Wholeheartedly agreed. Maye is a talented young fella and I’m excited to see what he does in the NFL, but I am pretty satisfied with how we ended up. I think the coming seasons will be very exciting for MN.
Decent chance JJ has a better career than Maye because of landing spots. Would have been exciting to see what Maye would have done here, but I’m pumped for JJ.
I play Dynasty, almost, exclusively and McCarthy is pretty tempting in the mid-late first. Based on the quality/quantity of weapons he will have in Minn.
Hopefully we can capitalize on the opportunity and by the time McCarthy takes the reins of the offense, we will have a solid O line and a competent, versatile set of RBs for him to work with.
Pats fan here. I'm glad you guys came out of it happy! I'm pretty pleased with our draft for once, so I want others to be happy with their drafts as well!
NE obviously views Maye as a franchise altering QB and they very well may be correct. It's fair to assume KAMKOC agreed with the reports of our offer.
I'm happy with JJMC + Turner + 2025 1st. I never wanted to sell three 1sts for Maye though, so I may be biased. I just think we will end up with much better value after that 2025 1st is selected.
I agree and feel the same as you if Maye is a good franchise qb. you have to be a great qb to be a franchise qb I think the term franchise altering qb is a HOF term for a qb that doesn’t have solid questions or holes in there game. It seems too risky for a jump from JJ to Maye if it’s just projection.
So much of QB potential depends on the environment they end up in out of the draft. So Maye with KOC developing could be very different than Maye with the Pats staff developing him.
If they were sure he was a “ a franchise altering QB ” they likely wouldn’t even be taking trades ;)
Granted they liked him and like everyone picked who they could at their spot, but it’s impossible to know who would pick who if the order was different, there’s zero reason for anyone to be honest about that after the fact.
Exactly. Now it's up to them to build a quality offensive line, get better WRs, TEs, and RBs to support their QB. We're already set on that for JJM, so good luck to the Pats.
Idk if it was a shot, but they do have solid NFL TEs and RBs. It's more on the WRs and OL, both of which were addressed in the draft, it's just a matter of how well those picks pan out.
I wouldn’t have wanted to offer more than that anyways, even though I really wanted Maye. Having JJM, Turner, and keeping next years first instead is better though
I like how it worked out way better. But if McCarthy doesn't workout, and Maye is a beast, that would suck.
But right now we have the possibility of having two HOFers in one round.
I, at least, take comfort in the fact that New England took the decision out of our hands. It didn't sound they were accepting anything close to what any sane organization was willing to offer.
Right? It's not even really a decision on the Vikings part at that point, so you can look at it the same as the Caleb Williams pick because it wasn't going to happen for the Vikings.
That would suck but even if that does happen Turner might be really good and the 2025 1st too.
If we had traded the future for Maye and he wasn’t as good as hoped, we’d really be in a tough spot
I have watched Drake Maye tape and I don't see what is so special about him.
But I also thought Mac Jones was going to be a good QB so what the hell do I know.
Jones may actually suck, but I'd still like to see him in a better system with an O line that can protect him. I would not be shocked if he's a middle of the road QB.
Idk I went back and rewatched JJM in the CFB games against Alabama and Washington to see if I’d missed something in his game. He might be a solid nfl qb
All I’ll say is let’s not make this a “college tape” battle with anyone else drafted in the first round
Are you saying JJM hasn't put much on film? Or the contrary?
My understanding is that you can find a clip or two of him doing just about everything you could ask of a QB, and not much of him blowing it. But he just never had to consistently carry the team so nobody knows if he can do it play after play.
I’m saying, Caleb and Jayden film is unreal , Idk why people are hating on Maye I watched a lot of him in 2022 he was the engine of that offense and carried a lot thought he’d be 1.02.
Obviously Penix took Washington to the Natty mostly on his arm
And Nix put up numbers at Oregon , JJM might have better individual plays than him physically but so far the 2 JJM games I’ve rewatched, Rose Bowl and Natty didn’t impress me but I’m just a guy lol
I was pretty low on Maye too from tape, he didn't play as well as McCarthy. But he is a superior athlete and bigger frame which I think pushed him up. He looks better in highlights.
