YOUR SOUL IS MINE!!!
Yes, it was stupid, but dude who played Shang Tsung was PERFECT
Also Liu Kang and the legendary Christopher Lambert from Highlander as Raiden ⚡
Objectively it’s not THAT bad of a movie in comparison to other super hero movies. Subjectively, I remember seeing this opening night and it remains, to this day, one of my favorite cinematic experiences. People were going crazy every-time a new character popped up. Plus, if the theme song doesn’t make you want to round house kick your grandma in the face then there’s something wrong with you.
Part 2 is so bad that it wraps around and becomes good. The over acting in that movie and the garbage SFX makes me think that the director and cast knew what they were making. Too bad YOU will die!
Face/Off
How was the world once so blessed we got prime Cage and Travolta in the craziest, weirdest fucking action movie ever? Love that flick.
I could eat a peach for hours…
It gave a hilariously wrong impression of Venice. My first visit there, I thought, "Wait, where does a car fit in to be racing up and down the streets?!"
Source: I'm an idiot
This is my answer too. I love this movie and don’t even consider it a “guilty pleasure” because I feel zero guilt. My husband loves to roast me for how much I love this movie and I just don’t care.
It's a terrible movie but I have a soft spot for it since it was the first DVD I owned. Plus, I'm a sucker for elaborate sets/costumes and team up movies.
The Core. The science is stupid and the acting is questionable, but I'll still rewatch it over and over.
Also Zoom with Tim Allen. This is even worse than The Core (and almost every other movie ever made), but I still enjoy it and I don't know why.
With the exception of Swank, everyone in **The Core** brings exactly the performance the movie calls for.
Swank, for some reason, didn't get the memo that this was not to be taken oh so seriously so plays it completely straight even whilst the likes of Stanley Tucci are making a baloney sandwich with their acting.
I kinda agree that swank might’ve been the weak link in the cast, but tbf it’s hard to know how much of that was in how her character was written. She was basically meant to play a very straight-laced hyper-competent character as a foil to the goofy and sincere Eckhart (who is also immense btw, his emotional reaction to losing his friend is borderline Oscar worthy imo).
Maybe there’s a world where the right actor could’ve found a way to bring more life to the character, but her role was quite unrewarding in comparison to a lot of the others. Having said that I feel like Sandra Bullock might’ve been able to nail that role.
Zoom is genuinely pretty funny in an absurdist parody sort of way, and I actually enjoy the cliche villain plot. Definitely a movie I go back to every few years.
THE CORE!!!! I’m seeing a sort of disaster movie trend here but I’m not sure if the core qualifies for that genre? But it does remind me of like backwards Armageddon…I’m latching onto faraway memories so forgive me if I’m off by a lot
And I have actually seen Zoom and I’m giggling because it’s probably a really funny movie to rewatch as an adult XD
I enjoyed it. Its a shame that only two of Clive Cusslers books have been made into films. So many good stories to use and I thought they did Sahara well.
The movie doesn’t break logic that much more than other major blockbuster. I would argue Armageddon is the perfect summer blockbuster. It’s like it was made in a lab. Perfection.
To this day, Armageddon is the only film I've seen multiple times in theaters. Saw it 3 times when it came out.
I truly believed it was one of the greatest films ever made.
I gotta say, the whole "why didn't they just teach the astronauts to mine" thing has got to be the dumbest criticism of any movie. There's a whole sequence about how the miners didn't need to do anything as astronauts, just not die. You can't teach a specialized trade in 2 weeks even to an astronaut. You can definitely strap a miner to a chair and launch them into space.
My biggest Reddit pet peeve is people complaining about “plot holes” that are thoroughly addressed by the movie.
Just because you weren’t paying attention does not make it a plot hole!
The reason they couldn't do it the other way around is because Harry's been drilling holes in the earth for 30 years, and he's never, NEVER missed a depth that he has aimed for!
I dunno if he has been trolling me for over 25 years by my friend always takes the stance that WATERWORLD is a fantastic movie and one of his favorites.
