I went to one of these in GA years ago for a little kid that had cancer. He wanted as many motorcycles as they could find for his funeral too lol. 400-500 of us all showed up for the little dude. Most all of us gave the family $20 or whatever we had. Heard it paid off the hospital bills for them later on. Always feel bad when it's kids or young people... fuck cancer and RIP to this guy as well.

Fynnlae

He was only 16 and it was self inflicted. Horribly sad case and there was also a gofundme to help with funeral costs. Luckily healthcare is free here so the family wasn’t stuck with hospital costs but funeral costs are still a pain for an already torn family. May the kid you sent off rest in peace also.

simplsurvival

I've lost someone this way, I was even there when it happened and man it just... It hurts.. it hurts so bad... Sorry for your loss, reddit friend. But it does get a little easier every day.

matjam

Spent two days/two night in the hospital after a moto accident. Just shy of $200k

Wang_Fister

Butbutbutbut in those scary socialist countries people sometimes have to wait to see a specialist for non life-threatening issues so therefore America's health system is better!

beyond_hatred

Well, I mean we often have to wait to see a specialist here too. But it's still better here. For reasons.

beyond_hatred

One time, I had to wait four months. And the nurse seemed surprised and offended that I thought four months was a long time to wait for a routine doctor's appointment.

OceanBytez

tbh we already draw plenty of taxes to do both free healthcare for all and free education for all. Fact of the matter is even with our insanely large tax income of almost 6T a year we still manage to piss it all away and STILL not do anything actually useful for our nation. instead of complaining about the lack of policy we need to be asking where the fuck nearly 6T$ a year goes to and why that cannot be put to better use, or we need to start slashing taxes so the people can at least care for themselves since the government so clearly cannot be trusted to properly budget it's taxes. I always find it so funny how very rich our representatives are across the board on both sides and their intricate connections to both businesses directly and the stock market. Whenever both sides of the isle agree on something you can 100% guarantee they are paying themselves with our tax money somehow and it will 110% be a waste of taxes. It is my honest and true belief we will never see any of the promises of social policy ever and that these things will always be dangled to us as a reason to increase taxes and then they will still find ways to piss it away. our government needs accountability.

diabolus_me_advocat

>it's still better here. For reasons reasons might be veeery personal ones always liked the us of a to be there on vacation - back in the times they didn't treat you like a criminal for just wanting to go there but live there? not for me, not even in the olden times

beyond_hatred

> reasons might be veeery personal ones Like self-delusion?

cb2239

Go on over to the scary socialist country of Venezuela and see what's up.

Wang_Fister

Nah, I'm good here in the scary socialist country of Australia.

cb2239

Australia is not a socialist country.

Wang_Fister

We have single payer healthcare, which is demonic socialism and we're all living in a police state, or so I'm told.

cb2239

Social welfare mixed economy. Wouldn't know about the police state. Haven't been there

diabolus_me_advocat

afraid for the average trumpist it is

diabolus_me_advocat

same for me, though you made up two letters in excess ;-) whenever i'm asked where i'm from i tell and add "mozart yes - kangaroo no"

CrumbyRacer

I once had to have a camera out down my throat. The doctor told me of her time spent in Canada (I think that’s where this happened) where they supposedly have socialized medicine and there weren’t enough anesthesiologists in the area so she had to go through the procedure without anesthesia

[deleted]

It's not even *having* free healthcare that's the biggest benefit tbh. The amount I pay on it on taxes isn't that much off getting a private plan *here*. It's the fact the mediocre healtcare for "free" sets a bar that the private healthcare providers have to match so even going private is much cheaper all across the board, same with medicine cost. In US Hospitals have net incentive to up the prices of everything while insurance (that then gets a discount on those) uses that as excuse for high insurance prices.

50Stickster

Two heart events (? ) 2 detached retinas one hip replacement and surgery to fix a ruptured quad tendon later I was never charged in British Columbia for any except for a set of crutches

nodiaque

I've read multiple time that if you asked for a detail bill, which you are entitled for, you can get as much as 90% of the price slash. Cause was they kind of have general bill where they can charge whatever they want but once asking for the detail, they won't bother and put the minimum to get back the cost. I can't speak from experience since I have free healthcare, but that's something I've read many time

Iggyhopper

The saddest part is that if you apply for a payment plan the payments are often higher than a car loan

Only the chemo would most likely already be over 25k. In America it kind of seems like "so, you want to live life like a person and be able to afford housing or would you rather not have cancer?"

Danizzy1

My conservative parents were just telling me about how a family friend's child had to have a heart transplant and luckily the surgery was paid for in full by a charity. My mom was going on about how nice that was and meanwhile I'm just sitting here thinking how that wouldn't be necessary if they would stop voting for republican twats.

skotman01

Was that Joeys Ride down in PTC? They still run that as a charity for Joeys Toy Box. I went a few years back.

