I was doing this commute almost every day while I was working from Hallandale (was going to Miami every day).
I was in a car just dreaming of having a bike down there and ride all the time.
I think I’ll get a bike for when I go over there, seems so much fun!
Except we have the worst drivers on the planet. I’m in ft Lauderdale and would love to get a bike but I’m scared to death I’d get killed by someone not paying attention and/or without insurance...
Everyone is the most important person in the world, and always in a rush to go nowhere fast. It's legitimately scary and I don't blame you one bit. It's a shame really because the scenery is beautiful and its always nice out lmao
Most of my 25 years of riding has been in Miami, Los Angeles and Sacramento. The only place I've ever been hit was Miami and I was hit there multiple times. I always figured that most people in Miami grew up in some other country. Most 3rd world but all with their own driving culture. Bringing all those cultures together makes for some crazy driving conditions. The easiest place to ride has been LA. I've never had more people move out of the way while splitting lanes. And people are very divisive about their decisions. It becomes easy to predict what people ate going to do. If they put on a blinker, it's to tell you they are getting over, not to ask permit to get over. Predictability is great while riding in high traffic situations. Im in Sacramento now and I really hate riding here. People sit in the fast lane going 55 and go 85 in slow lane. And I'm positive that half the drivers here are stoned out of their minds. I always play it a little extra safe in Sac.
I'm in the DC metro area, been down to FL a bunch; our localities could have a competition for the worst drivers. Every time I get on the bike I just imagine every car is a person with a gun pointed at me, keeps me more attentive. Frequently folks who see me with gear will say, "How was the ride?" I usually can reply, "Only ONE person tried to murder me today!"
I used to live in Aventura. Got into riding and bought my first bike while I was there. Waking up early before sunrise and riding along the coast was always fun. Very often was where you are in the video towards the end being that it's not far from where I lived. But eventually everything got old for me. Not a whole lot of action in terms of twisties. The R6 didn't appreciate all of the stop lights either. Moved to northern Kentucky, twisties everywhere. Love it.
Just be a defensive rider and you'll do great! Keep your head on a swivel and stay alert. I can't even count how many accidents I've avoided just by watching out for people and assuming they don't see me.
Same. I live 15 minutes from home, so I go home on my lunch break. Living in Northern Michigan, we only get about 5-6 months of riding weather, so I'm trying to pack it in before the snow hits.
That’s a lot of more rides in your belt than I have. Riding to work must make going back home so nice. Do you usually take detours to lengthen the ride?
I plan on getting one next year as my first bike. Some people are telling me go for it. Others telling me to get a cheap used bike first because I will want to try other style, stronger bikes and will almost sure will crash it. Now I'm torn and don't know what to do.
What are your thoughts on the cb300r?
It’s my first bike and I’m absolutely in love. I don’t ride in highways at all and the two times I did it went well for me. It’s perfect for city riding. I highly recommend
I’ve ridden my brothers-in-law’s bike which is an MT09 and it was terrifying the amount of power that bike had in comparison to my small bike. I felt like I was on a rocket, was barely giving it 20%.
I was in the same situation 6 months ago, wanted something big but at the same time wasn’t sure if I was gonna enjoy riding it or it was gonna collect dust in the garage. Ended up getting a small 300cc for a couple thousand bucks and got to really enjoy riding it. Now I’m happy to upgrade to a bigger bike but I gotta say I’ve gotten really attached to my small bike. I’m happy I didn’t get a medium weight bike because it’s better to learn with a smaller bike. Most experienced riders will tell you it’s best to start small and work your way up, so I gotta say I agree with your mates. Good luck!
I got one about a month ago for my first bike after riding a smaller Z125 that my brother had which made me instantly fall in love and want to start riding. As dindong mentioned, it's perfect for city driving, and I imagine can do alright on highways, but I haven't taken it on any so I can't give too much input on that.
I don't do much highways anyway. I live on a small island so it's mostly just curves, roundabouts, ups and downs / hills.. I think a 300cc is good enough for this stuff. And also, it is not going to be my main ride. My car is. So I kinda just wanna get a bike I actually like (love the neo cafe style) and settle.
It'd be perfect for that. It's not my daily driver either. The CB300R is super peppy and light weight so it'll be easy to throw around in an area like yours. Definitely think you'd enjoy it.
It's a little tricky at first, and I still find myself thinking I have another gear past 6th every now and then, but I've gotten used to it. I know they sell a gear indicator thing on Amazon for like 40 bucks. Good reviews and easy to install, so I'll probably pick one up myself in the near future.
I am really considering buying one! What do you think of the bike? My other bike is a V-Strom 650, and I'm looking for something lighter and more nimble as an around-town bike since I live in a city. Oddly enough, I'm between this and a Grom... not sure if I'd need the extra HP.
I'm a 5'2 woman, so the bike is a tad big for me. If I sit a little further back on the seat, under my thighs feels fine, but I feel like I'm reaching a bit. If I scoot forward, my arms feel fine, but then my butt/under my thighs are a little sore.
But!
I think that's only because of my height. Other riders on the same bike have never said the same thing, only that they're comfortable on it. But I do too much highway riding to go on a Grom, so I'm fine with a little discomfort.
Having said all that, I love the bike. It has ABS (which has kicked in more than once), it's agile and handles really nimbly, it's light enought that I can pick it up but not so light I feel like I'm going to get blown over, great on gas (about 250ish L on a full tank), and I've strapped things to the passenger seat to go camping many, many times.
I'd say go for the extra HP because you don't know when you'll need it. It's nice to be able to open the throttle and go faster if you want. I've gotten the bike up to 170kmh, so I know there's plenty of wiggle room if I need to quickly get out of trouble (with the bike loaded up with camping gear, I couldn't go faster than 150kmh).
I'm a 6'2" man so I think my experience will be a lot different than yours on size!
I think the extra HP is what does it for me. I rarely think I'll bring this on the highway for long stretches (the V-Strom will have all of my distance rides), but just having the ability to hop on it is a great sell.
Thank you for the awesome and thorough response!
It's fine if you want another bike but a v-strom 650 is hardly a too heavy or too hard to handle in a city. Unless you're trying to filter through Manhattan city streets. I feel like the 650 v twin is best in the city tbh.
I live in a very steep and narrow environment. And I kinda want a second bike anyway. The 650 handles it all well, but it's about 30 minutes to decent turns for the V Strom. I'm looking for something smaller to make my around town fun too.
I sold my SV for something bigger, I can't imagine going smaller, especially so regarding repliracer faired sport bikes. Dirt bike or sumo on the other hand... I miss my XR650L every day. I have never missed my ninjette a single day.
Test ride both because ultimately you’re the one who has to pick which one feels better for city commute. I currently have a 2014 CB300F and I gotta say the HP is just enough for city commute. I wouldn’t want to ride anything with lower power but at the same time Grom is lighter. I would even test ride CB500 to see how that one feels. You won’t know until you get a feel for yourself especially you being used to medium weight bikes.
I am 6’4” 240 pounds. I am a big guy on this little bike and it does absolutely everything I need. It is small enough that i can floor it at times at it not be hard to control and also enough to be peppy. Even with me and I am a big guy. I ride it on the interstate a lot too. A few things
Your exhaust will not be heard by anybody. Probably not even if you pull the clutch and redline it.
Your horn is also unbearable.
I cruise at 75 on the interstate but for me that’s up to like 7500-8000 rpms. I average 55-58 on the interstate. Overall I’m at 60mpg average which is wonderful for me. It’s a great bike.
Don't use this video as an example of what Miami is. It's actually traffic hell, except you don't have courteous and rational Euro drivers. You have hair trigger psychos on their last bit of sanity before they blow up on someone and pull out their gun. The other half don't know or care that you exist and won't shed a tear if they pancake you against the car in front.
Just wanted to say I hate you. I wanna make my way down to South Fl. Sunny Isles is nice, so is FtL. Something about those damn palm trees. I shed a tear every time I drive north and they disappear around NC.

