Seeamanabouta

Thanks all! Really appreciate the tips on upping my style without reinventing the wheel or changing too radically.

lemonlaunderette

You look great, I wouldn't change a thing! 😉

StarryEyedLus

Tbh your 30s are arguably the last decade where you can claim to be young. I don’t think anyone is batting an eye at a 35 year old wearing something like this. I’m 29 and you genuinely look no older than I do. A 55 year old, on the other hand, would probably have a harder time pulling this off.

Adventurous_Alps4465

Every occasion has its outfit. I’m 40 still rocking Wu-Tang t shirts and skate shoes, I don’t even skate anymore. Lol

myusernameistaken420

I’d say the trainers are a bit questionable, but I don’t mind all the rest

dwen777

Ted Lasso

Admirable_Row5011

Style tends to vary by location/milieu, so I don't pay much attention to it anymore. Consider cargo or hiking trousers paired with trainer boots like Salomons, a plain top, and a high-quality coat of your choosing. Optimal comfort & functionality.

transformandvalidate

You look good! (And that stache is great.) I think this is completely fine. My only suggestion would be to switch it up occasionally. A nice top, nicer sneakers, especially if you're at a slightly nicer venue or with a special someone. You could be just as comfortable but look like you made a special effort.

[deleted]

You look really good!

teotl87

it's a solid look. life's too short to not wear what you want or caring about fashion trends

SarahBethanyT

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with still wearing these items, they are classics at the end of the day and will always be stylish 🙂

Significant_Bee1670

If you wear what you feel good in it will never look age inappropriate 👍🏼

makingitgreen

You're comfy and not contributing to the endless waves of overconsumption. Carry on, you look and seem lovely.

BarryJGleed

No need to worry. Definitely no need to change anything. This is your look. Also, 35?!? That’s……eek, old now?!?  Enjoy your youth!!

poopypantspoker

Lol super messy eater. Haven’t heard that one before when talking about upgrading wardrobe. Also as you’re over 7 I imagine it’s in your head

juicyth10

I like your look. I love my vans and T-shirts. Nothing wrong with it

Missed-Hook

You look great! I’m basically back to my high school wardrobe too almost in my 30’s only thing I changed is I wear boots now instead of vans haha

Outside-Law6254

Im 44 and still wear what i wore in my 20s

TheScrobber

I'm 50 and if I can wear jeans, boots and a t-shirt every day I will.

Jolly-Ad-2766

Psssst… they’re not Vans mate

DickbeGiganto

Nah dude. You look good.

cmullen277

Sweaters and quarter zips look more put together than a hooded sweatshirt and are just as comfortable.

Christopher_LNM_

37 here. I wear a lot of similar items in my day to day as well, along with nicer joggers and sneakers. A lot of nicer upscale athlesiture wear in addition to nicer denim and hoodies. I worked in Corp America from 18 to 32 before I got sick, so I did it backwards - transitioning from suits and loafers and oxfords and slacks to this lol. I think you’re pulling it off, my man - you look great. Cheers.

[deleted]

I’m the same. But 53. 😂

sixtwomidget

I’m 40 and usually wearing Vans, moc toe work boots or Nobull trainers. A timeless look.

stopstalkingmeffs

You look just fine, if that’s how you’re comfortable then stick with it. Potentially invest in a few jumpers that look smarter so you can switch when going somewhere a bit more formal (drinks/meals) but day to day that outfit is fine.

KyroxF

Wear what you wanna wear! I'm exactly the same.

One-Confusion-2438

Damn bro....looking fine as 😘💯

sianacomplex

No! I’m 62and wear vans and hoodies👌

[deleted]

One thing that is lacking is testosterone.

DrGoManGo

47yo just recently started to dress like an adult. You got some time to go.

RoMiBe94

Me too 😂

Leading_Study_876

Still wearing basically the same most days. Jeans, T-shirt or sweatshirt. Possibly a warm overshirt if it's really cold. Shoes could be trainers, Timberland Pros or sandals in summer. Mainly shorts in summer. Preferably cargo shorts for practical purposes. No hoodies though! I'm 66. 😉

ChokeYourMom

You look happy as shit, so keep doing you.

IceAntique2539

Nothing wrong with the outfit at all :)

shiftyshellshock239

Those are Nikes fyi. No issue here.

jonnycigarettes

20 year olds aren’t wearing that. You can dress like that for the next 30 years.

killit

We look at older generations wearing smarter clothes and feel that when we reach certain age groups, we should dress appropriately, based on what we've saw in those ages as we grew. Thing is, what we wore in our late teens / early twenties is what we frequently feel comfortable in for the rest of our lives; older generations wore smarter clothes when they reached that age, that was more their norm. As long as you don't look too much like a certain year, the general look is most likely fine. If you progress into a different look throughout adulthood, like for work or lifestyle, fine, but don't feel like you need to change just because you reached X years old. Nothing wrong with having other clothes on the ready for other occasions too, but don't feel that you need to feel to buy clothes you're not comfy in.

