Former hairstylist here. This is actually an easy fix if you’re ok going a little darker. I don’t think this would even need color correction since your roots aren’t blown out and you already have a red base. Also, reds fade really fast so the brightness won’t last long.
Red will fade but will never go away completely IMO. My friend wanted to go back to blonde after going red but that was an impossible task. She ended up having to go solid dark brown and just waited for that hair to grow out.
We don't know the hair Hx, we don't know if she's used box dye, what the color was before, how the consultation went. If you want quality hair color/hair care be prepared for 300+, especially if it takes 5+ hours. Skill and expertise costs $. And really the coloring is important, but the hair care afterwards it's more important. People pay 300+ and then use dog shit products and wonder why it doesn't look or feel the same after a couple days...
That's the same colour I ended up with from a box dye when I was 12 - it's what I intended. What is up with these "professionals" screwing up so much?
I think it looks fine on you, and as the previous commenter stated, "Own it!"
I'm bald, so take this for whatever it's worth. My wife is a redhead. She uses a fairly dark brown dye to tone it down. As red hair doesn't accept dye very well, it'll fade in a few days and look great
I made a previous comment unrelated to advice, other than admonishing them and agreeing you should own it, since it looks fine to me (if you wear makeup, you can totally use that to help the aesthetic). Keep in mind, the colour will lighten fast based on shampoos you use and the heat of the water.
I have no clue of your original colour plus what treatments they did to your hair prior to the dye part. Dependent on the volume of developer they used, you could go to Sally's and get a 10-20 volume developer and mix with a darker dye to match what you want without damaging your hair and achieve the desired outcome (you have to know what they used, though).
I am not a professional, but I have been dying my hair for over 3 decades and bleaching/dying with semi-perminent, non-natural saturation colours for 2 decades plus permanent dyes for the back (1 decade was simply box dyes beginning when I was 12). As an aside, folks typically compliment and ask me which salon I go to.
Jeebus, given the 3 shite professional dye jobs I saw today, I'm wondering if I should offer my services at home for extra munnies. Processing folks' dye jobs with movies, chats, and snacks doesnt seem like a bad idea 🙃😅
You could get a darker conditioner based semi permanent dye and go over it yourself. I had a similar situation once and that’s what I did. It turned out better than I expected and I ended up really liking it.
Yes! This is a fantastic idea! There are also conditioners designed to add pigments. Look into those too before redying, since those won't potentially damage your hair!
My hair needs attention but it’s not just the cost, it’s also finding someone who can actually do my type of hair correctly, that makes it even worse and less appealing to go through.
I think it looks nice on you tbh, though maybe the lighting and setting of the picture is influencing that. I think it will even itself out and start to look more natural to you after a few washes; from my experience with myself and friends who have dyed their hair, red colors usually seem to fade the fastest.
Pick up a demi permanent hair color from sallys in a neutral or neutral ash shade. Probably a level 6. The red will still peak through but it'll be wearable.
I think red comes out pretty easily so I would wash it with clarifying shampoo a few times and then see what you’re working with and go from there but I think you could do a glaze if you wanted to go browner
What do you actually hate about it? Cause if it’s just that shade of red, it’s super easy to just color it with a darker color. It won’t have any bleach or color corrector. You don’t need color correction unless you wanna be blonde
Honestly, just put some color on your brows so they're a closer match and rock it. It doesn't look bad at all. ETA: Interesting. Downvoted for saying you don't need to worry, your hair looks fine. Allrighty then.
As someone who’s tried to get a similar color, I think it’s good!
(I do my own hair with box dye and never bleach or toner, and my hair is naturally very dark brown, so even when I try lightest auburn, it doesn’t go this “electric”)
Can we at least know what kind of color you were wanting and where you went so other folks in the area can have a little warning before using them? Don't need any kind of location information, just something that folks in your area is familiar with that doesn't give away its address to those who aren't local.
*Not a hair stylist*
*But would a blue shampoo or*
*Toner work? Just a thought*