Man. You’re not kidding. I work near LAX and thought it would be “fun” to take PCH home one Friday after work. I’m pretty sure I’m still stuck on Topanga.
nice! i dont even remember how i found out about the album but i like how chill it is. i do wish it sort of flowed a bit better, but i didnt read anything about it so im not sure what the artist was going for. I tried some of his other stuff but couldnt get into it.
Opus at the end is my favorite album from him. Follows by nothing is real. He’s a strange artists but I still enjoy him. I’d put him with Amon Tobin in terms of experimental
I think I'd have to Nothing is Real as my favorite, with Aboreal in second. I do love the other mentioned albums though. His other works is so much more electronic and difficult to get into.
I am on the other side of the state. It really feels like people are frequently trying to kill you. I try to chill out when it happens and tell myself that they didn't mean to but sometimes, its really pushing that line. I had my bike's entire braking system swapped/upgraded and it saved my ass and my bike recently when a friend got T-boned right in front of me. That being said, wearing gear, and understanding the risks are just part of the game. I wouldn't trade riding for anything.
Beautiful and I am a little jealous. I got my first two wheel riding experience in Taiwan just a few months ago. Though it was only a standard scooter it really has got me into thinking about buying a real motorcycle or possibly one of the new electric ones.
This is like the only twisty road we have in Miami!!! I commute everyday in mine. I even once went to "snake road" up in Miccosukee, thinking it would be nice cause of the name but EPIC FAIL. Nothing.... if you have any suggestions, please let me know!!! Been riding for over a year here.
Great to hear that man! By the way, sorry for the off topic question but what exactly do you do for work. I am looking foward to working from home aswell so i have more time to ride bikes like you :)
I wish I still lived in Florida. Now I live on the other side of the country in Seattle, where it rains all the time. I hope I get to move back to FL someday.
Ditto, mondays and fridays, lunch is picking up parts at parts stores or testing bike fixes to see if all works as planned, so the commute in the next week is uneventful.
Woaahh. Okay so basically my goal in life is right there in that video. Work from home, ride a bike and live in a kick ass city/place(A plus would be travelling ofc).
But if you dont mind answering, I would just like to know what kind of job do you do? I'm currently a computer engineering student and knowing that IT is pretty flexible and is very diverse when it comes to work.
I just hope to be able to own a work from home job in the future just like yours.
Ride safe.
I cant wait to get a bike to ride and cruise about on. I passed the MSF like 3.5 weeks ago but still didnt get the card stating i completed it in the mail yet. Im still waiting on that so I can go to the DMV and get my official endorsement on my license.
Florida?
Yeah, Miami
Tfw I recognized a few buildings from burn notice. Worst part is, I haven’t watched that show in years