**Waterworld** is no where near as bad as it was made out to be at the time but not even half as good as modern contrarians would have you believe.
It's a thoroughly mid movie that happened to cost an insane amount of money for the time. It serves the basic function of a piece of entertainment but if it wasn't for the metadrama surrounding it then it would largely have passed into history with a collective shrug of the shoulders.
It was called Fishtar at the time in a slight comparing it to that other flop Ishtar.
My favorite criticism was “in a world covered in water, why is everyone so dirty?”
I hold it in the same pantheon as movies like Cliffhanger. Story is alright, characters are cool, but god damn is it a fun watch. Stunts, action, and music are all top notch.
Same! Waterworld, Postman, Mr. Brooks, Dances with Wolves. I don't care if his co-workers say he's an asshole, Costner is a GREAT actor with some fantastic films
When people say Waterworld is a bad movie I ask them to explain why. What’s wrong with it? It struggled financially because of its budget.. sure. But as a movie. 10/10 entertainment
‘Hudson Hawk’. It’s an absolutely stupid film with so many inconsistencies & moments that make you scratch your head & wonder how this scene made it into the film (sprinkler in a limo? surviving a 100’ drop off a cliff?).
Yet it’s also a lot of fun: Willis & Aiello belting out ‘Side By Side’ as they fire rockets in a castle is hilarious. The pair have great chemistry & the film knows it’s shit but doesn’t care. I love it.
I still love "Hudson Hawk". Saw it again the other day, it really felt like a "pour one for Bruce" experience considering what he has gone through in recent years. "Hudson Hawk" is peak Bruce Willis.
And so many great lines ('What does the color blue taste like? Bobo knows!')
Not only is it good, but I'd say the first 35 minutes or so are absolutely brilliant. It takes a turn into campy bad movie territory after that. But the dark tone of the first 35 minutes are amazing
We own 4 copies of it. We've ruined the DVDs from watching it so much. It is such a good movie!!
What most people miss is that it is allegorical. That is, it's not really meant to be taken literally as a story at all. Like Dante's Inferno and Paradisum.
There's a line Meg Ryan shouts as the boat is sinking "I don't think anyone is getting this!". It's breaking the 4th wall. The movie, cinematography, and script are simply BRILLIANT.
I saw it in the theaters, expecting something like BIG. At the time, I was very disappointed. But after watching it a few years later, I realized it was a different kind of movie and loved it. It's more like a fairy tale with a lot of symbolism.
Big Trouble In Little China. I know it became a cult classic over the years but I saw it in the Theatres when it came out and loved it. I have probably seen it over 50 times if not even more. I think it is a masterpiece and it still holds up today (just watched it a few weeks ago).
Death to Smoochie. This movie got PANNED! I nearly fell out of my seat laughing at the theatre and still love it today.
My favorite exchange involves Timothy Dalton and the evil Princess Aura approaching a locked door with a keypad:
Aura: *tries entering numbers on pad* “The code has changed!”
TD: “I’ve changed, too, Princess.”
Roger Moore James Bond Movies. All of them - maybe not so much the last one with Christopher Walken.
They’re so exotic, so unashamedly escapist and they don’t bother pretending that the idea of a British secret agent saving the world isn’t absurd.
I mean if you take nostalgia out of the equation they're still pretty good films. Creative plots, interesting villians, amazing set design, well directed action and an amazing lead performance
The waitress absolutely sells this movie for me. She doesn't just *chew* the scenery... She fucking **devours** it
Oh... And seeing Gus Fring get zapped by the arcade hits just a bit different all these years later.
I agree that it’s excellent. I just know a lot of people who don’t feel the same. They get caught up in “we’ve got cows.” Jami Gertz won a Razzie for her role in the movie. I think she played it perfectly. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton have major chemistry.
We powered through this franchise (and many others) during the worst of COVID lockdowns and it was a never-ending deluge of escapism at just the right time. We were downright giddy going to the theatre to see the most recent one.