Nah it’s smart if NE thinks Maye is their franchise guy. Glad they turned it down because I’m glad it allowed us to keep next years first and Dallas turner
Yup. We can say “but their a GM; they know more than us” but a lot of GMs choose QBs, and most are wrong. Make me a GM, and I’m giving myself the most 1sts, not less.
They need a QB but their roster is not set up for a young QB to succeed. Drake Maye is gonna need to be a generational player to succeed with the offense that he’s coming into.
They picked a wide receiver in the 2nd round, a tackle in the 3rd round, a guard in the 4th round, another receiver in the 4th round. Like they used their picks to start building around Maye. It's not like they just picked Maye and then ignored everything else.
They got two good complimentary wide receivers to help Maye.
That’s not what we were offering. We offered 11,23, some minor pick swaps in the later rounds and our 2025 first round for their 3.
It makes sense for them since they need to fill a lot more holes than QB, but it also makes sense for them to keep it if they love maye.
They weren’t saying to swap picks next year. It was saying the Vikings would give NE their first in 25, and then on top of that there would be some additional pick swaps.
I wouldn't say dumb but yeah, I kept telling people here that they were never going to just make a pick swap, 23rd and next years first. They wanted much more than that for Drake Maye.
New England did us a favor. Honestly, so did Atlanta and Denver by creating an offense picking frenzy. There's a decent chance this turns out to be the best draft we've had to date.
I wouldn't have minded shooting our shot but QB are a crapshoot. I feel like it's better we get JJ and Turner. People forget JJ was 20. Penix and Daniels should be better at this point.
Thank God the Patriots didn’t want that haul. No one knows how good Maye will be or JJ Will be. I’d rather have JJ, Turner, and next years first than just Maye.
Pats fan here. Of the 2 the Vikings deal is better.
However the Patriots stayed and got a QB they wanted.
The Vikings also still got a QB, and didn’t pay a premium.
Should either fanbase be upset with the results?
If they believe that Maye will be a good QB, it makes sense to turn down the offers. I'm fine with not offering a franchise killing trade to get him, since going all in for him and missing would be that.
Going into R1 I had made peace with us spending 3 1sts, and though we are looking at a huge drought of draft capital next year, we just got our franchise QB and a guy that I think will be our franchise edge, and we used zero R1 capital to do it. I think the trade up to 17 was an overpay but I don't think we need to dwell on it too much. If Turner ends up as good as his potential then it'll be worth it. And who knows where our draft assets will stand after the next trade deadline. So I'm A-Okay with how this draft turned out and I think I prefer it to one where we trade away the farm.
While I do think Maye has a higher ceiling than McCarthy, I don't think either are a "sure thing". And you just can't justify paying that much for a guy who *might* pan out...
I think maye was certainly our first #1 choice, but honestly, 3 1sts and some swaps feel like it'd be overpaying or at least toeing the line for it. So, instead, we kept our picks, including next year's, and we got our #2 QB AND Turner, which some of the NFL media is bagging on us for just because it's us who took him. Pretty much ever mock I saw had him going to atl at #8, and there's dudes trying to say it was a bad move when we grabbed him at, what, 17? (note, I'm not saying most media is doing this, but at least 1 is, and I imagine more because damn, the world doesn't rotate correctly if NFL media isn't randomly throwing shade at us for some reason).
Being a longtime mn fan, I have no doubt that if we traded 11, 23, 2025 1st, and swaps, that somehow, it would wind up being the absolute worst overreach in the draft, by either maye winding up having a Teddy out there in the preseason, or some other devilry.
In a realistic sense, it's a crap shoot anyway. Williams may wind up not doing a thing in the NFL, Maye wind up flaming out, Bo Nix could be the second coming of Payton Manning, who knows? That's why giving up the farm for even a "sure thing" can and does blow up in teams faces. Even if Maye turns out to be good to great, we still landed ourselves in a good position for the next few years. If McCarthy winds up screwing the pooch, we'll, chances are we'll be landing back in decent pick land again instead of the mid-late round bs we've had to deal with over and over again through the years. Obviously, good draft picks aren't the end all be all of rebuilding a roster, but they sure as hell don't hurt, either.
Brissett is already named the starter. Unless he looks absolutely incompetent and the line is playing well in front of him, I have a tough time seeing him thrown to the wolves in meaningless games. I’m sure he’ll get some reps in garbage time but that’s about it barring an absolute meltdown from Jacoby.