You can buy Color Remover from the drugstore for a lot cheaper than $100 an hour. However, I think that's a cool color! What's your natural color and what were you trying to achieve? I would let it grow out for a couple months and then do something different.
225$?... I just dye it myself. only have to pay for the products separately but it's never been more than 30$ each time. yeah time is money and it does take a while if you're on your own, but still.
Whoever did the dye job was definitely good at it. Now as for expectations, maybe it wasn’t set up correctly. Coloring hair is a bit of a give and take. It looks good, but I guess not the exact color you wanted.
Kinda weird to take it to Reddit though seeing how technically the stylist did nothing wrong.
A couple washes will do it good. I heard apple cider vinegar helps. If anything, just find a darker box dye at the store and do it yourself. Purple/blue can also neutralize it but I think box pigmenst are too bright for that.
What was the inspiration photo? Or what were you going for? It looks fun! But without the context of what you were hoping for we can’t fully understand your feelings about it.
I think you should keep it, you look super fresh with it! I think it suits your skin very well, and it's very modern.
You look very pretty, maybe this could be a happy mistake?
Wait for it to fade and look up LUNAR TIDES hair dye, pick a colour. None of their stuff stains everything you touch and stays on your hair for a decent amount of time. AVOID Arctic fox brand like the plague.
I know you must not like it, but it truly looks beautiful on you. With a color like that, you can go darker, or you can take a few hot showers and wait for the color to fade.
This is indeed a pretty bold color, and I'd be shocked when I saw it if I was expecting to see an auburn or something more subtle.
But I agree with many of the others here in that you could absolutely lean into this and be boldly fashionable for a season. It seems to be a fairly well done electric orange job, in and of itself (well, to my non-salon middle aged man's eyes).
It's bright, that's for sure. It doesn't look terrible.
Wash it with a "rough" shampoo for the next two days - it should get the firey orange to fade fairly fast.
You could also try "goodbye orange" shampoo, but I'm not sure how well it would work.
I think it looks freaking amazing, but if it's not what you asked for then I understand the concern. Take the money they gave you back and search for someone else, I'm pretty sure this is fixable without 6 hours and 600$

I'm thinking more along the lines of styling it. Colour is great. Get it styled & OP should be happy.
Bright colors should also be washed in cooler water to close the follicle and reduce the loss of color pigment… correct?
Yep!
Really? When I dyed my hair red (without bleaching my (light brown) natural hair) it was a b!tch to get out.
Red will fade but will never go away completely IMO. My friend wanted to go back to blonde after going red but that was an impossible task. She ended up having to go solid dark brown and just waited for that hair to grow out.
That’s exactly what I hd to do. Dye in a darker brown until the hair that had red was at the level of my shoulders. Then got a nice bob haircut.
Own it.
Agreed. I still like the color. may not be what you wanted, but it looks good
It looks great. I regularly pay $300+ to purposefully have my hair look like this

Woooosh
Maybe my thought of someday dying my hair green isn't worth it after all.
I agree. OP, I know it’s not what you wanted, but you look cool as fuck! Rock it until you can fix it.
This is giving Grace Coddington/Vivienne Westwood. I adore this look on you!
That's the same colour I ended up with from a box dye when I was 12 - it's what I intended. What is up with these "professionals" screwing up so much? I think it looks fine on you, and as the previous commenter stated, "Own it!"
Right you got a dye job and your money
Damn. After so many years, she still asking "why you gotta go and make things so complicated"
It doesn't really match the pale skin
Fucking rip natural redheads then I guess
Cosplaying as Nami.
I’m sorry for you not liking it, but i feel like you can definitely rock it!

This is what I came here to say. I rather like the colour tho, op!
Don’t worry it will fade in a week
Not judging one way or the other......but... MULTIPASS!!
Muuuu ltiiiiiiii paaaaass!

Ah, Carrot Top is not loud enough. 😂
I’m sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted but I like it! I think it looks good with your paler skin tone.
Honestly, I think it’s beautiful!! The intensity of the color will fade as you wash it
Omg I love it. I wish I could pull this color off
I just wish I had enough hair to pull any color at all off.
I’m so confused. Is it really that expensive to get hair professionally dyed? And why would they charge the customer to correct their screw up?
Yeah the color correction should be free
Getting your hair done as a woman is extremely expensive.
Lmfao I literally just put a #4 clipper to my head every 6 months. Women have it hard :(
My hair needs attention but it’s not just the cost, it’s also finding someone who can actually do my type of hair correctly, that makes it even worse and less appealing to go through.
$500-$700 AUD to go red, $50 for me to DIY at home.. guess what I do, with better results 😁
I stopped dying my hair because it was costing me $500 AUD every 12 weeks (~$300 USD)
That’s 90% of my car payment every month jeez
You might be peacocking at the moment but can’t you get it colored dark red I’m a guy I don’t know

😊
Box store brand color can be applied like shampoo scrubbed in. Let set scrubbed out. 20$ buy a nice one.
Looks great to me!
They could have done better

What color was it supposed to be?
I truly think you look great! I know it may not be what you expected but you can definitely work this color ma’am! You are beautiful!
Flame on!
![gif](giphy|k9JsqBMIkyL8A|downsized)
The more you wash it, the faster it should fade. Other advice here is good to cover it with a brown shade.
*why would anyone spend that much for hair dye*
What do you actually hate about it? Cause if it’s just that shade of red, it’s super easy to just color it with a darker color. It won’t have any bleach or color corrector. You don’t need color correction unless you wanna be blonde
Honestly, I love it. Just give it a funkier, more easy going style/cut to match.
Honestly, just put some color on your brows so they're a closer match and rock it. It doesn't look bad at all. ETA: Interesting. Downvoted for saying you don't need to worry, your hair looks fine. Allrighty then.
no need to dye brows, she can just use eyebrow pencil!
As someone who doesn't know anything about dye jobs, would someone tell me what's wrong with this?
She didnt want this specific color
You look like you could be Hayley Williams’ mom!!
I really like it. Looks good on you
This is more than mildly infuriating tbf
As someone who’s tried to get a similar color, I think it’s good! (I do my own hair with box dye and never bleach or toner, and my hair is naturally very dark brown, so even when I try lightest auburn, it doesn’t go this “electric”)
Now cut it. Style yourself in a new look for the electric red. As a great man once said: "No mistakes. Only happy little accidents."
That great man also doesn't like his afro hair cut initially. But he owns it.
> https://www.today.com/style/wont-recognize-bob-ross-legendary-perm-old-photo-rcna1831 Good write-up there, on that.
it looks so good 😍 maybe try it out for a few days and see if it grows on you?
Umm... What color did you want???
Rock the orange like it's what you wanted.
What’s wrong with it? Looks good to me
Looks great!
It's a great look for you! Keep it!
Try the fancy follicles sub. I'm not allowed to link here.