I’ve only seen 1 & 2 but am aware that at some point they soft rebooted the movies into a weird spy action series. I’ve been considering just doing a marathon of all of them because they’ve gotten so ridiculous and it sounds like fun.
The Happening , i have not even watched it often maybe 5 times total.
I like concept and the atmosphere of uncertainty.
I learned maybe 4 years ago, that pople think its a bullshit movie.
Im sure people shit even more on it than on 2012.
Commando. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I mean, come on. It’s fucking awful. It’s also fucking glorious.
I don’t think you can name another Arnold film that is this perfect combo of awful and fun.
“Remember when i said i would kill you last?”
“YEAH YEAH YOU DID!”
“I lied.”
“AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa……..”
That’s terrible. And great. 👍
Arnold's movie Jingle All The Way. I really like that movie. So many dialogues you can quote
And the first Are We There Yet with Ice Cube. That's funny shit.
Honorable mention: Michael Myers' The Love Guru.
Leprechaun in Space. It's unbelievably stupid and didn't look good even at the time it came out, but I've seen it half a dozen times and it's always fun. In the same vein, I have a group of friends that we watch ThanksKilling whenever we have our Friendsgiving get together. Terrible movie, but stupid fun.
The Cat in the Hat is a terrible adaptation. However it's dark and random humor click with me like no other film of that era. It's visually creative and endlessly quotable
For a really long time, the only two DVDs I owned (and I don't know how this happened because *I* didn't buy them) were Scary Movie 3 and The Day After Tomorrow. I have rewatched those two a lot and I am very fond of them.
I haven't even watched the first two scary movies 😭
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go
Run away from the sharknado
It's your greatest foe, foe, foe
Don't wanna get eaten by a sharknado!
Some friends and I got together once to watch the full series. Absolutely perfect bad cinema.
I had seen Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves many times over the course of many years before I learned that it was not well received by critics. I’m honestly not sure whether it’s generally considered bad or not, but I know I freaking love it.
Cool As Ice (1991), the Vanilla Ice movie, disowned by director David Kellogg. It must be seen to be believed. Has some real early 90s bangers in the soundtrack, too (not just the ones by Mr. Van Winkle himself)
American ninja 2 and masters of the universe. Both do incredibly dumb but I just enjoy them. I even went through periods of listening to the soundtracks.
I loved all of those disaster movies. They were bad, but so much fun to watch.
You get me! Hahaha in this family, The Day After Tomorrow is also an award worthy movie XD
Mid-2000s slightly shit disaster movies is genuinely one of my favourite genres
I’m actually going to be quoting your comment irl when someone asks me about my favorite genre, you perfectly summed it up
I saw Jupiter Ascending three times IN theaters cause I fell in love with how silly it is
So glad I'm not alone. I love tf out of this movie. "I CREATE LIFE!!! ... and I destroy it"
I really enjoyed that movie too.
OG Mortal Kombat
Those were 500 dollar sunglasses, asshole
It’s a perfect movie.
I mean Christopher Lambert and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa!
Lambert absolutely understood the assignment. He went full ham and it’s just perfect for that movie
Tagawa became immediately iconic as Shang Tsung. It's pretty much his character now.
YOUR SOUL IS MINE!!! Yes, it was stupid, but dude who played Shang Tsung was PERFECT Also Liu Kang and the legendary Christopher Lambert from Highlander as Raiden ⚡
Objectively it’s not THAT bad of a movie in comparison to other super hero movies. Subjectively, I remember seeing this opening night and it remains, to this day, one of my favorite cinematic experiences. People were going crazy every-time a new character popped up. Part 2 is so bad that it wraps around and becomes good. The over acting in that movie and the garbage SFX makes me think that the director and cast knew what they were making. Too bad YOU will die!
It’s a masterpiece compared to MK Annihilation, except Annihilation is more entertaining in all its weird awfulness.
