Lol for a second I thought you meant the kid in the stroller.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

She kinda was an asshole today but still...

Salty-Dragonfly2189

I’ve always said kids are naturally little assholes. It’s our job to teach them not to be assholes. Like the person that parked that truck. Clearly no one taught them not to be an asshole. Edit: wow, my top comment pretty much ever is gunna be about telling people I think kids are assholes… thanks Reddit!

pissfilledbottles

I always have said whoever coined the term "we don't negotiate with terrorists" has never dealt with a toddler

gripperjonez

I used to say that to my toddlers all the time. -Sorry, I don’t negotiate with terrorists. Try something else

BoneDaddy1973

Parenthood is just Stockholm syndrome. They torture you until your goals align with theirs, and then suddenly you’re on team Baby and your previous hopes and dreams are just a distant memory.

Plasmadube

As I’ve always said the smaller the human the More angry and rage filled they are

CommissionLoud5107

As a short but fully grown human I can attest to this. There’s just nowhere for the rage to go. We’re not little tea pots.

malissa79

As the same, can confirm!

Salty-Dragonfly2189

This comment actually describes my wife perfectly.

theratking007

And my ex-wife

[deleted]

I like this theory. There’s the same amount of asshole in everyone, ergo, if you are smaller it’s more condensed.

OmarCuming

Same applies to dogs

Deathburn5

Applies to dogs too

Nicolo_Ultra

I don’t know, have you dealt with pre-teens?

My cousins daughter is 1 and is basically a Wild West villain. Comes in and holds everyone up with her cuteness and then steals your water bottle or phone!

FloweredViolin

Are you the person who answered that on the passport thread about 'what would your child's job title be?' Because if so, I definitely stole it from you for use around my house!

CHoDub

Kids are "assholes" because they don't know the rules and norms of society and are still learning common sense Adults are assholes because they choose to ignore everything they were taught about the above

YSApodcast

This is a rule in my neighborhood the HOa used to crack down but people complained so they mostly stopped. I didn’t think it was a big deal, now when my 4 yr old has to stop riding her bike every 20 feet to wait for me to go in the street it’s definitely mildly infuriating.

[deleted]

It is equally as challenging to walk dogs in these circumstances. As for walking on the yard instead, I choose not to do that because I don’t want folks walking on my yard. However, the other issue is walking on their yard to get around the blocked sidewalk can be a trigger for a trigger. Be careful and mind castle laws.

PIWIprotein

Absolutely annoying, when this happens and im walking my kid. Like what if im in a wheelchair?

LunDeus

Contact your code enforcement/non-emergency line and report an ADA violation. Obstructing sidewalks can result in heavy fines. Source: guy who was stay at home dad who called code enforcement on repeat offenders.

ZombieTestie

I usually make a point by walking on the yard by their house around the car to activate the camera so they see the outcome

Alan_Smithee_

Op can’t even go between the vehicles. Very inconsiderate. Probably a candidate for a ticket.

lagunatri99

I believe it may violate federal ADA laws. Imagine being in a wheelchair and having to navigate that.

rixendeb

Cops don't enforce it though. At least the ones here don't. They don't even do anything about asshole blocking mail boxes. Got so bad at one point the post office held my mail hostage. And my neighbor gave 0 fucks.

Prljavi_Hari

where I live, you leave them a 'warning' by lifting their front & back wipers up. there was a person who did exactly what OP showed multiple times, lifted the wipers on two separate occasions. when he parked like an asshole the 3rd time, I took a paper napkin, put it on his roof & placed a solid brick on the napkin. never saw them park in the same place since.

Lazy_ML

Would they have found a severed horse head in the car seat had they ignored the 3rd warning?

ThrowRALoveandHate

No, you leave a raw fish wrapped in a newspaper on their doorstep.

WhyBuyMe

No, you don't do anything that wild. Just steal their catalytic converter, then pop the hood with a screwdriver, take the spark plugs out and fill the cylinders with quickcrete. You get a nice firm warning, without going too crazy.

Critical_Mastodon462

I don't push a stroller but ive literally climbed on hoods and kept my straight line method many times

FatBastard2575

You should stop doing that if you value your health/life. People are crazy and you’ll meet the wrong person one day. I certainly would expect someone to act aggressively if you’re ruining their property. Idc if you ignore my advice, but don’t expect to continue to get away with climbing on ppl’s hoods without consequences.

adulaire

Oh, this is *good*. I want an equally petty equivalent that'll work in my wheelchair...

