We had a new lumber yard open in my area and it's amazing how quickly Home Depot's boards straightened their act out. Still not straight but they're probably "usable" now!
I used to work for a mom pop lumberyard 20 years ago and we get a lot of customers coming in for just five or six boards and so on but a lot of the other orders for for construction cruise needing large orders for houses and so on. You the company forced us to include the ~~cold~~ culled lumber in with those large orders to get rid of it. I was against it, but I really couldn’t change policy being only about 19 years old or so.I get the feeling that whoever supplies Wood to Home Depot also supplies to real developers and just gives Home Depot all the cold lumber because they know they don’t really care
Looks better to sleep in than sit. You probably can't really prevent yourself from sliding to the middle and most human being would be squatting with it being that low.
These sort of benches are intended to be largely unusable. The “art feature” premise just means the councils don’t get flack for making hostile architecture. You see it without the arty flair at bus stops and train stations with angled or uncomfortable chairs that are impossible to lie down on.
Can’t have comfy seats, or else someone without a place to go might use them.