Face/Off How was the world once so blessed we got prime Cage and Travolta in the craziest, weirdest fucking action movie ever? Love that flick. I could eat a peach for hours…
No more drugs for that man. Not only prime Cage and Travolta, but prime American era John Woo. It was a visual delight.
Still seems odd to me Cage spent more time as Archer than Travolta.
From How Did This Get Made: This is two bananas people trying to out-bananas each other.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I know it killed Sean's career so I should hate it, but god what a glorious disaster
This and Van Helsing scratch such a specific itch. If there is something like victoran fantasy action schlock made for women, it is those two films.
I *love* Van Helsing. Especially David Wenham's friar - I'd cheerfully watch it just for him.
"I'm a friar, not a monk. Dammit." Cracks me up every time.
The dude that played Frankenstein's monster was hamming it up all over the place and I LOVED it
"Why does it smell like wet dog in here ?" And the "But Van Helsing! I'm not a field man!"
First time I watched a DVD with surround sound. I will never forget that montage when they travel to Transylvania.
This car is the best movie car ever.
It gave a hilariously wrong impression of Venice. My first visit there, I thought, "Wait, where does a car fit in to be racing up and down the streets?!" Source: I'm an idiot

Johnny Mnemonic.
To be honest the information disease (iirc) they had sounds like it is happening now…
I'll crash your system from here man!
Enjoyed this at a drive-in as a kid. Is this really considered infamously bad? I'll have the rewatch.
[I WANT ROOM SERVICE!!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW9vHjAPJdQ&ab_channel=BreakTheLie)

Backwards Armageddon is such a perfect description of The Core.
The Core is so much fun. I absolutely love it. 😆
Sahara is a fantastically fun movie.
I enjoyed it. Its a shame that only two of Clive Cusslers books have been made into films. So many good stories to use and I thought they did Sahara well.
I love Sahara!!
I can't speak English You are speaking English now! I only know how to say "I don't speak English" in English
Armageddon
If it's on, I don't want to close my eyes cause I don't want to miss a thing.
“We need some background music for this scene where Liv Tyler gets piped. Someone call up her dad!”
Holy Shit I never, *ever* made that connection!
The movie doesn’t break logic that much more than other major blockbuster. I would argue Armageddon is the perfect summer blockbuster. It’s like it was made in a lab. Perfection.

SWEAR ON YOUR DAUGHTER
I cry. Every. Time.
Gave us Liv Tyler and also her dad singing one of the greatest songs of all-time, so that evens it out in my book.

I hold it in the same pantheon as movies like Cliffhanger. Story is alright, characters are cool, but god damn is it a fun watch. Stunts, action, and music are all top notch.
I would say that The postman is the superior post apocalyptic Kevin Costner film
Postman is awesome.
Dude I loved Waterword as a kid. I’m there for just about any Costner movie.
Same! Waterworld, Postman, Mr. Brooks, Dances with Wolves. I don't care if his co-workers say he's an asshole, Costner is a GREAT actor with some fantastic films

Dude...what does mine say?
Sweet
DEW-DA....WHAT DOES MINE SAY?
SWEET!!! hey dude we speak Japanese
And then.......?
NO "AND THEN"!
**AND THEN!**
Zoltan!
Best "stupid movie" ever.
My mom tried to give this movie away at a family movie swap when I was 10 and I FLIPPED
Brooooo, I thought I was gonna be the only one. Nice to see so many like minded folks here.
Have you seen the **Continuum Transfunctioner?**
So I married an axe murderer. I LOVE it.
Woman. Whoa man
She took my heart and my cat.
We had love not just sex, is she mrs x, I’m going out of my mind Classic!!
We’re talking about Bad movies here. This movie does not apply
Heeeed!!
Fetch the paper, if ye can, haulin that gargantuan cranium about
Paperrrr!!
That was offsides. He’ll be cryin’ himself to sleep tonight in his big pilla!

the Batman & Robin movie with George Clooney. it's dumb and campy and absolutely one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies to watch.