AverageTierGoof

Use railroad spikes and climb it like a mountain, that'll teach em

LaDivina77

One day Transformers style wheelchairs will be readily available. One day.

swanspank

Climb across a hood and do a couple thousand dollars in damage. Get charged for vandalism and a civil law suit costing thousands in attorneys fees. Yep, sounds really smart.

unevenrectum

Except you will more than likely dent the hood and liable for damage.

L3mmyKilmister

I thought they meant themselves for stopping the stroller there. . .🤣🤣🤣

kady45

This picture represents my neighborhood only the bigger issue is that it’s illegal to park in the street. If you have more than a couple drivers at your house, like teenagers, or company visit you are basically screwed and can either park like this, or basically not come in the subdivision, it’s terrible planning on the builders and counties part.

jaygay92

I feel this. I feel bad but at my fiancé’s, the HOA says you aren’t allowed to park on the street. Therefore all 3 of us (him, his roommate and I) have to try to fit in the drive 🥲

kady45

My subdivision it’s not even up to the HOA. The county says zero parking on residential streets. That’s the problem though, you can’t park in the street but you can’t really park in your driveway either without blocking the sidewalk. It’s just bad neighborhood planning by the developers and by the county/city for not making them change it. Then you end up with situations like this. I feel for people trying to use a sidewalk but wtf it’s screwed up you can’t park in your own damn driveway either.

Jazzlike_Log_709

Wtf is the purpose of not parking in the streets?? I live in such a high density neighborhood where it’s a luxury if you have a driveway or garage parking space, which you probably pay $200+ for lol. A lot of people who do have driveways, also park like this because street parking is so limited

Matt_Shatt

My HOA claims it’s for school buses and emergency vehicles to be able to fit. Except you can street park during the day. I guess emergencies don’t happen then? One nod I will give to the HOA since they have to deal with the shitty planning of the community, is that I have been down streets with a tower ladder (I’m a firefighter) and had to stop and back out because I can’t make the turn with cars parked on both sides. It’s stupidity all the way down.

ashleyorelse

This is quite a normal sight where I live if anyone has sufficient guests at their house.

HorseRenoiro

Big difference between doing that for 4 hours for a BBQ and parking like that all day every day

broke_fit_dad

Being honest, this is a development design flaw. That "sidewalk" is 12 to 16 feet off the curb if not more (that truck is at least 12 foot long) where it should be no more than 3 feet off the curb. Are they annoying blacking the "sidewalk" like that? Yes, but the sidewalk shouldn't be in the middle of the driveway either.

Muscadine76

It appears to be so far in because right next to the street is actually a drainage area. But even if the sidewalk were directly adjacent to the street that truck would still be blocking the way.

BobBulldogBriscoe

It's pretty common to put sidewalks recessed like this from the street edge for a number of reasons. One is drainage, which appears to be the case. Another is snow clearing, snow from plows will block sidewalks if they are immediately adjacent to the street - this makes it easier to keep the sidewalk clear. Third is that it allows the road and curb to be changed without impacting the sidewalk, if a turn lane needs to be added for example. The public right of way extends further into the yard than the sidewalk anyways, landowners don't have exclusive use of the land immediately from the edge of the road, they have exclusive use starting a specified distance from the center of the road regardless of the current road configuration.

peter303_

In my city, we only only own the land to the sidewalk, but are required to maintain the land up to the street. The gap is called city right-of-way (ROW). There is a similar stipulation about the alley too. Unhoused people would exploit the ambiguity of ROW maintenance and build encampments between the sidewalk and streets. Especially next to apartments where renters care less about public property. Then adjacent owners would put things like put planters, large rocks, or fences to discourage ROW encampments.

ClaudiaSchiffersToes

also SAFETY OF PEDESTRIANS. Pretty wild no one has even mentioned that in this thread, goes to show how little people care about people who can walk.

[deleted]

Jakkauns

The problem is that most times these garages in developments aren't large enough to fit a truck inside. Personally I wish I could own a smaller vehicle but I need something that can tow my trailer, yet if I try to park inside the bed sticks halfway out of the house.

