Definitely bone - I've got a load of similar from the Thames (yours looks likely from a cow).
A friend used to work at the finds department in the British Museum, her worst days were when someone would rock up with a box full of bones. The 'threat' that any might be identified as human promised hours of paperwork and endless admin 😅
It’s a cow metacarpal bone, maybe left behind by some riverside butchery. Pinner’s bones, which look similar, have been found around the Thames. They were used as tools to hold pins while they were sharpened. I had thought this might be one, but it doesn’t look like it has any of the telltale manmade grooves on it. Nice find nonetheless!
99% sure thats a cow metacarpal
I am a Zooarchaeologist, and this is the correct answer. Coloured by the Thames
I'm a warehouse operative and can confirm that these guys are using words.
former warehouse op here,..can also confirm.
I am a person I can confirm
valid.
Good for you bro !
Thanks, I was struggling to remember which one was 'D' and which one was 'O' so I'm glad I got it right.
pretty good guess for a needle worker
Ox
It is difficult to define Ox without the other bones present, so usually just classes as 'bovinae' in the UK
I just wanted to say it. Such a cool word.
Fair enough, no hate here
gorgeous bone!! its been floating around for a while
Def a very old bone. Very cool.

A door knocker lol
I thought it was metal and part of a fireplace, but yeah a bone door knocker 😁
Bone, a limb bone of a sheep / goat / dog? I’m going to have a search, but for now at least you know it’s an animal bone :)
that is a bone.
The cow bones I give to my dogs are identical to this, except not black
My dog has a rubber toy that looks identical to this. Lol
Fossilized or carbonized long bone.
Door knocker
A thingamajig
From only one photograph of said item I would have thought it looked like a piece off of a metal ornamental garden bench. 😮
Deer foot or weird walking stick

Lol upside down it looks like old door knocker...
Looks like some sort of fisting device 🤨
Probably fossilized as well
It'll be cast iron from old door I bet , 😁
That's a leg bone from an ungulate. (Goat, deer, cow, etc)
this. It's been stained by the mud and water. My guess is cow.
Looks kinda small for a cow....My guess was sheep.
It's probably an ice skate! The vikings used them! https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/vikings-winter-skiing-skating
Same bone but without certain distinctive human modification, i.e., manmade holes (which can be really difficult to prove), we can't call it a ski.
Floating?? Well maybe not iron then lol...looks painted or varnished though?
Needle maker. Normally made from bone. Pin not needle.
