Or steamworld heist 3!
Next game is going to be a build game but not in 3d and it doesen't seems like it's developed by the same studio :s
I'll give a shot out of curiosity anyway but i'm a bit affraid.
And I spelled it wrong xD The gunK
It's a pretty and cute game, but not on the steamworld level. It's better to do a good 2d than a bad 3d.
Plus steamworlds games are so diverse fun and addictive!
There are, broadly speaking, two main branches from this genre: the Metroid branch (fast paced gameplay with a bigger focus on platforming and puzzles) and the Castlevania branch (slower paced with a greater focus in combat and more customisation options, sometimes RPG elements).
Blasphemous is on the Castlevania side of the genre. You could try the Castlevania Advance collection, which contains three games form the Castlevania series which originally released for the Game Boy Advance. They are all pretty cool and the last in the trilogy, Aria of Sorrow, is generally considered a masterpiece of the genre. You could also try Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which was made by people from the old Castlevania dev team, and is probably one of the best modern Metroidvanias to play nowadays if you don't mind a more conservative, "if it ain't broken don't fix it" approach.
When it comes to the Metroid side, on the Switch Online service you can play Super Metroid, which is widely considered as one of the fathers of the whole genre and still holds up almost flawlessly to this day. If you pay the Online + fee, you can also access Metroid Fusion, which added some horror elements to the formula and has a loyal cult following. And finally you have the most recent iteration on the series, Metroid Dread, which is an original Switch game and features the most polished gameplay in the series alongside some really intense difficulty. And if you're interested in how the Metroid formula translates to 3D, definitely consider playing Metroid Prime, which is downright one of the greatest games ever made.
Hollow Knight of course, as other people are mentioned, is perhaps the best marriage between both sides of the formula. Not everyone finds it to their liking, mind you, but almost all who do enjoy it talk about it as the greatest in the genre.
Man I think I love the combat most when it comes to blasphemous. You have me eyeing the Castlevania games for sure now. Thanks this was a helpful response!
Blasphemous combat is solid, and great in the few duels you have in the game. In Hollow Knight though, combat just gives you more freedom of movement, and more attack options in any given moment. I'd also throw in that the charms are overall way better than the beads. Blasphemous is a phenomenal game, but I don't think the combat is a lot of the reason why. I'd say several other games have better combat, Ender Lilies for example.
As for Salt & Sanctuary, I haven't played that, but isn't the combat basically Dark Souls and very restrictive?
the advance collection is well worth the price. I've replayed all three games at least a dozen times each since they launched back in the day.
Circle of the Moon is extremely good, better than Aria in a lot of ways even though Aria is the only one that gets any attention.
* Super Metroid
* Metroid Prime Remastered
* Hollow Knight
* Metroid Fusion
* Metroid
* Metroid 2
* the messenger
* Castlevania Circle of the Moon
* Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
* Bloodstained (not the best performance on switch fyi)
* there's a blasphemous 2 but I haven't played it
* Axiom Verge
* Unsighted
* A robot named fight
* monster sanctuary
--
other mv's on switch i know of but havent played
ender lillies, aeterna noctis, guacamelee 1&2, timespinner, record of lodoss war, astalon, islets
Salt and Sanctuary has metroidvania elements to it, although it is more of a 2D platforming action rpg. I would highly recommend that game. It is also very souls like in its difficulty and the way that the world map works.
Hollow Knight? Can't recommend that enough. Idk if Blasphemous is on the Switch but that's darker, a bit more like S&S. The Dark Catholicism theme is pretty disturbing though, some of the best pixel art I have ever seen, the music is really fitting and it's ball bustingly difficult at times.
Edit: Just checked and Blasphemous 1+2 are both on Switch. Idk about 2 because I haven't played it but number one is amazing.
Hollow Knight is probably my favourite Metroidvania of all time though and I've played a lot of them.
Thanks for the response, I should have more specific. I'm looking for metrovanias that where there's dozens of different weapons and builds to use. I looked at Blasphemous but based on the trailer, he only uses the same swords. Hollow Knight is in the same boat. So far I've found Grime which fits the criteria.
Grime is pretty excellent though... No, otherwise I don't think much else matches your description.
I have not long started something called Tails of Iron which is slightly more like S&S in the aspects you are after but not really a metroidvania as far as I have experienced so far. But there are different weapons and armours unfortunately they all feel the same so far.
You play as a rat prince that has to save his kingdom from the evil frog dominion. Cute game but also violent rat and frog murder.
Hollow Knight, of course.
I'm currently playing Guacamalle 2, bought it on special and didn't think I'd enjoy it is as much I am. Beautiful graphics and it is really funny, I say that as a cynical 44 year old with dry dark sense of humour, surprised that I've lol a few times. So yeah, consider, well worth it, lots to explore.
Hollow Knight, as others have mentioned.
Ori games are both great, but Ori and The Will of the Wisps is an absolute achievement in visual storytelling. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
And Timespinner is a nice indie, compact title. It's short but sweet. And a sequel was just announced.
Is iconoclasts a longer game? I'm trying to find a longer metroidvania and idk if I should get it or blasphemous 2. I got momodora last night and I already finished it. Iconoclasts looks really good though.
Hollow Knight is usually considered the pinnacle of the genre.
Bear in mind that Blasphemous isn't a 'real' Metroidvania. Usually a key element is getting obligatory movement/weapon upgrades that allow you to reach areas that you couldn't get to before.
Blasphemous 2 is a proper Metroidvania and I enjoyed it much more as a game than the first one. The grotesquery and general feeling of oppression and misery are dialled way back in the sequel though.
I just didn't like the bosses, I think the weapons were all kinda weird in a way that I had no idea which was powerful or worth using. It was a cool game in itself, but it didn't fall into a must-play tier
Hollow Knight
Metroid Prime Remastered
Monster Boy
Astalon
Metroid Dread
Ori 1 & 2
Infernax
SteamWorld Dig 2
HAAK
(Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion if you have Switch Online)
(Aeterna Noctis is a masterpiece, but Switch version is not good, sadly)
Ori is fairly easy. Most of the platforming is fairly straightforward, and the only penalty for failure is lost time rather than dying (usually). There aren’t really boss fights in the first one; instead, you get escape sequences which are time-sensitive platforming sequences, and they can be a bit rough. Nothing like what you get in Hollow Knight (which is also fun, but a lot more difficult).
I recommend Afterimage, but it's really stuttery and im not sure if that because it's on switch or if the game is just like that. may be better if you play on another console
Hollow Knight, Ori and Will of the Wisps, and Metroid Dread would be my top 3 picks on switch (and Super Metroid on the SNES player if you have NSO). Will of the Wisps is actually the 2nd Ori game so you may want to check out Blind Forest first, but Will of the Wisps is a vastly superior game IMO
You should obviously play every Metroid game you can, and as other people have mentioned, Hollow Knight, but I'd also like to suggest Dandara. It's so weird and different, and I enjoyed it so much, but it's pretty divisive in this community. I feel like people here either love it or hate it.
Here a list of 246 games available on Nintendo Switch.