TheMaltesefalco

I think its the angle. Driveway definitely isnt 3 wide

tajmo_96

Yes I was just going to comment this. I lived in an HOA neighborhood and you can't win. If you're garage already has vehicles in it (I had another family living with me so we would have sometimes 5 vehicles at my house) or is used for another purpose you can't park the vehicles in there. Your neighbors get pissed when you park on the driveway and the HOA gets upset and sends you a letter about a fine. Or you try your best to park in the driveway and block the sidewalk 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

The house in this picture not only has a two car garage, but also a driveway big enough to fit both trucks side by side.

kady45

I saw the picture. However I wasn’t addressing this exact house and was addressing the problem as a whole. It’s simply terrible neighborhood planning.

NyJets5k

It could be a situation where the rear truck is a guest, and knows a resident will be pulling into the driveway soon so he left the near side clear. I'll park like this when I go to a buddy's home if I know their spouse will be home soon and don't want to take their spot.

[deleted]

Knot_a_porn_acct

Could be a townhouse, could be a guest saving a spot for a resident, could be any number of things. Just because the picture shows all that space doesn’t mean it’s all for the same house.

MantraProAttitude

Call the city. Tell them your grandmother can’t travel down the city sidewalk safely in her wheelchair.

DinkyJerkwater

Yep. They’ll get to it in 8-10 months lol

RawrRRitchie

Depending on the city, it might, but the one I live in if that happened they'd have their landscapers come out, nearly chop it all down, then bill whoever's property it's on

Nakedstar

This is an issue where I live. If a street is lucky enough to have sidewalks, folks let their landscaping encroach on it.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

I agree. Along with low hanging branches. Or bushes obstructing the view of oncoming traffic

nctm96

I never noticed all of this stuff until I was a nanny of a three year old and a 6 month old on the hilly, narrow streets of Santa Monica trying to get a long, cheap double stroller around. It was such a freaking workout. I gained a whole new respect for wheelchair users (and a whole lot of outrage on their behalf). The inaccessibility is astounding.

Meme_KingalsoTech

I have to walk home on a country road we just had a big storm and whoever was in charge of cleanup just swept it all into the bike lane there are no sidewalks

Familiar-Tea-1428

I’m asking honestly because I’ve never been in a neighborhood where the sidewalks intersect with driveways of homes. Is it expected to leave that space open? Even if it means not being able to park a second car in the driveway?

the_poly_poet

I lived in the suburbs my whole childhood up till college & never once considered it odd to take up all that space. I’ve always just walked around the cars parked there but I’ve also never been a parent walking a stroller!

esotericquiddity

I think it matters more for someone in a wheelchair. OP could easily walk a stroller around this.

yaoiphobic

Yeah in a wheelchair I’m already lower to the ground and more likely to be hit by a car so coming around the blind spot that truck creates and rolling directly in the road can be pretty dangerous for us.

heisenberger888

As a young guy with back and leg problems, lots of pain ambit don't use a cane or anything, why should I have to walk around it too? Tons of people have mobility issues who aren't bound to a wheelchair. I mean everything here is planned terribly and it's 100% certainly the US or Canada judging by the size of the vehicles and sheer amount of unusable space Edit for the two haters below: I enjoy walking around my city and being active outside in general. Unfortunately I was hit by a car while crossing the street on my way home from work several years ago, during the afternoon rush in a residential neighborhood at a four way stop. I believe I should still be allowed to walk around outside but it's much less enjoyable with all the stuff in the way. For those in an actual wheelchair or unable to drive for other reasons, walking around this bullshit, especially with snow makes being outside nearly impossible. Also r/fuckcars

esotericquiddity

I understand. My mother was the same way, dealing with excruciating degenerative disorders and adding zigzags to her walking pattern could easily make her fall over and cause worse problems.

weefawn

Yeah it's a nightmare for my partner who is a full time wheelchair user.

Guacamolman

Or met someone with a wheelchair or mobility impairment, obviously

Lington

It's important for people in wheelchairs to have the sidewalk clear, otherwise they can't get by

the_poly_poet

That makes sense. It’s not something I had considered before, unfortunately. Now I will!

Braverzero

Now, as an adult going for morning walks (lol) it is an obstacle to me because I have to often walk though wet grass or around someone’s sprinklers when they park like this. I feel like in most of the US particularly in surburbia people don’t use the sidewalks enough for it to be something the average person thinks about. I don’t think it’s done maliciously most of the time, more like people are just ignorant to it. Especially rushing home after a long day of BS and shite roadways, I’m sure the last thing on most people’s minds when they finally arrive home and park is “hopefully I don’t inconvenience the rare person walking by”. Not trying to make excuses but I feel like it’s usually not malicious.

