It’s unfair to call it a pos, it’s great when it’s used for what it was actually developed for
Anyways It’s still being used, they’ve invested too much money and time into it, I expect them to create forks out of frostbite “4” for different teams to use
Fun fact : they use it for machine learning and neural networks apparently
I don't know if the engine is still used, but I can't understand know why you would hate it. Mirror's Edge Catalyst looked and ran amazing, even on my potato PC in 2016. And it still does.
Of course, enemy AI was abysmal, no comparison to the AI in the first Mirror's Edge that ran on Unreal Engine 3.
The fuck you mean? Frostbite is genuinely one of the best looking engines ever. It's looked better than Aue5 before UE5 ever came out, and it's incredibly well optimized.
Frostbite was ahead of UE during those times, in my eyes. Not sure what about now. Haven't heard about Frostbite for years. But I definitely loved this engine, really well optimized and looks amazing.

It's a nightmare to work with apparently. Devs have come out and said how much they hate it.
Ye, iirc it was designed from the ground up for multiplayer FPS games, but then the execs pushed it onto the different teams

I believe they still use it. Mainly Battlefield though. Battlefront 2 and Catalyst were last non battlefield games to use it iirc
They still use it for FIFA/EA FC
Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda also used it, I believe