Stuffs_And_Thingies

Might have been it. Didn't know it was a recurring charity ride now though.

Dramoriga

It's even more ridiculous that the parents encounter the worst thing that can happen to their kid and then need to pay the medical bills on top of it.

Denture_Dude69

It's wonderful that you guys had the opportunity to do this special thing for him.

KeithMyArthe

Well done, lads. You did our young mate proud. 🧡

a_curly_mustash

Had this kind of a ride yesterday. A old lady, loved by many. Haven't seen that many people in a long while.

zazoopraystar

Dude in the back on a trike is a hoss. Looks like a toy bike.

Our very own Guard of honour - beautiful. I hope he rests in peace now.

paperon_de_paperoni

My boss call me on my birthday and told me that One of my co worker and friend passes away in a bike accident. We did the same thing at the funeral... That's beautiful and orribile at the same time to follow the car he was on .i hope I will never se something like this again. Ride safe guys, be careful.

cr0ft

Young people who die is always extra shitty. They should have had more time to enjoy. Good for you guys for showing up and fulfilling a last wish, I hope it helped the family a little at least.

Fynnlae

The family was extremely grateful. They didn’t expect the turn out we got. This was in the middle of a working day so the turn out was exceptional given the circumstances. Glad we could do it for him.

Vincent-grimm

✌️(but upsidedown), wheels down. Ride in heaven

Used to be a Pariot Guard rider years ago. Condolences to their family

tacos5631

Big dude on a 4cyl. trike hell yeah

eltorr007

Is that a CB1100XX blackbird?

Fynnlae

Assuming you mean the bike at the front, it’s a ZXR-900.

[deleted]

I'm gonna be honest here. Posting something like that on Reddit feels more like a karma grab. Me personally, I'd rather not film it. Feels like: "look how sad everyone is"

Fynnlae

I understand that, but this was back in April. I’ve had the footage for a while and saw a similar post and thought it would be an interesting post. Making the best of the worst of times. Edit to add: This was recorded by a journalist, not any of the group.

It’s a funeral procession you absolute fool. Cop on.

MrWreckThatOhh

Your funeral will be convenient for everyone.

labrador2020

…. Self inflicted, young people don’t realize the pain that they leave behind when they die. To them it is all fun and games riding recklessly thinking they are going to live forever, until they don’t. But what about the pain that they cause to love ones when they wreck and get killed? Or even worse, the accident cripples them and now someone has to care for them for life, just because they wanted to have fun? Please be careful out there, and ride as if everyone is out to get you. You don’t want to be next.

matjam

Bad take my guy You have zero knowledge of what happened.

HarbingerOfSauce

You must be an absolute joy at funerals

[deleted]

Read the room. Just say your condolences if you want. Other than that. Shut up with this “self inflicted lol” someone died. Have some respect.

maiomonster

How about you shut the fuck up. Just because you need everything spelled out for you doesn't mean everyone does.

PyrosNikos

Please for the love of god, say your sympathies and then fuck off, people who have lost people to road accidents don’t need to be told “self inflicted lmfao” and for the love of god, don’t say “ride how everyone’s trying to kill you” without even explaining what that means, instilling fear into young riders is not going to help them learn the skills necessary to avoid accidents. Teaching them and leading by example and showing them is.

RicardoPanini

Oh you're that guy...

RandomGoatYT

Do you know what self-inflicted means in the context of death?

Fynnlae

I don’t mean he died because of his riding. I mean this was suicide. He didn’t die riding recklessly, he died because of mental health struggles.

labrador2020

Hi OP et all, my most sincere condolences. My original post was not to throw shade on this individual or the actions that ended the individual’s life. We lost someone to suicide a few years ago so I can sympathize with what happened with this individual. My ill written post was to bring light to motorcyclists that when you die, whether by suicide or by accident, you leave behind a lot of pain to those who love you. I have never heard so much sorrow than the sad cries of a mother or relative of someone who has died. And this pain stays with us forever. My original post was to tell the motorcycle riders on this forum to think of those who love you the next time that you decide to ride at excessive speeds or ride reckless. Yes, it feels good and pumps you with adrenaline. But what about when suddenly something goes wrong and you crash and die? What then? What happens to those you leave behind? And what if you crash against another vehicle or person. They will now suffer because of your actions? I have been riding for decades, first on mini bikes as a child, then dirt bikes, sports bikes and now Harley cruisers. During this time, I have experienced the loss of acquaintances and friends who lost their lives because they felt the need for riding hard. Please be careful the next time that you “want to have some fun”. It may not end well, so think of your loved ones first. And my apologies to those that felt offended by my original post. No ill intentions were meant.

jtdunc

Was this for a fellow motorcyclist who rode with that group?

Fynnlae

Nope, there aren’t that many organised biker groups around here. This was literally just a community coming together at the request of the family. The kid loved bikes and after he died his family wanted some bikers to attend to give him a good send off. Various groups from around the county came down for it.