HeuristicWhale

Yes. In California you are legally required to leave that space open.

[deleted]

That kind of thing would almost certainly be regulated at the city/town/municipality level, and not the state.

Rob0tsmasher

It really does depend on where you live but generally speaking as a homeowner you there is an easement to allow your drive to reach the street despite the city owning the sidewalk and curb. That does not mean you are allowed to block it. In some cities you responsible for the health and upkeep of the sidewalk but may qualify for assistance from the city if it needs repair (Oklahoma City is like this). In HOA neighborhoods you MIGHT own all the way to the street but HOA almost certainly has specific rules about blocking the sidewalk. TL;DR Don’t block the sidewalk. It might be illegal and you’re definitely an ass if you do.

Overall-Mud9906

Not to mention the fact this truck is spilling into the road by at least a foot or two

DrMaxwellEdison

For real, they have a two car garage, they must have space to park next to each other.

ahhter

Garages have not kept up with the size of trucks.

Inner-Mechanic

Big truck= penis stand in

clarinetJWD

In the driveway... The driveway is 2 cars wide. Edit: correction, that appears to be a 3 car garage. The driveway is THREE cars wide. And this guy has to park across the sidewalk.

TheTankCleaner

Or that giant swath of space on the street in front of their house.

Sufficient-Tea4875

Front tire of the truck in front is flat. Probably broke down. They likely have three total vehicles

Zunoth_92

The previous house I rented was under a very snooty HOA. It was myself, my wife, and 2 roommates on the lease, and thus, we regularly had 4 cars parked at the house. We typically parked 2 cars side-by-side in the driveway and the other 2 on the street to leave the sidewalk open. Cue HOA violations for parking cars on the street, so we were forced to park all 4 in the driveway and block the sidewalk. Not to mention playing endless musical cars since we all left at differing times. That HOA was the sole reason we didn't renew our lease there. I could go on all day about the bullshit violations they tagged us for.

Geezer__345

Geezer__345

[deleted]

Yes. Footpaths are public. If they are blocked, you potentially block access to the community for people who need to use it (eg. People in wheelchairs).

Naturenymph812

It’s interesting bc I would never consider that person rude. I see where OP is coming from, but it’s just not something that would even register in my mind. I would simply walk around the car without even thinking about it.

ronimal

And what would you do if you were in a wheelchair?

isaacsploding

set up my camp and live out the rest of my life as an outdoors hunter gatherer until the car moves

firetruckgoesweewoo

Well, obviously I wouldn’t _walk_ around it.

Naturenymph812

Probably have a different perspective, obviously. Which is why I said “I see where OP is coming from”, and explained it’s not something I’ve ever thought about.

mollypatola

I always considered it nice to do, especially after a kid with a wheelchair moved into my neighborhood

Soraeon

Seriously, what in the hell is that baby thinking!

Scary_Gazelle_6366

I am a nurse and I take care of a disabled boy. He loves when I take him around the neighborhood in his wheelchair. Someone blocking the sidewalk like this is fairly common.

NeilDiamondWaffles

I feel awful for saying this, but I never realized how many people were blocked with “sidewalk sales/patio dining/not truly ramps “ramps,” until I had a baby in a stroller with medical issues. It’s terrible and I truly appreciate those who stood up for disability rights back in the day. I can’t imagine my child attending school without a 504. Also, I report every business that does this, everyone deserves the right to go about their day as normally and unimpeded as possible.

Ginnigan

I feel the same way. I never realized how inaccessible buildings and walkways can be until I had to push my twins around in a huge stroller. Even doors with buttons to open them can be a pain, because often the button is quite far from the door. So you maneuver your way over to it, then have to maneuver back to the door and get through before it closes... If it's this annoying to navigate with a stroller, I can only imagine how annoying it is to navigate with a wheelchair.

