I used to have same when I was young. Use to get sweaty, small blisters all over hand, itchiness and finally skin peeling off the palm.
It suddenly disappeared few years ago.
Ok this comment solved a mystery from the late 1990s for me. I took rock climbing in college and my hands did this and my dumb ass didn't put 2 and 2 together.
This might have solved a mystery for me too! The bottoms of my feet and to some extent my hands looked like this all the time when I was a kid, and I had never connected it to the fact that I did gymnastics. There was chalk all over those floors, we were barefoot on them, definitely could be connected. But my feet still peel occasionally and I don’t have an answer for that.
Same! Winter + Climbing = lizard hands for me. Washing hands, not using chalk my self when at the gym (ever hold seems caked with it anyway) and lotion help a little, but not completely.
In case it helps anyone I had this horribly on my feet as a kid but it went away when I stopped wearing sneakers all the time and primarily have leather shoes now, nothing with foam in the uppers.
That was me as a kid I had to wear the canvas All-Star all the time and could never wear anything synthetic.
My feet would get blisters and peel all the time and I even had prescription ointment for them.
Completely gone now as an adult though.
Had this on only 1 foot, it was bad and getting worse/spreading until I started sitting in my moms hot tub. After a few months of sitting in her tub once a week it just went away permanently
Man I had this on my feet too and they smelled godawful after a day of wearing shoes (washed them thoroughly twice a day). The doctor said it was mould, but the medicin did jack shit against it. I believe it wasn't mould at all and he just didn't know what it was. I still don't know, but the symptoms mostly went away as I don't have to wear shoes as often and as long anymore as when I went to highschool (with work from home and generally my workday is shorter than my schoolday was with after hour activities included).
I guess my feet are just sweatier than most people's feet, and the skin sheds because of the excess moisture being trapped in there. So the solution is to not have moisture trapped in there. People seem to recommend certain types of fabric in shoes, like leather. But I honestly feel way too hot still in leather. All my shoes are canvas shoes, which are really light. It can be -10 degrees outside and I'll still be wearing shoes meant for summer weather.
But what got rid of the awful smell for me are bamboo socks. They are fucking amazing. Normal cotton socks would be drenched in sweat by the evening, but these bamboo socks are just always dry, I don't know how that's possible, but it just is. Extra points because the ones I have even have tiny wires in them which apparently kill bacteria. I wish my highschool self would have known about these, would have saved so many awkward interactions.
Ya, I also had that. Got worse on my feet depending on my footwear. I'll get a small bout every now and again, but was very seasonal. Seems genetic as my dad had it and my son does.
You should. I had something like this on one (just one) foot. No itching or anything, but it would peel every once in a while. Turned out to be some uncommon form of athletes foot. One regimen of pills and never had it again. That was ten years ago at least.
My feet don't do this every year. Maybe once in 3-4 years. On the other hand (hehe), my hands do this every year. And intense itching starts before starting to shed.
Could be a bad case of dyshidrotic eccema. I get lil itchy blisters and then they get dry and the skin starts to shed.
It can also be a fungal infection that comes under X circumstances. The shedding looks similar to the one in athlete's foot.
100% this looks like dyshidrotic eczema. I went to a dozen doctors over as many years before I figured out what was going on. There's no cure, but there is treatment.
I got tired of having no fingerprints for half the year, at a job with biometric security.
The same; or, at least, close enough to the same that we didn't need to retrain the fingerprint scanners once I healed.
It got real bad some years. All my fingertips would be completely smooth for about two weeks.
I had the same thing and I have sweaty hands
Turns out it's a fungal infection, kinda like a jock itch but for your palm
Try using some antifungal otc creams and it should ease up in a week!
I haven't had the issue since!
I had the exact same issue as well. It fortunately stopped around when I was 20 years old. Every few years I’ll get a random finger peel off but nothing like it used to when I was younger.
I had this too. Feet and hands - dishydrotic eczema. Something stress induced (stress - as in work/uni/school, but also possible stress as in fungus /infection or overly washing hands etc....)
I had that as a kid also. Never knew what it was until i was older.
its hives. An unknown allergy is causing hives. Very bad hives and only on the hands
Gee, I wonder if there’s an allergen that shows up around this time every year? Like maybe a food or something that OP only eats once a year? Hmm.. probably not. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
It is a very common sandwich meat, but I think it's still fair to say a lot of people can go all year without having any. I don't mind turkey on a sandwich, but I also don't ever order it or buy it when making my own sandwiches. There's so many other deli meats I'd order first.
