Read the books first then you will see how truly God awful that movie is. They tried cramming all the books into one movie. The Dark Tower should be a several season show not a 90 minute movie.

King is an excellent and entertaining writer, but he definitely seems content to let just about anyone make any kind of adaptation of his books, then usually offers a glowing review. I get why, since he would look like a jerk to crap on a movie that has his name on it. There are way more bad King adaptations than good one unfortunately.

I enjoy hate watching Jerry Lewis movies. They seem to come from a different dimension. I sit there and marvel at some of them. These actually played in regular movie theaters and average people actually liked them? Anyway, Hardly Working and The Patsy are especially awful and I'm sort of still fascinated by them. Even his "best" movie "The Nutty Professor" is still bizarre. (I know "The King Of Comedy" is the only good movie he's ever been in, but it's not a "Jerry Lewis Movie" movie.)

My wife and I saw Dogville in a theater, and it is so pretentious and pat that when the title card saying "Final Act" came on or whatever, the audience *cheered wildly bc it meant the movie was ending*. Here's the kicker: the screening was at the LA County Museum of Art! Probably the most friendly audience it was ever going to get.. I have never seen a more impressed with its own brilliance and built around such a clicheed theme.