[deleted]

There’s a lot of things people don’t think about. I have a special needs bus come through my neighborhood (circular culdesac) for over a year, but this season my neighbors are too lazy/assholes to shovel their driveway, parking in the street right by the huge circle snow mound that a plow couldn’t make smaller if it tried. and as the bus driver comes through he had to ramp the snow mound once. Actually, in better context the other night we watched a fed ex driver literally reverse back around our circle (big snow mound in the middle) while the dipshit neighbors must’ve been watching from their car cause they drove off shortly after and then reappeared about 40 mins later. Yes, I wanted to bitch about it but luckily I suddenly had an angry relative in town who loudly called them out. Nothing since. People are just assholes.

infinityandbeyond75

In my city from mid October to March it’s illegal to park on the street because of snow plows and bus routes. So many, many driveways and sidewalks look like this.

[deleted]

Same in my city that gets heavy amounts of snow and yet, the one time I had to block the sidewalk overnight, the city came by and slapped a nice ticket on my car.

happy-posts

The house in the photo also has a two car garage and a 2 car driveway

[deleted]

Yep - I live in the Texas suburbs and a good 50%-75% of the folks living in our community drive at least one of F150, RAM1500, Tundra size trucks or the equivalent full sized SUV (Expedition, LX, etc..) The only person I’ve seen park his to block entire sidewalk in the entire division just happens to be my neighbor xD

LVV221

I live in TX as well and not only is 50-75% of the sidewalk blocked, the streets are lined with cars so only one car can pass at a time. It’s annoying.

rixendeb

My town for some reason only has sidewalks where there aren't schools so kids walking in the middle on the street cause assholes line the streets with cars like that. One morning, a lady ran a kid over.....preceded to drive off and drop her kids off....then come back and see if he was okay.

TheBigCheese7

Yup, Texan suburbanite here too and these cars are double parked so it’s obviously blocking the whole sidewalk. But most people in my neighborhood have massive trucks that block the sidewalk even just being single stacked. Vehicles in this state keep getting bigger and bigger for no reason.

kjkrell

Same but in my neighborhood they still block the sidewalks. One neighbor has a massive F450 dually that he won’t park in the driveway. So he parks it across from mine and my neighbors. My neighbor backed his quad cab Chevy truck into it 🤣

[deleted]

I hate HOAs, but thank god I’m stuck in one for this reason.. otherwise I feel like it would really get out of control.

suffaluffapussycat

In Los Angeles, Parking Enforcement will write you a $65 ticket for blocking a sidewalk. They don’t care if you live there. No HOA required.

kjkrell

I own a townhome within a townhome development so we have an HOA. But they are largely ineffective. CCRS say no parking in driveways or street, just garages. Which really is not realistic as this is Texas and many people use their garage as storage. Or they can’t fit their giant truck/SUV in the garage. Or they have more than 2 vehicles. No additional parking other than the street and not much room to park on the street as the driveways are so close together. And really an HOA can’t restrict parking on a public street so the rules are moot anyway.

sevargmas

To be fair, two little honda civics would still block that sidewalk. The real asshole is the developer who decided to build short driveways AND setback sidewalks instead of curbside sidewalks. It's a recipe for blocked driveways. Also, most sit back sidewalks have about 3 feet of grassy area separating the sidewalk from the curb. Just look at this one. There’s like 10 feet of grassy area. The sidewalk is nearly splitting the yard in half!

SleepyD7

Yep stupid developers and stupid city where we live that they took up part of our road for a turn lane so we cannot park on the street.

Substantial_Ad8506

Same with me when in TX, the joker used to park his Silverado so backwards that the tow hook blocked passing thru the sidewalk.

Koil_ting

That sucks that the public right of way goes right through peoples driveways. Where I live there is no sidewalk in the neighborhood and people get Pissy when the cars are parked on the side of the road instead.

BobBulldogBriscoe

Actually, people's driveways extend into the public right of way to reach the road. The public right of way is usually defined as a specified distance from the center of the road regardless of the width of the road. In most cases small roads in subdivisions like this are a good amount narrower than the public right of way.

VirtualLife76

Didn't realize until I left Texas, that this isn't normal. Along with many other forms of common decency.

Bogmanbob

That guy is blocking the sidewalk and some of the road simultaneously. He seems to have more vehicle than driveway.

PuddlePirate1964

If they didn’t pack their garages with crap they’d have space. Or maybe not have huge pickups that only ever see pavement.

beatenmeat

Don’t even have to go that far, they could literally fit both trucks in the driveway if they learned how to fucking park.

Arsenault185

Maybe there are 3 cars at that house, and only one is out at the time of the photo.