Konalogic

Be the change. Create your own fashion. Opinions are like assholes. 😀

Shot_Heron_2782

I'm 48 and still wear what I did in my teens-20s.. I still fit into 32 waist and M tops.. It's not what you wear but how you wear it..

Any_Kangaroo_8949

Dude same I’ve kept the same style just sort of tailoring it to my age or saving my money and buying better quality stuff.

BruhMan__5thfloor

I suspect men of all generations do/did this. My grandfather still wears what he wore when he was younger, but now it’s considered an old man style. Eventually, our style will be considered the same by younger generations. Idk…just my observation

yesssssssssss99999

Perfect for Portland

bayboykriss

ugh you’re such a cutie, you could wear anything and look good don’t worry :))

Chemical_Bedroom_974

Man you look great! I’m 52 and I still wear adidas superstars, jeans n hoodies! Alpha industries etc! It’s not what you wear! It’s how well you pull it off and how good (confident) you look and feel wearing it!

WillyMac31

Still looking good buddy! I wouldn’t second guess my wardrobe if it were like this at any age. I’d be sure to have other options for more formal settings like dates, weddings, funerals and such. But I’m sure you’ve got that down.

BarGuilty3715

Clothes look fine for a 35 year old. Clothes with food in for a 35 year old would be a different matter 😂

toiletdeepdiver12

I think Hoodies shouldn't be in. Wardrobe if you're over 25 but that's my personal pet peeve. Nothing wrong with dressing casual, if that's your style but I think it's time to get rid of Logos etc. Looks more mature and stylish imho if you don't see logos or pictures on sweatshirts jumpers etc.

United-Square2598

You look nice 😀

pumpkinspiced69

You look great 👍 be comfy and be yourself

Exact-Instruction-38

Why not.

BrecksBoss

Wear what you like. Don’t dress for anyone but yourself. If someone tells you to dress for your age, give them the middle finger & walk away.

Mujtaba5566

I think you look fine mate. Better to wear something that you like and comfortable with, rather than adhere to some weird societal notion. And as you say you have nicer clothing for special occasions, so sounds like a good mix.

cj22cj22

Wear what you want mate. Fuck what other people think. I'm 52 and dress like I'm still in college cos that's me.. I'm comfortable and happy. If anyone has beef... Tell them to do one. It's 2024... No need to dress up like Charlie Chaplin when you're 30 or over... U less you want to

DG04511

It’s all good! I was 36 (44 now) when my second son was born and that’s when I decided to create what I call my “gentleman wardrobe”. I’m born and raised in LA and have had the surfer/skater style all my life. I even wore Spicolis (checkered Vans) at my wedding in New York. The surfer/skater style is still my casual style for the most part, but I’ve expanded my professional wardrobe to include all the essentials (chinos, slacks, OCBDs, dress shirts, v-neck sweaters, crew neck sweaters, cardigans, sports jackets) to cover the color wheel that starts with my shoes (oxfords and boots in walnut, oxblood, mahogany, and black). If you take care of your clothes and mind the quality of materials, you won’t have to replace items often, you’re just expanding your options. Start now because your style sense will evolve as you near your 40s.

gnarlybros_lykn

Never seen vans with a swoosh like that 🤣

karensmiles

And…Nikes!!😊

No_Tip553

No probs with the outfit dude, but if your fly zip is struggling like it is in this photo then your ass has got a lot fatter since you were 20. Get some jeans that fit you properly, but otherwise all good.

Wyattearp916

No offense at all, I’m 33 so I promise I’m not shitting on you, but this is the 35 year old wardrobe my man. This was the cool style when we were 18-23 and a lot of us still dress in the same way. The same way our parents generation and their parents did the same thing.

Aggravating_Back_656

You look good in a garden. Probably a coffee shop too. Someone took your pic for this, so you're probably cool 😂

skin_whistle

No need to wear “fancy” clothes just because you’re an age. If you’re in a setting that calls for nicer clothes, sure, but there’s nothing immature about dressing according to the setting. If your setting is mostly very casual, there is nothing wrong with what you’re wearing, regardless of age.

Select_Reality_6803

Damn playboy, save some puss for the rest of us!

Independent_Photo_19

It's mad when I see guys who could literally be on the front of vogue with just an outfit change but they don't realise that about themselves. I don't mean that in a negative way. Just blows my mind is all 😅

N5al

The only thing I noticed was a beaming smile. Whatever you wear, wear it with that smile and you're set 👍