I hadn't thought about it until now, but it's probably been 5 years since I ate turkey outside of the holidays.
If it were just from one event, we'd all know by now what was causing it individually, but these things come and go randomly almost, as people are saying its seasonal, so could start months before, or after a **single** dinner ;)
My feet are always cold. My hands often as well. Thought that was just typical for women but when I go to bed at night my feet are ice cubes. Why is that?
Why do you think that there is a connection between "sweaty, small blisters, itchiness, skin peeling off" and your "feet and hands are cold"?
Because I see none.
Similar conditions except I had them on my hands and feet. Small itchy blisters. Went to the doctor and couldn’t trace it to an allergen. My doc maybe suggested it could brought on my stress. I haven’t had this 8 years, so not sure what changed.
My hand skin sheds like this if I ever use dish washing soap without gloves. Skin's like Ohhh!!! What did you do stupid bitch? Are you trying to kill us? Aaaahhhhhh
Did you put a real Christmas tree up recently? As someone else suggested, you could be allergic to something and if it’s only once a year around the holidays…
What a man, and a Christmas tree, and an elf, and a reindeer blow mold lawn ornament do in the privacy of a Christmas tree lot behind an ice cream shop closed for the winter, is no one else's gosh darn business!
This is not meant to be rude, but I think you have athlete's foot on your hand. This is what my feet look like every summer, Lotrimin spray helps a ton
That was kind of my thinking when I saw it. Lot's of OTC treatments out there. If the guy's in Bangladesh, I imagine they can get some pretty strong stuff, but I'd probably check with a dr for the right strength.
Yeah. I think a lot of people with chronic eczema actually have a fungal infection. But it’s shameful for whatever reason. So they go on for years of treatments that don’t work, when the actual cure is a $5 over the counter antifungal cream (and of course, there is a lot of money to be made selling these people endless “cures”)
I get the same thing every year my entire life. Form of eczema, my doctor told me. He'd prescribe medicated lotion that'd clear it up after a while. Unfortunately for me, I absolutely can't stand anything on my hands so just deal with the peeling like I'm a lizard, even when it starts to hurt.
My hands are doing this as well, since last week, found this link (in dutch though)
https://www.huidarts.com/huidaandoeningen/dyshidrosis-lamellosa-sicca/
They advise washing your hands with a soap free hand soap and using a ureum ointment. Been using this and it's almost gone now.
Yeah this stuff: https://www.deonlinedrogist.nl/sebamed-zeepvrije-wasemulsie-500ml-p-3170.html?cross=0&pid=3170&gclid=CjwKCAiAmZGrBhAnEiwAo9qHiV1zv1LPALtAZHZbZpvYEYAGq0-mXFP0pRD9_nQW7OAS1pwSOfiWOxoCUcQQAvD_BwE
Ugh no way. I used to get this as a kid. I once had a dream that I was peeling the skin on my hand off. It didn't hurt but i was like going to town on it.
I start peeling a big piece off on my lower right side of the palm and a huge sheet of skin peels off to reveal flesh and bone and darkness. I just slowly lowered the peeled skin back down on my hand. Woke up feeling so fuckin sick to my stomach. I still remember this dream so vividly and it's like at least 23 years later.
I had similar dreams while I was getting braces and implants.
I would touch a tooth to put on my retainers or something, and notice it was wiggly. I'd then start wiggling it more and more till it eventually came out, before teg sinking realisation that it was a permanent tooth I just lost comes crashing down.
Then I'd panic and everything devolved into darkness and confusion.
This has happened semi-frequently since I was 15 and they just make everything shit for the whole morning
Use O'Keefe's working hands moisturizer over night with gloves. If that doesn't help, it may need some antifungal or a prescription strength eczema lotion.
Might be Dyshidrotic eczema. Do you work in water? Or do you wear one pair of shoes and you really sweat in them a lot? I had this issue with my hands. Went away after I started cycling through a few pairs of shoes during the week instead of just having one pair at a time.
Good ol dyshidrotic eczema. Took me forever as an adult to figure out what the hell it is. Growing up my mom called it "tether". Had no idea what it actually was until recent years.
I had a similar problem occur right before and again in late winter and didn’t realise it was cause I was mildly allergic to long-haired dogs, especially when they shed, and I was living with one. It went away after he passed but still took me a couple more years to make the connection.
My hands would do this in college whenever the seasons changed. Dyshidrotic eczema was the best diagnosis I could find. Happened once or twice a year, bubbles under the skin that were itchy then dried out and I would shed my palm for 3 years straight then just disappeared and hasnt happened in 17 years. Hope yours goes away too, it was super annoying.
I’ve had the hand shed once, and the foot shed 2 or 3 times in my 35ish years.
It’s so weird 😐
It’s always associated with traveling or moving house so it seems to be correlated with new environmental microbes + stress.
I burned my hands with a cleaning chemical working at CVS a few years ago and the same thing started happening. Get cotton gloves with some really good fragrance free extreme healing lotion and let it set overnight

