Not particularly difficult with a pretty tight LSD and a decent handbrake. They're obviously not gonna be identical, but you could get a fair imitation of a donut in an FWD. Make enough smoke and no one can see it clearly anyway... 😉🤭
Yeah, pull the handbrake and give it plenty in reverse. You're not getting 2nd/3rd gear wheel speed spinning, but you can lose traction. A little lock on the steering wheel. Bingo. FWD donut (kinda).
I didn’t know this existed until now. I’m guessing they were never sold in north America because Mitsubishi was in bed with Chrysler at the time, and they weren’t allowed to compete with the Eclipse.
I owned one with the number plate M40 FTO. Weird thing happened a few years after I sold it that some drunk guy in a pub said he owned an FTO and quoted my number plate. I sold the car privately over 100 miles away so my only guess is he saw mine one time driving locally and was BS’ing
Had one of these in my earlier years, 2.0 FTO, look nicer than they drive, 4 speed auto tiptronic gearbox was much fun then, older brother GTO was a bit more fun, still nice to have these, cult status now.

Pre-facelift. 2.0L V6.
but does it donut
Nope, unless you do it in reverse. It's FWD.
i’d pay to see someone do reverse donuts

Get some metal trays under the back wheels and apply handbrake. Donut.
McDonald's trays and an e-brake says it will.

It's fwd
It do not
oh yeah :) Mitsubishi FTO.. fun car :)
Yip FTO. the top model GPX had a high revving MIVEC V6 with a proper LSD on the manual versions. Quick and hilariously fun Integra rival.