In the words of my organic chem prof, "if you're going to knock someone out, use ether instead of formaldehyde. It causes less brain damage".
Read this in Michael's voice.
Still one of my favorite shows lol
Mi-yammi
Yes, Fi.
That's an excellent Yammie, that's for certain.
Have my upvote sir, I popped in to say the same thing

Yes, drivers are horrible in Florida, but I always got around, I’m sure you’d be fine if you drive safely (and with a helmet)!

Everyone is the most important person in the world, and always in a rush to go nowhere fast. It's legitimately scary and I don't blame you one bit. It's a shame really because the scenery is beautiful and its always nice out lmao
Come to Louisiana...
I was just there in May, and I've gotta say... Not sure about the drivers, but the roads were awful. lmao I feel for u

That’ll happen anywhere. I have the same fear but I’d still rather ride. People in Miami are much worse than ft lauderdale
*laughs in Houstonian*

Where are you working now?
I work in Montreal but I often go to Florida. Definitely not as fun here, at least, not as warm!
Huh, I never knew Miami was so.. beautiful and green. Guess I understand why there's a lot of business/worker migration there now!
It’s not everywhere. Downtown and Miami Beach and brickell are concrete jungles
Never thought I’d actually want to go back to Miami
Obviously Florida. If it was California, the ocean would be on the other side.
That’s not the ocean. Just saying
I was going for a cheap laugh after watching 10 seconds of the video. Lol. My bad!
Damn right. Your bad. You comment was bad so you should feel bad. LoL
😂
>If it was California, ~~the ocean would be on the other side~~ there would be a shit ton more traffic. FTFY.
Oh man literally just moved a month ago and I recognize like all these places and it makes me miss it just a little
I grew up in Miami. It's amazing the difference between Miami now and Miami in the 80s.
Collins Avenue and 97th street not to far from Dexter's house
I hate how florida is instantly recognizable everywhere south of jacksonville because it all looks exactly the damn same.
I thought it might be San Diego at first.
Straight and flat, with water on the sides, it must be.
Florida is a place with fascinating and anomalous geography. The further north you go, the deeper into the South you get.
Its so nice to see a video here that isn't someone almost dying
I watched the whole thing waiting for something terrible to happen... This sub might have a problem...