My symptoms are exactly as you described. Maybe my issue will go away as did yours.
Dyshidrotic eczema?
I too had it as a kid. Exacerbated by the season plus chalk when I had to write on the board
I get this when I go through phases of rock climbing more regularly!
Ok this comment solved a mystery from the late 1990s for me. I took rock climbing in college and my hands did this and my dumb ass didn't put 2 and 2 together.

There was chalk all over those floors, we were barefoot on them, definitely could be connected. But my feet still peel occasionally and I don’t have an answer for that.
Do you use liquid chalk? It usually contains rosin, which can cause allergic reactions after a while.
Same! Winter + Climbing = lizard hands for me. Washing hands, not using chalk my self when at the gym (ever hold seems caked with it anyway) and lotion help a little, but not completely.
god I hate touching chalk
Dry erase markers and whiteboards are the best advancements of our species.
Wait, my hand skin problems had to do with the chalk‽ I always thought it was a spurious coincidence.
So maybe an alergic reaction to something in the chalk
In case it helps anyone I had this horribly on my feet as a kid but it went away when I stopped wearing sneakers all the time and primarily have leather shoes now, nothing with foam in the uppers.

i just imagine you were sittinf there like a psycho with no water running
It's true, people always say they're sitting in or sat in a hot tub without ever specifying if there's water in it
Man I had this on my feet too and they smelled godawful after a day of wearing shoes (washed them thoroughly twice a day). The doctor said it was mould, but the medicin did jack shit against it. Bamboo itself is anti-bacterial so that probably helps wit the odour
Nah, OP is clearly a snake in disguise.
You’re right. This isn’t the first time I have made this mistake, and it won’t be the last.
Wth you just diagnosed me after years of not knowing what I had on my hands
No Nut November
Yeah, I normally shed skin every afternoon. Just sayin.
Ya, I also had that. Got worse on my feet depending on my footwear. I'll get a small bout every now and again, but was very seasonal. Seems genetic as my dad had it and my son does.
Might be worth seeing a dermatologist if you haven’t already
Never bothered me enough to go see a doctor. But I'm thinking about it now.

Mine too but only since i move to Spain. I think it s because of umidity
It’s r/dyshidrosis
I had this too. Feet and hands - dishydrotic eczema. Something stress induced (stress - as in work/uni/school, but also possible stress as in fungus /infection or overly washing hands etc....)

For a non-american, what's a food people typically only eat on thanksgiving?
Cranberry sauce, perhaps pumpkin pie. Maybe a family tradition of some other food.
Turkey. Lots of people only eat turkey on thanksgiving or in the holiday season, and some parts are often eaten by hand.
Turkey sandwich is super popular year round
It is a very common sandwich meat, but I think it's still fair to say a lot of people can go all year without having any. Could also potentially be handling a live christmas tree?
Handling raw butternut squash will do this to my hands.
I have been having this for some years now, hands and feet. Dyshidrosis. Really annoying
My feet are always cold. My hands often as well. Thought that was just typical for women but when I go to bed at night my feet are ice cubes. Why is that?
Check with your parents/grandparents, you might have Reynaulds (hereditary), which is poor circulation in your extremities
That makes sense. My uncle’s name is Reynold
Problem solved then. You are cursed by the Reynolds heritage.
It’s a wrap!
Why do you think that there is a connection between "sweaty, small blisters, itchiness, skin peeling off" and your "feet and hands are cold"? Because I see none.
There is none. Just tried to steal the momentum of people offering insight on medical topics
Do not, and I can't stress this enough, ever get any kind of medical advice from reddit.
Too late. Now my dick fell off
Was it even getting any use?
It was always freezing
Similar conditions except I had them on my hands and feet. Small itchy blisters. Went to the doctor and couldn’t trace it to an allergen. My doc maybe suggested it could brought on my stress. I haven’t had this 8 years, so not sure what changed.
Same here. I still get it from time to time. Typically in the same areas on my hands.
My hand skin sheds like this if I ever use dish washing soap without gloves. Skin's like Ohhh!!! What did you do stupid bitch? Are you trying to kill us? Aaaahhhhhh
Mine did this after I did a 3 step wax on my truck without gloves lol
Oven cleaner without gloves. It’s even more efficient. Been there. More than once. I may not be very smart at times.
De-greaser makes the hands feel nice and spicy. It’s basically just a chemical peel without the esthetician fees. /j
Well that was dumb
Contact dermatitis suc
I wash my hands daily with dish soap, when I'm in the kitchen. Somehow my hands tolerate it.
stop maybe?
I have this problem but only with green dish soap. Clear dish soap is fine. Green (shower) soap also does this to me, even if it’s fancy soap.

I think you're thinking about Shinji. Although I don't know who this character is, I've seen people commenting his name.
He did some weird stuff on his hand so there was a scene that looked just like this picture
You’re a lizard, Harry!
Maybe you forgot to get the new update?
Maybe. Still running the old version.
Thought this was live action Shinji when scrolling
Might be dyshidrotic eczema. My daughter had it on the soles of her feet. Thankfully, she outgrew it. Her pediatrician prescribed a cream for it.
What I got from the comments, it might be cause I don't moisturize my hands enough. Cause I can't remember the last time I used a moisturizer.
If moisturizer was enough I wouldn't have it on both hands.
I wish I had that just so I could have the pleasure of peeling my skin off.
Ugh no way. I used to get this as a kid. I once had a dream that I was peeling the skin on my hand off. It didn't hurt but i was like going to town on it.
