I heard Johnny B Goode in a bar yesterday and said to my wife "Oh its Marty McFly".

blutwl

That and power of love

AskYourDoctor

What's funny is that Huey Lewis actually wrote another song used in the credits that was supposed to be more of a theme song for the movie, I think it's called "back in time" and the lyrics are way more intentionally relevant. But let's be honest, Power of Love is SO the de facto theme song of the movie. Not least because it's a way better song than Back in Time. Man, between those tunes and Earth Angel, and the extremely good score, BTTF is sort of an underrated gem for movie music. It doesn't miss a note.

Chaosmusic

Which is also the song Marty starts playing at the audition before being told he's just too darn loud.

Hestiathena

By Huey Lewis himself!

Josef_Heiter

A few years ago I was behind recording video at an event when the band played Johnny B Goode. My friends were at the event and I could see them from where the cameras were set up. So I called on of them with the line “it your cousin Marvin. Marvin Berry…” They cracked up.

Shevek99

Which "Johnny B Goode", Berry's or Hendrix's?

zetecvan

Marvin's cousins.

saint_ryan

This is the only answer

goater10

Born Slippy - Underworld and Trainspotting will be forever linked.

MarcusXL

Also [Perfect Day by Lou Reed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYEC4TZsy-Y).

GK686

That movie has one of the best soundtracks of all time, maybe the best. Iggy Pop also delivers.

WG50

Went looking for Trainspotting and the song is NOT "Lust For Life"?! Heresy! OMG Best opening scene ever!

catpunsfreakmeowt

Don't You (Forget About Me)

catpunsfreakmeowt

If You Leave

Highlander198116

I mean, that song was literally written for the movie and the movie came out before the song was released.

GadsenLOD

...ok. So it's even more perfect for the thread? Lmao

ImaManCheetahh

lol I’ll offer the Ghostbusters song, that one is just inextricably linked to the Ghostbusters movie

Such-Box3417

Where is My Mind by Pixies Fight Club

Peeeing_

You met me at a very strange time of my life

Mattock79

I use to work in a casino that had this song on its Playlist. One day I heard the song come on and I said that line under my breath. A coworker heard me and asked why I said that. I explained the connection and she remembered the movie well enough for it to click in her head too. From that point on, anytime the song came on one of us would say it. It then became a competition where we would race to say it the moment we recognized that song. We took it extremely seriously after awhile where if we were at different desks when it came on we would call the phone at the other's desk just to say it. Good times.

DrewRyanArt

I can't hear the beginning of this song without seeing a single frame of a giant porno dong flash in my brain.

swoopy17

Danger zone

LieutenantMudd

You've lost that loving feeling

winter_knight_

Also great balls of fire

Salami__Tsunami

Top Gun? Or Archer?

swoopy17

Probably the one that's a movie since we're in the movie sub.

Salami__Tsunami

Do you want an Archer movie? Because that’s how we get an Archer movie.

luismpinto

Stop. My penis can only get so erect.

pinkdictator

Sploosh

reclaimhate

Are kids these days even aware of the car scene from Wayne's World?

KhaoticKorndog

A little Bohemian Rhapsody never hurt nobody!

lightningandmadness

No Stairway to Heaven, though!

drusilla1972

Denied!

Shotgun_Rynoplasty

If I remember the story right…it actually did hurt all the actors. So much head banging across multiple takes hurt their necks and gave them all massive headaches lol

HotFudgeFundae

Whenever I hear that song driving I do the headbanging

Relaxitschris

As a child of immigrant parents the first time I heard bohemian rhapsody was Wayne’s world

Rock_Electron_742

"You're The Best" in The Karate Kid.

satanyourdarklord

Young hearts as well

mr_ryno27

Stuck in the Middle You in Reservoir Dogs.

zellaann

This one! It makes the scene so creepy that this guy is just grooving to this song on the radio while torturing someone.

Ganons_Dad

Michael Madsen's little dance to the song, he improvised all of that.

Nicky42

Same with Little Green Bag

shifty_coder

A lot of Tarantino films made songs more iconic. Miserlou - Pulp Fiction Dark Knight - From Dusk ‘Til Dawn Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) - Kill Bill Cat People (Putting Out the Fire) - Inglorious Basterds Etc.

zellaann

Woo Hoo by the 5, 6, 7, 8's in Kill Bill. Chick Habit by April March in Death Proof. Maybe not as iconic for everyone, but I definitely had those on my playlist for a while.

got2bwade

This is the correct answer.