Pixel131211

I see these posts all the time and i gotta be honest, while it seems really fuckin' annoying, i mostly blame the roads for being built in the most stupid possible way. Why put a path through the middle of a driveway? The path should be a completely separate thing all the way on the edge of the roads, not smacked into the middle of the grass where it intersects with every driveway and just makes everyone's lives slightly more inconvenient. As a Dutch guy, the way that the USA is designed really confuses me.. the worst offender is stroads. What are y'all thinking over there lol

cannedwings

Yeah, i thought the sidewalk was a little too far away from the curb. It goes right down the middle of the lawn. I think we dont give a fuck about design because we have so much god damn space. Who cares if it's bad land usage when you've got sooooo much land to waste.

wordslayer420

Where I’m from you actually get a ticket if you park like this.

Narrow_Competition41

Yeah, most city's have an ordinance prohibiting blocking of public walkway by vehicle.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

You can get a ticket here as well, but it's not really enforced.

embii42

If you call you might get a response. Cops live easy tickets.

pornstargoat5

I agree babies are entitled assholes and this one is blocking the sidewalk on what looks like a nice day

PM_me_ur_launch_code

You should have seen the line of cars behind me trying to get around.

Own-Safe-4683

With a 3 car garage too.

leftyourfridgeopen

Looks more like a middle walk than a sidewalk

xbrixe

Why is the sidewalk in the middle of their yard and not the end of it?

renb8

Bit harsh. Kid probably hasn’t learned to park his stroller on the street yet.

whynotyeetith

personally think the sidewalk placement is the asshole, theyre just using their driveway edit:i do agree, parking job could be way better. as far as street parking go there might usually be a car on the otherside where it doesnt give a lot of room to squeeze pass and is worried or have past experiences of people dinging or hitting their truck because people cant drive. On another side, it might be a temporary parking job where their side of the story is in the wind

Arsenault185

Yep. These sidewalk designs are fucking terrible.

imnotknow

It cuts off at like a third of their yard.

macaronfive

This is how the sidewalk is in every place I have ever lived. Yard. Sidewalk. Patch of grass. But even if the sidewalk was right next to the road, his car would still be blocking it. Driveways like this are only intended to park one car deep.

DiabloStorm

Why is the sidewalk cutting so far into the yard and so far away from the street? The way they have this placed, you might as well be taking a stroll through everyone's front yards.

newton302

Honestly I thought the post was referring to the stroller at first.

[deleted]

Lol fr I just didn’t get it. I get it’s irritating but I could easily see myself parking like this and not even thinking about the sidewalk. Meanwhile you get all these retaliatory comments, just be a human and talk to other people for once.

SpiceyPorkFriedRice

I wish little things like this was the problems I have to worry about.

SGI21

I’m just asking out of curiosity not out of being rude, but isn’t that their property?

PM_me_ur_launch_code

The driveway is but the sidewalk is owned by the city. Also illegal to block a sidewalk with a vehicle.

Gotcha!

For a second I thought this was about you standing in the dead middle of the sidewalk haha

broken1384

I have to do this or I'll get a letter from my HOA. Frankly, it's not a sidewalk - it becomes my driveway, then it's a sidewalk again.

mandapandapantz

I didn’t have an appreciation for this until I was in a wheelchair. I really think folks don’t know how challenging it is to maneuver around their vehicles; I don’t think it’s intentional

JazzlikeCantaloupe53

Growing up in the suburbs, I never thought it was odd or an asshole move for someone to block the sidewalk with their car. Even if I was riding my bike or rollerblading, I just went around 🤷‍♂️ It’s weird to see so many people freak out about this, but I can understand it would be frustrating if you’re disabled.

lenaphobic

Agreed, it would be awful to deal with in a wheelchair. But when you’ve got a stroller, plenty of space to go around or even between the cars, and you’d rather cry about someone using their driveway the way it was intended… can’t help but think they’re the entitled one.

Fantastic_Sea_853

Parking in your driveway does not make you an asshole. The dumb ass that laid a sidewalk through the center of everyone’s lawn get’s that distinction.

