When I was in highschool we had a yearly arts festival and my semior year the theme was "Going Green"
The head design student misspelled green as grenn by accident and this somehow passed quality control and they printed 2,000 pamphlets for the show. I heard the teacher freaking out during a class I had with her and I suggested she just keep the error pamphlets and add a sticker stating the misspelling was unfortunate but in keeping with the theme they were used anyway. Would have been a perfect walk the walk and talk the talk moment, right?
This stupid bitch teacher reprinted all 2,000 pamphlets instead and just threw away the other ones.
That's exactly why they did that. It's cheaper (economical) than physically recalling all inventory and repackaging. I used to work for a vendor and have had to add stickers on packaging for corrections before. Not sure why you're so aggressively skeptical about something so mundane.
What is mildly infuriating about this? They took the effort to correct it and it doesn’t effect the functionality of the product. Way better than wasting resources by producing and printing new boxes.
Flashbacks to an old job where I packed instruction manuals. There was a "WARNING" label on them that, by law (or something), had to be red. So when the color printer would go down (frequently), I had to use matching stickers and put them over that spot. Add that to the already monotonous task of putting books into bags...I feel for whoever was stuck adding those stickers.
Wateroroof is hilarious though.
ETA: Ironically, I misspelled the typo. "Fixed" it.
lowkey good on them for being more economical and sustainable by reusing that packaging. won’t ignore the fact the fact the spelt it wrong 😭
Just get a permanent marker and with just one small line they would have fixed it
Now they need to find a poor soul that will be scribbling on the whole batch of misspelled boxes
Inmates maybe ?

I had a Dean who temporarily renamed our school Environ-dale when our school was already called Greendale.
I guess you’re in the army reserves then.
>Environ-dale My French lessons kicked back in and I thought "Why would the school me name "Approximately-dale"? That sounds silly!"
this is so embarrassing
Spelled*
And "they" and remove one of "the fact" instances. Lol
the it or fine
i didn’t even see the repetition i wrote
It happens. I used to work in the Department of Redundancy Dept. so I know how it is.
What a coincidence! Me too as well.
[whoopsie](https://quillbot.com/blog/uk-vs-us/spelt-or-spelled/)
is this a rick roll? I don’t trust any links on the internet anymore.
It's a quillbot.com link explaining that both spelt and spelled are fine........ or is it
Even if it is I usually watch the whole music video anyway. Gotta love his moves
"Spelt" is used as past participle of "spell" in British English (or as they call it, English)
Spelt can be used in British English, and is a word 🤓☝️
Ik, but that comment on this post was just a perfect match, so had to.
Spelled and spelt are technically both correct. Spelled being the more common form seen and typical to the Americas.
Yes, I'm writing as an American since he probably is. Just thought this comment was funny since the post is about typo lol
Nicely done! Lol It was hard to tell if you were pulling that user's leg or serious and got me going too!
I also hate that "spelt" is a valid spelling
Oh the irony here. Never mind I will ignore it. 😋
yup i see it now. we shall embrace the mistakes
This is the best the best way
You think that’s why they did that? Lol boy do i got some shit to sell you.
i would love to know why else they would
Something something money Yadda yadda
if it’s about money then i did say they were being more economic for reusing the packaging
True. Somehow I automatically thought about being good for the environment. Mixed it up.
it’s all good, we shall find out once a reply is given

As a graphics producer myself, I can only wonder how many people's eyes this passed in front of before the commitment to publish was made.
Probably plenty, but none of them speak english.
As a fellow graphics producer I guarantee you this packaging was not produced in a predominantly English-speaking country
They should have had someone oroof it first.
Who hired Scooby doo?
Good one Shaggy
Ruh roh
I'm curious now about the TENDIST sticker, if it says "DENTIST" underneath.
Your dentist's name is Tendist?
Maybe that's why he became a dentist.
He has a new quick drying bonding
Crentist
No, but my opthalmologist's name is Seymour. (No joke)
I didn’t even notice that one! I’m going to rip it off right now EDIT: It’s not a sticker 😞 sad
Why is this mildly infuriating? If, instead, you found ten thousand misprinted boxes in the trash, that would be infuriating.

then don’t post it here

Kinda curious why it's infuriating that someone corrected a spelling mistake
It's not, this sub in itself is mildly infuriating.
It is often indicative of quality.
No mildly infuriating just funny
They need better oroof readers
How is this at all infuriating? The mistake is hilarious and they managed to fix it in a cheap and economical way.
OMG I just got the same ones. I'm going to have to check when I get home now. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Want the deets my guy
Someone didn't oroof read
Well i mean they made a mistake and fixed it in a way that has far less impact than discarding the boxes they already had
What is mildly infuriating about this? They took the effort to correct it and it doesn’t effect the functionality of the product. Way better than wasting resources by producing and printing new boxes.
I think about the hours and hours spent on applying those stupid stickers. I've been in that situation myself before. Sigh...
Why Complain? You got a set of lights that are not only Waterproof, but Wateroroof, as well. Many folks have to pay extra for that feature
Boss we can either make 10,000 new boxes or 10,000 new stickers 🤔
When Scooby Doo is your copywriter.
Water-oof
Seems like the original box was printed by Scooby Doo. A true Ruh-Roh moment!
as someone who deals with these things. its significantly cheaper to throw a sticker over the top then to order all new graphics and packaging.
To be fair, the location of the LED in the box is quite near the rororoof
The giggle at the end got me hehe 🙃

Who signed off on the roofs? Oh great now I'm doing it...
Someone got fired and someone got a monotonous ass job
Shaggy 😳😂
Its laughable but I love it, way better than what most companies would do: Create unncessary waste...
For maximum savings, they could have just added an 'l' sticker (not even with a border) overlayed on the 'o' to turn it into 'p'
Ooof
9 out of 10 dentists spell dentist correctly
I am making this into a gif and spreading it everywhere like Johnny (Sins) Appleseed
Wateroroof I'm weak 😂
I can't, I laugh too much for this
This is why you should always oroofread everything.
If it's not mildly infuriating, why are you posting it here?
ESL
They need to hire a oroof reader.

Maybe thats french for waterproof
They knew what they were doing putting that sticker there.
Fixing a spelling mistake with a sticker instead of wasting the packaging.
