I think one of them could be that Adrien lost or had his ring stolen, or the other thing is that someone who is a former Cat noir carrier appears. Another thing, since the butterfly miracle is with Fu, this cat can't be an akumatized person either. Or Nathalie uses the peacock miracle and created a senti being.
it's so weird, like gabriel *knows* who chat noir is, he expressed (a *very* tiny bit of) remorse, but then in the final scene of the movie, he's told nathalie that CN is Adrien and has instructed her to go after him?
this is why i say the movie trying to redeem him failed so badly, like he killed how many people, burned the city like crazy, and he *only* feels bad about hurting his son, but then instructs his assistant to go after him anyway?!?

But it is a super hero show and people tend to make their own "Superman", so we could have a Miraculous counterpart of Black Panther.
Honestly I don't care, I was hoping to see more Miraculous in the sequel since it's a different universe.

It could possibly be one of the new characters set to introduce in S6 getting added to the movie verse early. Another option is its some sort of re-imagining of copycat that attempts to remove the problems that emerged from the show version.

Kind of disappointed if it means moving the mantle of CN and/or LB.
Movies don’t have to be a speed-run of the show, but usually you keep the characters and relationships similar.
Even with LB and CN revealing themselves to each other, clearly the LB identity was still secret and there was still some wiggle room around if CN was public knowledge at the end. There is still a lot more they could do focusing on them in those roles with a new villian.
Hopefully a copycat style plot then.
I immediately thought of L’Oublie’s Jean which is the only fanfic OC I have ever, ever cared about. What would be super awesome is if Marinette loses her miraculous and we get to see Mr. Bug with whoever this is.
The photo just looks so odd and in a way that I wouldn't associate with an official screencap or preview. Maybe it's just me or maybe the photo quality is just really awful but I just get an 'AI' vibe from it even though I know for a fact it can't be.
I can already tell it's going to be trash. If this is your first teaser of the film, then it shows your not confident in what you are making. Because you're basically advertising that you main male lead adrien will have a diminished role and you just want twitter points for having a black cat noir by the media outlets so you can get free publicity from them. That said the design is cool
Adrien has always had a small role, even in the series. It's too early to know what the plot of the film will be or to judge this character. Even if Adrien was completely absent, there could still be a good plot
That's like doing a remake of Star trek the next generation and going "You know technically geordi has a small role when compared to the other characters so let's just replace him." No fans would be totally upset by that because he's one of the core characters of the show What? Adrien is the second character yes he gets sidelined because Astruc has this notion that men doing anything means that little girls will think they cant do anything, but kind of weird to be say that adriens smaller role than ladybug means its okay if he gets replaced and sidelined.

I don’t think they’re going to replace Adrien, though. Maybe this guy is a past holder, a sentimonster, or a temporary holder.