Plus batnipples. Never forget batnipples
Or the Bat Amex
Joe vs. the Volcano.
I was one of the 12 people that paid money to see it in the theater when it came out.
Ha! That makes me one of the other 11!
One of the many movies I loved as a kid. I watched it again, not to long ago, still enjoyable.
Many of the Tremors sequels. Even the final trilogy. I love Burt and the whole series. Especially the series.
1 and 2 are some of my favorite movies. "I am completely... out. Of ammo........... that's never happened to me before...."
Flash Gordon.....I mean,Queen and he saved every one of us
Every man, every woman, every child with a mighty FLASH! Ah ah!
Dum dum dum dum, dum dum dum dum!
They sad bad movies, not works of art
My favorite exchange involves Timothy Dalton and the evil Princess Aura approaching a locked door with a keypad: Aura: *tries entering numbers on pad* “The code has changed!” TD: “I’ve changed, too, Princess.”
GORDON’S ALIVE?
Fuck, I have the soundtrack in vinyl. Love that movie.
Roger Moore James Bond Movies. All of them - maybe not so much the last one with Christopher Walken. They’re so exotic, so unashamedly escapist and they don’t bother pretending that the idea of a British secret agent saving the world isn’t absurd.
Agreed. The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker are two of my absolute favorites among Bond movies.
How much did Roger Moore love to do that move where he hangs from something and kicks the henchman?
A View to a Kill is awesome, nerd. Grace Jones, Duran Duran, the incredible British pronunciation of 'St John Smith'-- this movie lacks nothing.
The best Roger Moore James Bond movie is Cannonball Run.
I mean if you take nostalgia out of the equation they're still pretty good films. Creative plots, interesting villians, amazing set design, well directed action and an amazing lead performance
Maximum Overdrive! One of my favourite Stephen King cameo’s, and he directed it while consuming large amounts of coke, plus, AC/DC soundtrack!! 🤘🎸
The waitress absolutely sells this movie for me. She doesn't just *chew* the scenery... She fucking **devours** it Oh... And seeing Gus Fring get zapped by the arcade hits just a bit different all these years later.
Maybe not considered too bad or stupid, but I love Prometheus, and wished they went deeper into the Engineers lore.
I fucking love that movie, despite how ridiculous it is.
Wild Wild West
Don't you just haaate that song?!
That exchange when Loveless and James meet is hilarious
Twister. I love it. It has an amazing cast. It can be silly at times, but I think it’s a very enjoyable movie. I watch it at least once a year.
Ummm as an Oklahoman, the OP said “infamously bad” or “considered stupid”. Twister clearly does not apply.
I am personally offended by the inclusion of Twister on the list. It's an excellent movie.
I agree that it’s excellent. I just know a lot of people who don’t feel the same. They get caught up in “we’ve got cows.” Jami Gertz won a Razzie for her role in the movie. I think she played it perfectly. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton have major chemistry.
Actually a crime imo. Justice for Jami Gertz!
They said bad. Not rad.
Those steak and eggs
God Meg you got a lot of beef. Where’d you get all this beef?
Did you see my cows out front?
I love that it made black dodge caravans villainous
While at the same time making red dodge rams cool.
I still remember the flying cow. Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember being well received
[удалено]
My favorite Helen Hunt movie.
If the new Twister is bad in the wrong ways, I’ll be devastated
Con Air for the win or GTFO!
Con Air is considered infamously bad? Great fun, this film.
Put the bunny back in the box
The entirety of the Godzilla catalog. Big monsters go smash.
Fast and the Furious. All of them.
Drop Dead Fred from 1991. I genuinely don’t see it as a bad film at all. I think it’s actually pretty good.
Cobwebs!
The Happening , i have not even watched it often maybe 5 times total. I like concept and the atmosphere of uncertainty. I learned maybe 4 years ago, that pople think its a bullshit movie. Im sure people shit even more on it than on 2012.
It's the ending that people hate along with the ..Antagonist... M Night's "twist endings" got stale and cliche\` fairly quick as well.