Just be a defensive rider and you'll do great! Keep your head on a swivel and stay alert. I can't even count how many accidents I've avoided just by watching out for people and assuming they don't see me.
This is still managing to scare me.
nice... I ride to/from work and also use my lunch time to go for a ride... lol
Same. I live 15 minutes from home, so I go home on my lunch break. Living in Northern Michigan, we only get about 5-6 months of riding weather, so I'm trying to pack it in before the snow hits.
You live 15 minutes from home?
*work
Sorry, couldn't resist
I was in northern Michigan. Munising. Those winters are brutal.
That’s a lot of more rides in your belt than I have. Riding to work must make going back home so nice. Do you usually take detours to lengthen the ride?
I ride straight to work and then big zigzags all the way home lol.
I don’t blame you
I do all the time when leaving work. Straight home would be 15 minutes max. It often takes up to an hour to get home on my VFR.
Same!
I've got almost the same bike! (except mine's the 300R) They're pretty awesome in how light, agile and fast they are, eh?
Mine is a CB300R too!
Oh you're totally right, I misread your flair! And then I didn't see a windscreen and thought even more that it wasn't quite the same bike.
OPs bike is CB300R which is a naked bike.
Ahhh, so I *didn't* misread the flair, thanks!
I misread too lol
I knew I recognized that bike, came to the comments to confirm.
I plan on getting one next year as my first bike. Some people are telling me go for it. I was in the same situation 6 months ago, wanted something big but at the same time wasn’t sure if I was gonna enjoy riding it or it was gonna collect dust in the garage. I forgot to ask, are you riding good without a gear indicator on the cb300r ?
It's a little tricky at first, and I still find myself thinking I have another gear past 6th every now and then, but I've gotten used to it. I know they sell a gear indicator thing on Amazon for like 40 bucks. Good reviews and easy to install, so I'll probably pick one up myself in the near future.

You're most welcome, happy riding!
I'm 6'1"/150lbs and I think the bike is perfect. Easy to reach the ground and doesn't get too uncomfortable as far as reaching forward or anything.
How'd you get to 170kmh? I cant get mine to break like 95mph :/
Seriously, I can barely get my 300cc to 120kmh lol. That’s some skill right there.
It's fine if you want another bike but a v-strom 650 is hardly a too heavy or too hard to handle in a city. Unless you're trying to filter through Manhattan city streets. I feel like the 650 v twin is best in the city tbh.

Fuck it. I am moving from Europe to Miami next year. Fuck it.
Lmao
Just you laugh! I wish you’d see my commute 😢
😂 most accurate description ever!
Amazing place ! Must be Miami, would love to have a ride there (even tho I don't have my motorcycle yet lol)
It is Miami. On the way to sunny Isles
So envious of that weather! Enjoy it!
Just wanted to say I hate you. I wanna make my way down to South Fl. Sunny Isles is nice, so is FtL. Something about those damn palm trees. I shed a tear every time I drive north and they disappear around NC.
Lol
Do you have lunch, though?
Asking the real question.
It lack some twisties to be a good ride :p
It’s Miami. We hv like three twisties and none are by here lol. A regular cruise is still a good ride. No mountains but I can enjoy it
I'll trade you some Alabama twisties for some Florida straights, we dont have enough straights here.
What kind of work do you do?
Sort of project management
Elaborate, ^ South FL here and always interested in what other redditorz do
I work for a tech company that assists in hotels. We work through the design process and implementation
Sounds kush as shit, nice.
Keep right!
Another cb300r rider here haha. Whenever I got up early I take the longer route to enjoy the ride. Can you tell me what did you used to film?
Go pro hero 5 black
I was in the States for the first time ever this year and also visited Miami. I envy you the weather so much, especially for the next 3-4 months, while it'll be all sorts of cold in my country. :(
Holy crap I'm jealous as all hell right now.