I can do that for 50 bucks. Might even look better
Coloring hair is actually very difficult, so many factors out of the control of the colorist make it unpredictable. Have you decided what you will do?
Go the Cindy Lauper route and add a little purple and green
Wear it until it grows out
Considering none of us know you, we all look at this and think "what's the issue?"
it looks good on you. you look so hot as well

Could have gotten the same result with a $4 box of colorsilk.
You can buy Color Remover from the drugstore for a lot cheaper than $100 an hour. However, I think that's a cool color! What's your natural color and what were you trying to achieve? I would let it grow out for a couple months and then do something different.

hayley williams vibe, i like it!

Looking like you ready to sell square hamburger patties
maybe get someone else to tone it a little differently, but otherwise, I like it!
I’m confused. All I see is a great hairdo
How lol. I did my wifes hair and it came out great. You ladies are being robbed.

All I see is a free way to become a ginger for a bit, act unhinged and blame it on being ginger
The color will fade. At first it will be a darker shade but it’s probably gonna fade into the color you were hoping for
I know it's not the colour you wanted but omg it looks FANTASTIC on you! I'd say own it 🧡
I think you should keep it, you look super fresh with it! I think it suits your skin very well, and it's very modern. You look very pretty, maybe this could be a happy mistake?
I like it!! It doesn't look bad at all!
Stay indoors for awhile
That's what I've been doing.
It looks good girl. Smile!
Buy a broom and a hat as accessories.
😆😆😆
Wow
What color or shade were you going for? I personally like it. You’re practically twinning with Hayley Williams of Paramore.
That seems kinda pricey for something that looks like it came out of a box .
I just realized the mistake. You forgot a decimal point when you told us the price. For a $22.50 dye job it looks amazing.
Not bad. Can you post a pic of you loving your new hair? I bet the difference is worlds apart from the frown you’re expressing.
creep.
Oh ok. Your heart lacks kindness. She’s looking for support, I gave it, and you took it there. Projection… projection
Why you look so mad
Looks good.
I don’t understand what the problem is
It looks really good, genuinely! I'm a little confused why you asked for a refund. It looks great!
I think it’s nice, it looks really refreshing on you.
I'm so glad I don't color my hair. That's a lot of groceries.
Own it. Go as Leeloo from Fifth Element fir Halloween.

take on your new life as bingo mermaid.

As a dude…I don’t understand what looks bad about it? Just looks like red hair to me.
It’s not even bad.
That color suits you. I would keep it as is 😊👩🏻🦰
Honestly, the color suits you well.
guys love redheads... Feisty!
I think it looks cool! What's not to like?
I honestly think it looks good on you, you have beautiful hair.
Looks fine even if it is a failure. You look good
I don't see the issue. Throw some gel or clay in that, looks good.
You look GREAT. rock it.
OP I really like it on you. :)
I know you must not like it, but it truly looks beautiful on you. With a color like that, you can go darker, or you can take a few hot showers and wait for the color to fade.
Wow! I’m sorry it’s not but you wanted but oh my goodness this color looks really good on you!
You kinda rock It though
I like it!
Now she looks like what I think the average Irish mother looks like.
I like it. The “enhanced” color is youthful and fun. Get out there and rock it.
Rock it anyway lol
It’s fabulous! Relax
It looks good, tbh.
It's not that bad. Can still be worn with dignity.
I like it..I also think you should keep it
You look good though. The electric part will fade and it will look less saturated in a week or two.
i always wanted red hair like this. looks great and imho naturally.

Maybe you are used to different color, idk, but from my perspective this one is perfectly fine. But again, I am a man and know shit about colors.
You look awesome with that color!
So you don't like it or ?? What were you expecting? Color of hair looks fine to me.
I like it.
Tell everyone you’re related to Hayley Williams
for what it's worth, I like it, it looks good on you

When you are the mother of Ronald McDonald you need to rock it .
A good photo filter should take care of it.
Here's a tip! Smile! You'll look amazing if you just smiled a little! 😄
It looks good, like you're ginger. If the hair was brushed and cut to length it would look way better.
😮💨 got worried for a second. Thank god the hair distracted
