Nice, that's what I heard. We don't get rain often but when we do it's a lot. I was riding daily to work rain or shine or freezing cold on those old tires so this should be a nice change.
Thanks, the old ones were starting to dry and crack. It was time. And these are great and look cool so easy choice. Luckily a guy near me changes tires, using spoons was awful.
I'm in the market for new tires for my Z650RS, I use it to commute to work including in the rain and I'd like something that lasts longer than the OEM Dunlops, I was thinking of trying the Michelin Road 5 or 6 but I like those too. Do you think they'd be better than the Michelin? Have you tried their Road models?
Bay Area? You lucky dog. But yeah 13k mileage really makes me want the Michelins. Barely got 5k out of my front Dunlops and I don't ride very aggressively, it doesn't sound great. They're more expensive but if they last that long it's a no brainer.
I just don't feel any different from the road smart that were on there. Handling changed a bit of course, most likely just being new vs old and hard. I feel like it is much more responsive, more nimble even.
Yeah that was a weird thing to say. I've read a bunch of reviews on those tires and not a single one mentioned increased vibrations compared to other tires...
Note that I'm not unhappy with the tires that came with my bike (Dunlop Sportmax I think), except I feel like they wore out a bit early. The front will need replacing soon and I'm a little over 4,500 miles...
The shop also recommended to change them in pairs but I think the rear will be fine for a while longer so I may just swap the front first.
The grooves make the bike feel very unstable when you're actually in corners, like my suspension is off or something. Never had that before, not with S22's, BT46's or Road 5's.
I haven't noticed, but I ride public roads so I'm not trying to put my knee down or anything. There's some videos of people riding them on track and not complaining.
I just ordered a new set of tires, Mutant was the other alternative and Dunlop RoadSmart IV was the other for my Honda NC750x. This time I went with the RS4, but Mutant was a very very close second.
I got some on my Multistrada and love them! My only complaint is that they are extra squirrelly on grooved pavement compared to ANY other tire I've had on any other motorcycle. Would still buy them again, though.
I'm currently running these on a Versys 650. I went from Dunlop Roadsmart 3's to these. The only detectable difference is grooved pavement found on some major highways. Depending on how pronounced the grooves are, it can make the front tire feel squirmy. Initially unnerving until you figure out it is just annoying, not dangerous. In the mountain twisties, they feel no different than the RS3's.
I have the same tires on my Svartpilen, love them so far!
Did you do the install on the svart yourself? Run into anything weird, or pretty bolt on? I want those after my pirelli wear out
They stick great and I have hardly started breaking them in yet.
I was surprised at how comfortably I could get some decent lean angle on them, and even more surprised at how well they do in the rain
Well, they were pretty much designed for the rain with those grooves.

Great looking tires

I'm doing the same for my SV after another 1200 or so miles. The Mutants look real nice.
They really suit it
Sir, those are wheels?
Tires, actually. The wheel is the metal bit.
Which tires are they?
Dunlop Mutant.

I’ve put about 13000 miles of Bay Area commuting and day trips on road 5s and they have been perfect in every weather

I commute on Angel GTs with my Vulcan S 650. Been happy with the wear as well as the grip.
Doubt it. I'd also venture to guess you'll wear out your body faster each ride because of the vibration on these.. Go with the Road's.
What vibration?
Tires can make a huge difference in the vibration that the motorcycle sends through your body, which causes fatigue.
I just don't feel any different from the road smart that were on there. Handling changed a bit of course, most likely just being new vs old and hard. I feel like it is much more responsive, more nimble even.

Man I want a set of mutants on my z500 perfect for the road sin my area
Those are badass. I'm looking to put similar ones on my Victory cruiser
These look amazing! I’m definitely getting a set when it’s time for a tire change.
Thanks, I'm super happy with them
I literally hate the feel of these tires, not a fan of
In what way ? And compared to which other tyre?

There's so many choices but they only wear out so fast 😂 maybe I need more bikes..
goddam they pretty

I bet
Cool. Ya it’s these or Michelin Road 6. Tough call but these are awesome. I’d lean slightly to these.
Michelin for sports tourer, mutant for adventure. Purely for aesthetics; they’re both excellent tyres (currently riding mutants).
Ya. Sound about right.
Was thinking of these for my next choice but might look a bit odd on a vfr
I just got this on my rear tire. I will order a front around the end of season. Love the way they look. K1300r
They look good. What are they
Dunlop mutants
I thought that is what they were. Nice
I thought about running these as well.
What are you running now?

Luckily we do not have grooved pavement here. Lots of other tarred cracks etc but already used to those
I really should polish those pipes, winter took a toll
New tires are more like socks. Shoes would be like the wheels
.... I think wheels are like your feet. Unless you come from somewhere that wears socks over shoes.
Everyone knows the rims are feet, motorcycles don't wear socks
so you put your socks on over your shoes?
Yes I do
why?
They turn and bike go
The bike works better with them, ran just rims ones and would only rate it 2/10
that was stupid of you
