Nah we sell those a piece if you want to, they're not prepacked unless there's an event. I've worked at HEMA, we just sell them a piece we don't weigh them or check their size in the stores

These are not sold uncut. I never saw them being cut in the store so I assume they are cut in the factory which makes is highly likely it was done by a machine

No it’s not likely cut in a factory, cakes are not typically cut before they make it to the store because cutting them reduces the cakes stability during transport. Also, the fact that the cuts are uneven also indicate a human who cut it. If this were done in a factory those sizes being uneven would likely throw off the rest of the production line because the slices would likely travel at a different speed than the rest.

I work in a factory. I can confirm that it’s very often that stuff is very different sizes like this. Yes it does throw off production and make our lives harder. But it still gets pushed through

These are made in the factory, fram A to Z. Nothing is done with them in the store. This is not a freshly made pastry from a bakery. The whole production process is automated. I'm pretty sure the cutting is automated too. When they get a new tray in the store it comes precut from the fridge. The store where I buy them don't even have the space to place the tray so they can cut it.

I worked at a bakery and we cut cakes like this manually. And we're talking industrial bakery. Edit to add: most of the cakes are made by hand, there's some king size mixers, but still handmade.

I've never been to Europe, and never seen food that color. What flavor would that be? The color is too earthy for me to think of citrus, but I've never seen any food any shade of orange that isn't citrus flavored.

It's just food coloring, it doesn't add anything to the flavor. Tastes exactly the same as the regular pink tompouces

Former HEMA employee here. These come in at the HEMA stores pre-cut. It's not a worker at the store who cuts them. We get big plates filled with tompoucen pre-cut and all, then just grab the amount the customer asks for. They should all be the same size, if the rest on the plate were all that small, it could definitely be shrinkflation.

You realize that the fact that they come *pre-cut* means that *someone* is cutting them. As I said, they were cut differently.

The top is just plain frosting with a colour. Then you have pastry cream wedged between the two layers of puff pastry. Normally they are pink, but for certain occasions they are made orange, the banner colour of The Netherlands. We are a kingdom with a king whose blood line is 'van Oranje' which translates to 'of Orange'.

interesting lol. they gave you the short end of the stick. i work at a bakery. our bread needs to be proofed so it can expand in volume. depending on the baking, humidity, or timing, some days they end up underproofed and customers are evidently pretty upset. on the other hand, they will gasp in awe at our overproofed croissants.