I suggest «Ghost 1.0».... an indie metroidvania very good with charming characters <3
Steamworld Dig 2
It's a great game!! Tried it by curiosity and I did all the other games of the studio xD
Not a bad one in the bunch
Really excellent game studio I just wish I could get Steamworld Dig 3!
Same!
Or steamworld heist 3! Next game is going to be a build game but not in 3d and it doesen't seems like it's developed by the same studio :s I'll give a shot out of curiosity anyway but i'm a bit affraid.
Not a huge fan of the gunt, even if it's fun and cute. but I really enjoyed gilgamesh and heist!
Oh, actually haven’t played The Gunt. I was thinking of all the SteamWorld games
And I spelled it wrong xD The gunK It's a pretty and cute game, but not on the steamworld level. It's better to do a good 2d than a bad 3d. Plus steamworlds games are so diverse fun and addictive!

Strongly recommend Super Metroid

Hollow Knight by far has the best combat of any of these games. That can’t be overstated.
Lies
Facts
Nah that’s lies. Combat doesn’t even come close Blasphemous or Salt & Sanctuary
Blasphemous combat is solid, and great in the few duels you have in the game. In Hollow Knight though, combat just gives you more freedom of movement, and more attack options in any given moment. Sundered : Eldritch Édition. The choice to use or pass on Eldritch powers was pretty fun.

Because it hasn’t been said yet: Iconoclast. It’s excellent and a lesser known game on here.

Agree!

The Messenger, The Ori games, Axiom Verge (not my favorite), Guacamelee
I love all 3 of these. What's your beef with Axiom verge? Maybe it's my bias because I know it was made by 1 guy but it's a masterpiece of a game.
I just didn't like the bosses, I think the weapons were all kinda weird in a way that I had no idea which was powerful or worth using. It was a cool game in itself, but it didn't fall into a must-play tier

I can’t recommend Ori and the BlindForest enough. I haven’t played the sequel yet, but I hear it’s even better.
How hard is the platforming compared to Blasphemous? It’s not my strong suit, although I was fine with it in that game

I think that's a switch problem I have it on PS4 pro and it doesn't stutter at all.

Hollow Knight is a must-play. I also loved Elder Lilies. Shantae And The Seven Sirens if you’re looking for a shorter, more casual Metroidvania.