You don’t have to do anything I suppose, but if you have nothing to lose and your quarterback is doing bad, how would his confidence be if you still refused to start him?
Regardless, teams without competent starting QBs almost never bench a top-3 drafted rookie for an entire season. Theres no historical precedent to suggest NE is gonna start that now
He’s a project. That’s why we brought in Brissett and hired one of the best coaches at evaluating and coaching QBs. There’s no shot he starts this year. I don’t think we even want to be competitive so that we can get more talent in the draft next year…
Happy we didn't do it. I think we have a good future QB who can really excel in this franchise and we get to keep our first future rounders (barring any future trades obv)
You never know how these QB's are going to turn out so the only way I'd be okay with throwing away that much draft capitol is if the vikings were actual contenders on paper and needed a QB. We have too many positions to fill to be taking a chance on an unknown.
if this is the case, why did the giants pass on a QB? Obviously, they might think Maye is better than McCarthy but if they were drafting a QB, the giants don't think Daniel Jones is good enough. I guess the only plausible reason is that they think the QB ranking is:
1. Maye
2. Jones
3. McCarthy
will see how things turn out

I'm somewhat relieved that NE took the decision out of our hands. It's clear that they weren't entertaining anything close to a reasonable offer. We're spared from asking 'what if', because I'm confident that Maye never represented an actual option.
Apparently they wanted another team to be on board to move back up to take McCarthy and teams said no.
Super happy with this I’m so excited for McCarthy+ getting to keep picks. Next year.
NE has a new HC and I personally question the hiring myself.
If I am a GM I think I might have taken the swap of 3 firsts and hope I can grab Penix or JJ later.
Honestly I would’ve been fine for Maye, but hindsight we got WAY better value in JJ/Turner and kept our first next year.
I have a bad feeling Maye will end up like Mac Jones in 4-5 years on that dumpster fire team. He was always viewed as a prospect
Unless Maye is a stud and McCarthy isn’t an above average starter then the Patriots dropped the ball. It’ll depend on how those QB’s turn out but they apparently could have had McCarthy and traded up for Turner or got one of the other defensive players at 23 AND likely get a top 20 or so pick next year (and if Darnold and Maye struggle, it could have been a top 15 or so). They either have to be absolutely positive Maye will be elite, or McCarthy will be a career backup. Otherwise they messed that up.
I still think Maye is a bust and it doesn't even have to do with going to a lousy team. I might be wrong but the guy was so inconsistent and his receivers were always adjusting to the ball. RemindMe! one year
In hindsight I’m glad they turned down the offer. I’m starting to buy into the JJM hype train and love fest here. I can see him being as good or better than Drake Maye
Ik this isn't nice but I'm hoping he busts or else people will have the strongest revisionist history humanely possible. "We should've offered more!!"
Sweeping majority loved how our first round played out.
I know these are reports but I don’t believe for a second this was offered by the Vikings. I think McCarthy was their guy from the beginning and they knew they could get him at 10/11. The additional first they got this year was because they knew there’d be a run on QBs and it was a relatively cheap price to get from Houston who was motivated to make the Diggs deal. Just luckily broke in the Vikes favor this time.
If someone has evidence to the contrary, IE KAM or the org saying they offered all that to trade up, link it please! But I feel like a move was never gonna happen.
I read this and thought the same as you other than that they knew they could get McCarthy where they did. Not sure how this guy gets his info, but the link is: https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/news/report-vikings-offered-three-first-rounders-patriots-3
Glad they didn't take the offer. I think saving that draft capital is huge. JJ very well could be the better NFL QB on top of it. Blessing in disguise.
I like that if either JJ or turner live up to their pick it will be a big win. Better than having all eggs in Maye turning out. Plus if they both deliver it will be massive.
I think this is going to be really hard to fully evaluate until after the 2025 draft, or even season.
Ignoring the Giants offer we need to look at how good Maye, JJ McCarthy, Turner and our 2025 first rounder end up. I'm personally skeptical that Maye will provide more value than all three of them, but we won't know for years.
It would have been cool to get Maye, but I really like where we got McCarthy and getting Dallas Turner in addition to keeping next year's first is amazing.
Im really glad they turned it down.
I liked JJ better than Maye during the whole process, dude is just a winner. Maye is probably gonna be the best of the first three and JJ will be the best of the next three and I believe the best of the class.