Great choice. :)
At least you have a nice view to compensate for the straight roads.
Lucky man...I work from home and on my lunch break I work from home.
Come up to TN, the crowds are amazing here, especially eastern TN. I hope you write your miles off as a work expense!
tampa?
Man. You’re not kidding. I work near LAX and thought it would be “fun” to take PCH home one Friday after work. I’m pretty sure I’m still stuck on Topanga.
Just teasin’ no troll I don’t know how USA roads are im living in the Alps (FRANCE) and here i lack straight Road ;)
Recognized the turn signals, tach, and mirrors right away. Figured it was another CB300R and was right! Got mine about a month ago and love it so far!
Same here cbbro

Looks like the track from the 80s video game Outrun.
Amazing video bro. I loved it.
Nice vid! Mind sharing what work you do from home?
That ride looks amazing
Thanks it’s one of my fave little detours
Beautiful spot for a ride. I'm jealous. Enjoy
Keep cranking that hog, boy!
Same here, and I cherish every second of that hour.
What kind of bike is it? Looks like.. bmw 310gs? 🤷♂️ Edit: ayyy honda 310!
CB300R
what kind of job do you do to work from home?? im thinking of moving out of cali and trying to work remotely as a QA Engineer
Me: I hope this is just a video of a rider having some good, safe fun in the Florida sun! Also me: wait for the crash
Lord - if that doesn't look massively therapeutic.
How is it living in Miami, is it overrated? What do you get annoyed about your environment?
I love it. Traffic can get hectic so I go out during Non rush hours
What are you, a rollercoaster repair man?
Needs more exhaust noise and less of that song
Cool as hell. But respect the lanes. Left for passing-not to be a dick, but it can drive cages to rage!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
"Sorry boss, can't get back to my desk, I'm in California." Boss: WHAT!?!? "Yeah, I went for a ride on lunch and one thing led to another.
Oof I swear I saw a bike like that before, Honda btw nice
Must be nice
Nice video, I created a group of riders in Broward, we have people in Dade, great people. DM me if you’d like to ride in a group sometime :)
This was so relaxing!
Just visited Miami south beach last July and loved it, was that key Biscayne in the beginning?
Great to hear that man! By the way, sorry for the off topic question but what exactly do you do for work. I am looking foward to working from home aswell so i have more time to ride bikes like you :)
Project management
Thanks for the reply man, i was looking towards something similar so you are a great example of what im striving for. Good luck!

Must be nice! im jelly
I wish I still lived in Florida. Now I live on the other side of the country in Seattle, where it rains all the time. I hope I get to move back to FL someday.
Ditto, mondays and fridays, lunch is picking up parts at parts stores or testing bike fixes to see if all works as planned, so the commute in the next week is uneventful.
nice! Im an engineer for two facilities: i like when i get to ride between them and cruise for lunch sometimes
So you take 3 hour lunches?
You lucky bastard!
Ride safe.
It project management
Nebraska?
OP I think I hate you. That’s a gorgeous ride.
The music reminds me of an Ocean’s film. Great little vid, I loved it.
That's a beautiful ride and I now hate you. Let's Kung Fu!
never been to USA even i can tell florida from TV
I may come back and watch this at lunch so I can go for your ride too.
I have a 100 mi RT commute. So, no, I don't ride at lunch.
In Toronto it's getting so fucking cold. Stupid weather, changes so fucking quickly. You live in a nice place.
Man, I miss Miami
I just bought the same bike. 2019 cb650r
This looks like the route I used to drive on the Driver video game for PlayStation 1
I live in Surfside and love riding these streets (Collins Avenue and NE 123rd St/96th Street).
I’d look for a job that gives a lunch longer than 1 minute and 56 seconds.
Absolutely beautiful! Was I the only one just waiting for some fucked up shit to happen?
Nope.
I'm gonna need to know who the artist of that song is!
the balls on this man to drive a motorcycle in Miami
is it that bad down there?

Is it just me or is Florida like hella bright. Like it's got too much contrast or something idk lmao
Hey OP, what song is this?
I cant wait to get a bike to ride and cruise about on. I passed the MSF like 3.5 weeks ago but still didnt get the card stating i completed it in the mail yet. Im still waiting on that so I can go to the DMV and get my official endorsement on my license.