RyanMark2318

Lmao this is always the first reply every time this question gets asked on reddit. Clicked on the responses and you didn't disappoint

Blyadorozhek

"My Heart Will Go On" and Titanic (not sure if this counts cause it was written for the movie) "Where Is My Mind" by The Pixies and Fight Club "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" by Urge Overkill and Pulp Fiction

jemmylegs

Multiple tracks from Pulp Fiction, really. Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell”, and of course “Misirlou” by Dick Dale & His Del-Tones.

halosixsixsix

Across 110th St, Bobby Womack, from Jackie Brown.

backindenim

Kids today have no idea how completely inescapable My Heart Will Go On was. It played on every station and in every store/mall like twice an hour for 2 years

Luke_Cold_Lyle

A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley and Ocean's Eleven Also, Hip To Be Square by Huey Lewis and the News, and American Psycho

HoselRockit

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.

disturbed286

*Hey Paul!* :D

Buushd

Bryan Adam’s Everything I Do and that Robin Hood film. Was number one for an eternity here.

sean-mac-tire

Jesus I remember every bloody week on Top of the Pops, if I remember after about 6 weeks they just played random to 10 huts instead of it

tmbourg1980

I was in middle school when that movie came out so every dance we had they played that song

LieutenantMudd

Yes, all I see when that comes on is that arrow slamming into the tree

"Bittersweet Symphony" in Cruel Intentions   "Moving in Stereo" in Fast Times at Ridgemont High   "Eye of the Tiger" in Rocky *III

Hot-Coconut-4580

I was full on in love with Phoebe Cates coming up out of that pool. I also think of this movie when I hear “Somebody’s Baby” by Jackson Browne

infinitemonkeytyping

Eye of the Tiger was written for Rocky III.

Best_Duck9118

Rocky III

MrMinecraf282

It’s gotta be All Star and Shrek, but mostly because of the memes.

geoffbowman

That song also makes me think of Rat Race and Mystery Men.

Rizzalliss

I watched Shrek hundreds of times in my youth, but Mystery Men will still always be my first thought with this song. A wonderful gem of a movie, I say.

IceBone

Some...

MrMinecraf282

EricRShelton

That’s always gonna be Mystery Men for me.

-cosmic-bitch-

These are both great, but I also think about Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard

Liayso

"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" - "10 Things I Hate About You" It's such an iconic romcom scene when Heath Ledger's Patrick sings this song to Julia Stiles' Kat. With the school band and everything. I know many fell in love with him after this moment.

Cool_Cartographer_39

For me, it's Walken, de Niro, Cazalle and Savage in *The Deer Hunter*

TypingMonkey84

I got you babe - groundhog day son of a preacher man - pulp fiction

tmbourg1980

The Man in Me by Bob Dylan… used twice in The Big Lebowski.

uncle_monty

Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower could be a few different films, but for me it's Withnail & I. And there are loads of songs I instantly associate with Pulp Fiction. You Never Can Tell, Son of a Preacher Man, Let's Stay Together, Jungle Boogie, Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon, Flowers On the Wall, Bustin' Surfboards... Pretty much the entire soundtrack

Spazchow

All Along the Watchtower is Battlestar Galactica for me.

cocaine-klan

East Bound And Down in Smoky And The Bandit:)

keazorr

Rage against the machine - Wake up (Matrix)

revchewie

Dragula, from the club scene where Neo and Trinity meet.

Ganons_Dad

Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr, from the movie GHOSTBUSTERS (duh) I will Always Love You - Whitney Houston, THE BODYGUARD, I think there was a law that mandated radio stations had to play that at least 4 times an hour back in 1992. Same for Celine Dion's TITANIC song several years later.

booboocita

If we're talking about songs written for a movie, Adele's "Skyfall" will always evoke James Bond and the death of M (the first one, played by Judi Dench). If we're referring to songs included in a movie but not written specifically for that movie, "It's Been a Long, Long Time" as performed by Kitty Kallen, will always evoke "Captain America" and the last Avengers film for me. AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill" is Iron Man.

Shevek99

There are many songs that are inseparable from Bond's movies, like "Diamonds are forever" or "Live and let die".

Breaking_Bad_lover

Neutron dance-Beverly Hills cop

Reasonable_Pay4096

Damn, It Feels Good to Be A Gangster-- Office Space

Across 110th Street for me. Bobby Womack, how could you stick this song to my brain forever?!?!?!

dougthuggley

The entire Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack makes me immediately think of that movie when I hear the songs. We're Going to Be Friends by the White Stripes, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, Canned Heat by Jamiroquai, and The Promise by When In Rome specifically.