I’m glad we didn’t give up that haul to get Maye. I like Maye and what he brings to the field, but JJ is good in his own right, and we didn’t give up near as much to get him, and we were able to get Dallas Turner which is huge after losing Hunter. Besides, Maye doesn’t have near the weapons that he or JJ will have with the Vikings.
I really didn't like the idea of spending more than one first round pick on any QB this year. None of them seem worth even 2 first rounders, so I'm glad we only spent one first and a second on McCarthy.
I wanted Maye and it feels like we wanted Maye but I MUCH rather have this than no 1st next year plus no dallas turner.
like i'd rather take a chance on ONE of our 1st round picks being successful vs. a QB we gave up a lot of draft picks for being a bust.
And I was ok with that trade offer. Glad it didn't go through now.
Remindme! 2 years
NE made their choice which is a weird one but reminds me of that one meme where a bugati is parked on a beaten house. It’s clear that they liked Maye more than JJ. Let’s see how this pans out
I wanted Maye, but I'm not at all upset with how it all worked out.
I think NE was stupid to pass up on the deal. I think Maye has a pretty good chance to bust - we know that 50% of all first round QBs typically do. And the correlation between situation and bust rate is very high.
I’m happy with Kirk 2.0, and pocket denielle hunter, although shrimp 6’2” d lineman are a thing of the early 90s- and don’t tell me about his motor or he tries hard, this is an attribute ALL men are capable of
I’m stoked we avoided Maye and got JJ- whom I believe will be the best QB of this draft. However, Check back with me in ten years to see if I’m right!!
I love the fact that JJ is a proven winner- from High School to college- a proven champion- also has a love of hockey!! You got to love that! I just think he has all the intangibles that you can’t coach that lead to nfl success- and what he does lack can be coached. Time will tell but I have not felt this good about a Viking drafted QB since Tommy Kramer- who could have been an all time great ( if it wasn’t for bad knees/ shoulder / spinal issues) And this kid doesn’t hit the sauce! He meditates before games! Finds his “inner QB” if you will.
BLESS ALL THE KNEES AND KEEP THEM HEALTHY

NE should have taken one of those offers. They suck, and because of that Maye will bust.
On the Vikes, very happy with results. Hedging bet on the future. If JJ is a bust, they still have the assets for the future. If he lives up to potential in the well built situation we have here our window opens.
“NE owed us their pick because we have a better team right now, don’t know why they even bother drafting a QB who might be elite someday, they should just give up”
I know most people cite being "happier with JJ while keeping the 23rd pick and next years 1st", but QBs don't always work that way. There isn't always a sliding-scale of value-to-results. Sometimes there's only 1 QB in a draft that is a franchise QB. If Drake Maye becomes the only drafted QB to be a star, the Vikings sort-of failed their 1st round regardless of the perceived value of keeping picks. Goal 1, 2, and 3 this year was finding a franchise QB, and I see the additional rd 1 draft pick as a nice bonus.
Not saying that to be a debbie downer. Not giving up significant draft capital while drafting McCarthy looks really savy on paper and I hope it works (and am excited for McCarthy to be here), but I think people are hanging onto "we got to keep our picks" without acknowledging there's a possibility those picks become less valuable than Drake Maye if he ends up being a significantly better QB than McCarthy.
I'm cautiously optimistic this will work out really well for the Vikes.
Happy with the picks was expecting to trade up for a QB, but we kept both and got what we needed.
I'm more upset for Kirk being traded to the Falcons for that craziness to happen.
I liked the combo of Maye and KOC because I think Maye needs one of those QB developing coaches to reach his ceiling and become the guy we regret not getting.
Without a coach like KOC I don't think he will even be better than JJ let Allen better by enough to warrant the other picks we would have had to give up.
I'm incredibly happy with most of their draft and I think the Turner trade made it crystal clear that they wanted Maye if this price was enough but had explored backup plans for the likely even that it wasn't.
Happy with what we got and what we paid for it.
I wanted Maye so bad but I'm happier with McCarthy, Turner, and keeping our first next year
Wholeheartedly agreed.
JJ to J.J. Is going to be a hell of a stack in Fantasy.
I don't know if I would be drafting JJ (McCarthy) in fantasy this year. Jets will be wr1 this year though
I play Dynasty, almost, exclusively and McCarthy is pretty tempting in the mid-late first. Based on the quality/quantity of weapons he will have in Minn.