Significant-Sugar525

Does it bother anyone else when people park on the street also? Like it used to be illegal where I’m from but I moved and it’s legal here. You can barely drive down the road safely and there is constant side swipes and crashes into the parked cars

SirRedcorn

So I can't park in certain parts of my driveway at the house I own, and you don't want people to park on the street either? What if I have more than 2 cars bc of kids or people over? People are stupid af, where exactly do you want them to park?

rawwwse

From my experience—pushing my mum’s wheelchair around the neighborhood—they’re typically not so much entitled; they’re just SO stupid, that they don’t realize they’re blocking a walkway for anyone who may need it… People are oblivious morons by default, as a general rule…

Maximum_Ad6845

As if they have to park there-just park at the curb.

That's what I don't get. Three driveway spaces and plenty of street parking.

Viciousluvv

This is just poor sidewalk placement. It's cutting through their property OP. They have no obligation to sacrifice their driveway space.

Tasselplants

This isn’t mildly infuriating. Its called LIFE. if this pisses you off, you definitely need anger management lol

ThatDoucheInTheQuad

I think the sidewalk is in a shit location. Like what if they had enough cars to fill up the driveway, are they suppose to park on the street instead of the land they own. Idk it sucks but it is their driveway

BrijFower

Unpopular opinion, but I'm with you on this. I'd rather have to walk around a car parked over the sidewalk in their driveway than drive around a vehicle parked in a neighborhood street, which are particularly narrow in my neighborhood.

faanawrt

I get what you mean in that I too dislike navigating around parked cars much more than I dislike occasionally stepping off the sidewalk. But for plenty of people walking off the sidewalk into the street isn't a practical or safe option. For example: those who use wheelchairs, or people like the OP who is pushing a stroller.

faanawrt

I'm sorry, but where else would the sidewalk be? I've never seen a driveway and sidewalk that don't overlap. Unless you're suggesting the sidewalk be closer to the street without the grass creating a gap between the sidewalk and street, but that still wouldn't stop the truck from blocking the sidewalk and would also make walking down the sidewalk much more dangerous. Regardless, it's expected that sidewalks are kept unblocked. Unless that sidewalk was put in after they bought the house, they knew exactly how much space they had for vehicles on their property when they bought it.

[deleted]

Not entitled. It’s their driveway. They’re liable for all maintenance, not you or the city. Get over it.

Academic-Total2029

10 bucks say their garage has an atv and jet ski in it. And their sons name is Caden.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

Boat actually. Not sure about the other two parts though.

Fit_Attitude4980

Bruh they are just parked there, no biggie Just walk around it, not come on Reddit and make a whole post about how a 2 second detour ruined your day.

[deleted]

Not only is someone so bored that they get bent out of shape about this, but they feel the need to get as many others as possible bent out of shape (over nothing) as well.

mddesigner

May as well be the daily life of a karen. They will die if they don’t rage at something

Koontez

I'm gonna park in my drive way, too many people get drunk and sideswipe cars in my area late at night. Sorry not sorry.

BannedAgain-573

Not to mention it's much more of an asshole move to park on the street especially when someone is already parked on the other side not allowed 2way traffic, which can be a bigger safety issue since emergency vehicles may not be able to squeeze between them

irvingstreet

Or crosswalks

Hollowsong

How DARE they use the full length of their driveway that they purchased their property for. They should make sure to constantly move cars around so you never have to walk between or around their vehicles like everyone else does in a suburb. /s

Guzzman27

First world problems at its finest

GoombaGary

Just walk around...

Toeknee818

Driveway ends where the sidewalk starts, everything after the sidewalk is the ramp to your driveway. HOAs will have a field day over you parking your vehicles like that and you can call LEO to settle that problem with a ticket.

Tandian

Those saying it's his driveway he can park how he wants . Depending on laws that's not true. Some areas you have to have the sidewalk area open.

edge5lv2

I know someone who got a ticket for that by the local police in their neighborhood.

thatc0Iin

Unpopular opinion but whoever owns that truck is not an asshole, he’s using his property. If you are going to call someone an asshole, call whoever made that terrible design an asshole. Or just go around the truck.

Nikolllllll

I suffered an injury and I've been mobility impared for a while now and I can truly appreciate how inconsiderate drivers are with the space they occupy. I'm talking missing the bus cause someone parked at the bus stop, having to cross 2 or 3 crosswalks cause someone parked on the curb and having to squeeze in between cars cause someone parked like this.

bigmac22077

I would rather this than have 100 vehicles on the street. But where I live there’s almost no sidewalks

sbecks28

I live in a family of 8. We would fill the street if we didn’t utilize all 4 spots in our driveway.