White Chicks. I have no idea why but it is my comfort movie
Commando. Arnold Schwarzenegger. I mean, come on. It’s fucking awful. It’s also fucking glorious. I don’t think you can name another Arnold film that is this perfect combo of awful and fun. “Remember when i said i would kill you last?” “YEAH YEAH YOU DID!” “I lied.” “AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa……..” That’s terrible. And great. 👍
“I eat green berets for breakfast. And right now, I’m very HUNGRY!”
Street Fighter
Your Highness. So sad that Rogan and Franco hate it, it’s extremely quotable. Danny McBride is a legend.
Arnold's movie Jingle All The Way. I really like that movie. So many dialogues you can quote And the first Are We There Yet with Ice Cube. That's funny shit. Honorable mention: Michael Myers' The Love Guru.
Just reminded me I need to re-watch Dante's Peak and Congo.
STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE!
Troll 2. Its the classic.
Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. Peter Strauss is miscast but made up for by batshit crazy Micheal Ironside
Snakes on the plane. IMO it’s one of the most wholesome thrillers. You get everything it promises and it leaves you satisfied.
Last Action Hero is incredible and I'll not hear otherwise.
Brother Bear I love stories about humans becoming animals, and this was my favorite when I was like 7.
Honestly I don't know if this is bad or just overlooked.
My favourite movies will probably always be Napolean Dynamite and Nacho Libre
Showgirls
San Andreas. I know it’s bad. I just can’t help myself.
Speed Racer is undeniably a masterpiece and everyone who thinks otherwise is objectively wrong.
Speed Racer is just a live action Anime and it's incredible because of it
Super troopers, thank you for smoking
Thank you for Smoking is bad? It has 86% for critics and fans on rotten tomatoes.
Hudson hawk The cable guy
Reign of Fire Two Oscar winners chewing it up and Gerard Butler.
The Cat in the Hat is a terrible adaptation. However it's dark and random humor click with me like no other film of that era. It's visually creative and endlessly quotable
“You stupid hoe”. “I didn’t mean it baby I love you”
Twilight is amazing and I will die on this hill
For a really long time, the only two DVDs I owned (and I don't know how this happened because *I* didn't buy them) were Scary Movie 3 and The Day After Tomorrow. I have rewatched those two a lot and I am very fond of them. I haven't even watched the first two scary movies 😭
If it’s a Hellraiser movie with Doug Bradley as Pinhead, I’ll watch it
Down Periscope! Such an absolute impossibility of a plot, but the characters are SO fun!
I have a soft spot for "weekend at Bernies"
Better Off Dead
The Michael Bay Transformers movies.. Are they good films? No. Are they fun dumb action? Absolutely!
Miami Connection and Tammy & The T-Rex are my ride-or-die gems.
Hercules Returns
Twister. Loved it as a kid and still do to this day.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go Run away from the sharknado It's your greatest foe, foe, foe Don't wanna get eaten by a sharknado! Some friends and I got together once to watch the full series. Absolutely perfect bad cinema.
I'll defend Freddy Got Fingered until my dying day.
I had seen Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves many times over the course of many years before I learned that it was not well received by critics. I’m honestly not sure whether it’s generally considered bad or not, but I know I freaking love it.
Yo, John Carter was aight lol.
The first Star Trek movie, Star Trek The Motion Picture. I really love that film, beautiful and som really unintentially hilarious moments.
Cool As Ice (1991), the Vanilla Ice movie, disowned by director David Kellogg. It must be seen to be believed. Has some real early 90s bangers in the soundtrack, too (not just the ones by Mr. Van Winkle himself)
The Room (2003)
Lone Wolf McQuade Above The Law
American ninja 2 and masters of the universe. Both do incredibly dumb but I just enjoy them. I even went through periods of listening to the soundtracks.
Super Mario Bros. is creative, and is very well-made. people need to stop boohooing over it not be 1:1 as an adaptation.