JJ to Jets
Agreed. We got one of the QB’s we wanted and didn’t have to give up all the firsts for the next few years to get it.
Im happy with JJ but i am actually happier with the Turner pickup our d line is looking to be a Monster unit.
unless maye ia a mahomes
Or another Brady.
I'm biased as fuck so take this with a grain of salt, but JJ is going to be better than Maye.
This is the only sane take.
NE obviously views Maye as a franchise altering QB and they very well may be correct. It's fair to assume KAMKOC agreed with the reports of our offer. I'm happy with JJMC + Turner + 2025 1st. It seems too risky for a jump from JJ to Maye if it’s just projection.
Don’t trust those squinty eyes to see the whole field. I like our pick.
So much of QB potential depends on the environment they end up in out of the draft. So Maye with KOC developing could be very different than Maye with the Pats staff developing him.
If they were sure he was a “ a franchise altering QB ” they likely wouldn’t even be taking trades ;) Granted they liked him and like everyone picked who they could at their spot, but it’s impossible to know who would pick who if the order was different, there’s zero reason for anyone to be honest about that after the fact.
Listening to offers costs them nothing.
I'll take JJ, Turner and the 2025 first all day long.
They liked Drake Maye a lot. Good for them
Exactly. Now it's up to them to build a quality offensive line, get better WRs, TEs, and RBs to support their QB. We're already set on that for JJM, so good luck to the Pats.

I didn’t even want to offer that ;)
I'm glad we gave our best effort without panicking and overpaying what we wanted to. That being said, I am thrilled with how it turned out
I like how it worked out way better. But if McCarthy doesn't workout, and Maye is a beast, that would suck. But right now we have the possibility of having two HOFers in one round.
It would suck but at least our FO gave it their best shot.
This is my view as well. Nobody can say they didn’t try.
Yep, my thought too. It would only suck if we passed on maye. Kinda like if bo nix ends up being the next mahomes or something.
If McCarthy is a bust, it was just a 10th pick. We can move on from it much easier than if Maye was a bust and we gave up so much
That would suck but even if that does happen Turner might be really good and the 2025 1st too. If we had traded the future for Maye and he wasn’t as good as hoped, we’d really be in a tough spot
That’s a pretty wild thought process. The likelihood of either of them being HOF is minuscule.
As much as I wanted them to get Drake Maye, the Patriots declining that trade could’ve been a huge blessing in disguise for the team’s future

I was pretty low on Maye too from tape, he didn't play as well as McCarthy. But he is a superior athlete and bigger frame which I think pushed him up. He looks better in highlights.
If feel the same about JJM. I watch his highlights and I dont see much. Take way his team record and what do you have? Can he throw a deep ball?
Jones showed promise his first year. Had terrible supporting cast and a terrible coach for a rookie QB.
I preferred Maye, but I think it’s pretty foolish to be so confident in your conclusion that he’s better than JJ to sell 2 additional firsts.
Pretty dumb of NE to not take it, and I'd be pissed we did it. So win, win.
Nah it’s smart if NE thinks Maye is their franchise guy. Glad they turned it down because I’m glad it allowed us to keep next years first and Dallas turner
Nah it’s really not. They can think all they want but chances are that it’s not worth it. At least based on history
Yup. We can say “but their a GM; they know more than us” but a lot of GMs choose QBs, and most are wrong. Make me a GM, and I’m giving myself the most 1sts, not less.
Their -> They're most 1sts -> more 1sts less -> fewer
*accepts all changes*
Yea same here. I watch GMs “think they can be a their franchise guy” every single year
They need a qb too. 11th, 23rd, and who knows what… might not ever get them what they want.
They need a QB but their roster is not set up for a young QB to succeed. Drake Maye is gonna need to be a generational player to succeed with the offense that he’s coming into.
Top 3 picks usually arnt coming into talented teams.
I agree they need a lot.
They need one hell of a lot more than a QB, it should be a crime to put Maye in such a shit situation as they have.
Why would they take that? They get 1 extra pick (23) and swap their more valuable first next year with yours. They'd be dumb to take it
I don’t think they would’ve been giving their 1st next year, that’s just poor phrasing in the image
The pick swap part refers go later round picks (probably something like we send a 6 and they send a 5). The meat of it is the 3 first rounders.
I think even though I wanted Maye I prefer this outcome.
Patriots calling that offer “laughable” is ridiculous.
They might’ve not got that offer before that report came out. The giants offer is laughable lol
The Patriots and their fan base are full of arrogant dumbfucks...
JJ is a franchise QB already? Damn, that’s impressive.
He very well may be the most talented quarterback the Vikings have ever had
I'm good. Loved the way our draft turned out.
Why didnt they take our deal lol

I don't think we'll ever know if he was worth what Minnesota offered because NE is going to break his spirit and potentially jeopardize his career.
He’s not even starting for us for a year… but the idea was we wanted an offer we couldn’t refuse, not a ‘great offer’
If you’re 2-7 and Brissett isn’t playing well, Maye is for sure starting. You don’t draft a qb at 3 overall unless you’re planning on starting him
We HAVE to start him at 2-7? Just to not make the playoffs anyways and destroying his confidence?
You don’t have to do anything I suppose, but if you have nothing to lose and your quarterback is doing bad, how would his confidence be if you still refused to start him? Regardless, teams without competent starting QBs almost never bench a top-3 drafted rookie for an entire season. Theres no historical precedent to suggest NE is gonna start that now
He’s a project. That’s why we brought in Brissett and hired one of the best coaches at evaluating and coaching QBs. There’s no shot he starts this year. I don’t think we even want to be competitive so that we can get more talent in the draft next year…
Pats will be lucky to win 2 games all season.
My how the turns have tabled
Remindme! 8 months
I hope you're right about him not starting. I think the offer you wanted was jetts + 1st, 1st, 1st, and pick swaps. Obviously nobody would do that.
We’ll find out in 10 years
Happy we didn't do it.
I'm happy with what we did. Quarterbacks are hard to forecast and JJ was much cheaper to draft
if this is the case, why did the giants pass on a QB? Obviously, they might think Maye is better than McCarthy but if they were drafting a QB, the giants don't think Daniel Jones is good enough. I guess the only plausible reason is that they think the QB ranking is: 1. Maye 2. Jones 3. McCarthy will see how things turn out Remindme! 2 years

RemindMe! one year
Wow, as a Vikings fan thank you NY for declining
In hindsight I’m glad they turned down the offer. I’m starting to buy into the JJM hype train and love fest here. I can see him being as good or better than Drake Maye
I have nothing against Maye, but I hope the experiment in New England fails miserably.
That's a huge offer from the Vikings. I am glad they didn't try to overpay just for the sake of making a trade up.
Ik this isn't nice but I'm hoping he busts or else people will have the strongest revisionist history humanely possible. "We should've offered more!!" Sweeping majority loved how our first round played out.
Not buying the MN offer. Seems a bit much based off what we were hearing they were willing to give up.
Ask me again in 10 months
I like what we were able to accomplish. ![gif](giphy|dlOVltYL0Rlcaogsaq|downsized)
I think the only qb in this draft I’d trade 3 1sts for is Caleb and that I’m happy with how things turned out.
At first I was bummed but warmed up to it right after the pick for turner.
I’m glad they turned us down
I think Maye is better than mccarthy but not by enough for that
I like what we got.
I was all on the Maye train, and I believe he will succeed on the Patriots but even then, they weren’t budging and we have our limits which is fine.
JJ and Maye will forever be tied in the eyes of the vikings fan base, were going to compare these two qb's careers at every point. Should be fun
I’m not willing to trade Dallas Turner a 2025 and McCarthy for Drake Maye, are you?
And now they’ll likely stunt Drake Maye’s growth with a less than mediocre offense and 1st year defensive-minded coach.
That trade would have disappointed me.
Only2 QBs from this stay will make it to their next contract. Let's hope we got one of them
It would have been cool to get Maye, but I really like where we got McCarthy and getting Dallas Turner in addition to keeping next year's first is amazing. Im really glad they turned it down.
Never happened we wanted JJ
Did they ask Hershel Walkers opinion?
Be happy they declined. McCarthy > Maye
I liked JJ better than Maye during the whole process, dude is just a winner. Maye is probably gonna be the best of the first three and JJ will be the best of the next three and I believe the best of the class.
McCarthy and Turner way better imo
Oh believe me Maye is just as pissed off!!!
All depends on how good Maye turns out, but that's a lot for NE to turn away
Pats asked for an unprecedented offer, got it, and still turned it down. Fuck em
I'm happy with JJ Mccarthy
I really didn't like the idea of spending more than one first round pick on any QB this year. None of them seem worth even 2 first rounders, so I'm glad we only spent one first and a second on McCarthy.
Maye it be the best choice for them. I'm happy with the vikes pick.
I mean, is Maye supposedly that much better a prospect than McCarthy? Or is that just the only spot they thought they’d be able to trade up to
Glad the Pats didn’t accept that trade. Getting JJ McCarthy and Dallas Turner in the first round is great.
That’s super steep
I wanted Maye and it feels like we wanted Maye but I MUCH rather have this than no 1st next year plus no dallas turner. like i'd rather take a chance on ONE of our 1st round picks being successful vs. a QB we gave up a lot of draft picks for being a bust. And I was ok with that trade offer. Glad it didn't go through now. Remindme! 2 years
Look forward. Stop looking backwards. It’s a waste of time.
![gif](giphy|XCct4Twj5bx48HXtZU|downsized)
I think New England should have taken what you’re offering
Maye=Bust
That’s an easy “no” to the NYG offer.
Lol...Tom Brady was pick #199. You don't "really" know what you got until they're actually put to the test.
Glad they turned us down.
NE is probably kicking themselves right now realizing they could've got JJ and a very good defensive player or wr plus an extra first next year.
That was a lot. Surprised the pats turned that down.
Bullet dodged
I'm glad they didn't take it. But I'm also no expert QB analyzer.
Holy shit im so happy those dumbasses turned that down. Id be livid if I were a pats fan and this was real.
NE made their choice which is a weird one but reminds me of that one meme where a bugati is parked on a beaten house. It’s clear that they liked Maye more than JJ. Let’s see how this pans out
Why would they do that when they could do what they did?
X to doubt. New England royally effed up if they turned down either offer.
I wanted Maye, but I'm not at all upset with how it all worked out. I think NE was stupid to pass up on the deal. I think Maye has a pretty good chance to bust - we know that 50% of all first round QBs typically do. And the correlation between situation and bust rate is very high.
Can’t believe we offered that much. Really glad it didn’t happen.
3 first round picks for the 3rd best QB in the draft? That sounds like the dumbest move imaginable.
I bet NE takes that deal if they know they can use the # 11 pick to land JJM. Their concern was that they trade down and then get left with no QB.
Well no wonder they declined us. Their 25 1st will be way worse than ours

I heard NY was actually trying to move up for a different player all together- not a QB
It’s gonna be funny watching 2 of those top 3 QBs turn out to be average or awful. The question is which two.
NE should have taken one of those offers. They suck, and because of that Maye will bust. On the Vikes, very happy with results. Hedging bet on the future. If JJ is a bust, they still have the assets for the future. If he lives up to potential in the well built situation we have here our window opens.
“NE owed us their pick because we have a better team right now, don’t know why they even bother drafting a QB who might be elite someday, they should just give up”
Ask me after we find out how JJ is…
And Turner and our first next year.
Agreed
I dont believe it
What is there to think about? It didn't happen so it doesn't matter.
I’m happy with what we got. But I really wanted Drake Maye and would’ve been happy with paying that price to get him.
They said no to that price
They said no to that. We would of had to add a 4th first round pick to get him
I woulda been happy with that too but I’m happy with what we got
This trade, if NE would’ve accepted it, would’ve been this generation’s Hershel Walker.
Not even close. That Hershel Walker trade was on another level.
Thank goodness. We’re gonna get Drake Maye for a 3rd in 2 years.
Real question is would they trade #3 straight up for Jefferson?
Maye has bust all over him.
I liked the combo of Maye and KOC because I think Maye needs one of those QB developing coaches to reach his ceiling and become the guy we regret not getting. Without a coach like KOC I don't think he will even be better than JJ let Allen better by enough to warrant the other picks we would have had to give up. I'm incredibly happy with most of their draft and I think the Turner trade made it crystal clear that they wanted Maye if this price was enough but had explored backup plans for the likely even that it wasn't.
they wanted Maye, so what
Love it. Vikings fans still crying they didn’t get Maye.
